  1. I really straightened him out yesterday we went on a guided quail hunt and the guide, who is a friend of mine, put his shock collar on him. just putting the collar on him not even zapping him seemed to have an effect then when the guide gave him a bump man it was like turning on the “now I’m a real bird hunter switch” it was cool to see the transition. Doc was trained when I got him but I never reinforced any of his training other than whoa here and there and I was too cheep to buy a collar but that was the wake up call for me (and Doc) I think that I’m going to get off the cash an go and get one. I think when the check comes from the Feds I’ll go out and spend the money on the collar that will teach doc ha ha ha
  2. if the simple sob wasnt such a good bird dog i realy think i would have shot him
  3. I’ve decided that my boss must have been petting his cats right before he counted out the money (doc likes to eat p00sy ) as for the government, keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
  4. Yep. Actually it was more like 550$ in cash. He stood up and took it off a shelf about 4’ high and laid down in his crate and ate it. I was taking a shower and my son comes running down the hall yelling “Doc’s chewing on a hundred dollar bill” needless to say I jumped out of the shower just as he was taking the soggy shredded note from his mouth. Doc was laying in his crate with his paw on my money clip and two one dollar bills next to his head. After a good bit of profanity my wife suggested giving him some peroxide to make him vomit, she was less than enthusiastic about me shooting him and gutting him on the kitchen floor. So I told her that I was going to finish my shower and by that time he had better be paying out like a liquid slot machine or we were going to do it my way. Well just for the record about 4oz of peroxide will make a 75lb Wiemaraner vomit the entire contains of its stomach in about ten minuets. I don’t know who was going to puke more the dog or my wife as I scooped up the chum and put it in her good colander. After rinsing out most of the undigested kibble I was able to recover about 440$ in bills that should be able to be reissued and the rest just looks like shredded assorted small bills. The US government will replace mutilated US currency as long as they are able to estimate the value and authenticity of the bills and there face value. the government has a really good website, here’s a link to the treasury site http://www.moneyfactory.com/section.cfm/8/39 and this is a scan of one of the bags of money that he ate I think that I’m going to post the chewed up money photo and the story on our Wiemaraner rescue page http://www.dvwc.org/default.htm , and also send it in to the WCA magazine as a short story. Its one of those cases of fact being funnier than fiction. Also in another ironic twist we were in the process of getting ready to go to our annual club banquet so my wife and I could accept a couple of awards for the dogs!!!!!!!
  5. my beloved dog Doc decided to eat over 500$ in cash... im quite up set with him
  6. sounds fine to me i like to keep a small container of breakfree clp with me at all times when im shooting an auto because you never know when something is going to dry out or decide not to work. its a small vial that i got a a gun show that fits in my pocket. its pulled me out of more than one jam no pun intended
  7. forgot to take photo of it though
  8. i got to shoot a rat the other day
  9. does it come in a Corinthian leather wrapped case signed by Ricardo Montobaun?
  10. I really like the ‘77’ with the wire wheels power windows and the finest Corinthian leather
  11. Never use WD40 to clean a weapon. I recommend break free clp to every one. Save the wd for fishing lures since its about 75% fish oil. Once the solvent dries out it just turns to some kind of super gunk varnish that makes every thing gummy and sticky
  12. a judge will or a jury of your peers. as long as your not breaking the law while using your weapon I would not worry about two many modifications. what are the chances that an ATF agent trained specifically in detecting pre 1994 weapons would be standing next to you at a range????? the laws in question are vague at the least. You know you do have rights as a citizen of this country and no matter what you read on this board until your standing in front of the man to here your fate you’ll never know what is legal or not. Every state has different laws and ways to enforce them upon the tax payer. So as long as you don’t saw the bbl down to 15inches and make it full auto then go to the 7-11 on a killing spree I wouldn’t fret two much. And as for a good defensive load I would go for some #1 buckshot in a 3” shell. That will air almost anything at a defensive range unless you want to let them run a bit then maybe go with 0 or 00 but I like the more pellets they make a more devastating permanent wound channel
  13. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Firearms_Act this is a link to an explanation of the National Fire ams act. the foot note in queston on that site page dosent seem to be on any of those weapons

    Gun Cleaners

i like to use hopps #9 for heavy cleaning but i agree with mudhen about the breakfree clp i always keep some with my gun stuff and in my day pack for everything. AVOID WD-40 at all costs un less thats all you can come up with. it evaproates and becomes gummy
  17. 308 is a nice round also. 30.30 is perfect for deer up to 100yd we routinely shoot a marlin 30.30 at 100yd with sub 2” groups. But remember what ever size rifle you get make sure you can afford to shoot it. I have a Winchester model 94 chambered in .32 Winchester special it’s a wonder full eastern mountain gun it will kill any thing around but it cost a fortune to shoot and I can only get one type of bullet for it unless I start to reload my own. Here in pa I usually hunt with my .357 revolver because we can only see 50yd or so and I shoot the .357 10x more than my rifle
  18. me too go with the gass opperated i would go with a 20ga beretta. not to sound cheep but i would probabley go the gun show route and pick up somthing used just incase she hates it
  19. the old condom and a rubber band works wonders. trust me the ol trogen will break and a little protecton is always a good thing. i would avoid the electrical tape.

    Shell ejection

try hoseing some break free clp into it and working the acton a bunch sounds gummed up to me. i would also try some heavyer loads. most of my feeding problems are amost always the direct result of bad or cheep loads. i would avoid WD40 its about 85% bunker oil and when the solvent evaporates it turns to gum and clogs up everyting
  21. i love the shell popping out it took me 2 rolls of film to get one shell flying out of the ol glock now i cant find it
  22. i think we'll go people hunting they taste like chicken
  23. i just paid 1450 for a new 686 black onyx in 20ga for 800 or so i think i would pick it up. its a beautyfull weapon well ballenced and a good pointer. theres realy no compairing a rugar to the beretta the beretta is nicer hands down.
