i think you should just go by an M-60 and get it over with
  2. think ill just go choke my load
  3. hooked on fonix woorkd fo me and besides that i graduated at the top ov my vo tech class
  4. the choke and the load controls the pattern. so a lighter load out of a 2 3/4 shell will have a lower veloicity than a 3 1/2" load. so natrualy a higher load out of the same choke will result in a tighter pattern at the same distance. the chamber plays little role in pattern size all of the rounds must go threw the forceing cone in the front of the chamber. bbl length also will determan veloicty therefor affecting pattern. what may happen is if you switch between loads mid way thew. if you shoot 100 2 3/4" shells than throw in a 3 1/2 the latter may not correctly come to battery because of fouling in the front of the chamber but evan then thats kind of off the wall and would only happen if you were shooting very dirty loads with very soft wads. i would get the 3 1/2 and not worry about it. cycling may be affected by very light loads you will have to experment with it. i would not use 3 1/2" shells for target shooting unless i loaded my own becuase of the cost and recoil. have fun and enjoy
  5. take the choke out and soak it in hopps or pb blaster its probely plastic from the wadding fouling the end of the tube also i like to put a brush on the end of my cordless drill and run it threw till its shiney

    hunt test

got to take ol doc out on an early hunt test last sunday it was a blast doc made the newbies look realy bad they were mostly show dogs and there un-trained owners. the old fellow cleared the bird field (6 planted quail 3 for him and 3 for his brace mate) he evan backed his brace mate, i was shocked. he hasent been on birds since last winter. i also got to warm up a little i took 6 out of 9 released chucker i did cheat tho and we took out a couple of there flight feathers the idea of the day was to train the dogs to retreve a shot bird and if i kept missing that kind of defeats the point. i took duncan out also i think im just going to keep him around to poop in the nabors flower bed
  8. well i finaly got to test the wheel gun out. i tryed to post this on the board last week but for some reason big brother decided to remove it . so here it go's again. we got to go to a farm and realy let some lead fly. my self and 2 other good marksmen were shooting a 6x6" (or so) steel plate at 100yd off hand with factory 158 grain .357 loads with relitive consistancy that aint to shabby in my book. (i also taught a couple of hostle looking 2lt coke bottles not to mess with me) as a matter of fact i was quite shocked when i started hitting it after only about 4 shots and the first 4 were on the 3'x5' paper backing. ive never had the oppertunity to shoot hand guns at any thing other than paper at that distence its so satisfieing to hear that "ting!" i evan did it with the ol' trusty GLOCK 19 a couple of times. at 25-30 yrds we were dead on almost every shot takeing into consideration that we were shooting about 10 differnt hand guns with 5 differnt calibers. we had a real blast . part of the trip was also to scout out some places to go deer hunting. any body have some suggestions about a good .357 deer load. im thinking about going with a cor-bon 180 grain bcsp but i've also conciderd somthing more like a winchester golden saber in 165 grain. i mostlikely will be shooting in the 20-40 yd range more closer to 20. the woods are fairly dense on the farm. i would love to drop the sucker where he stands but im not against a little tracking. as a back up im going to take my winchester 94 in .32 win spec. i know that will drop a black bear in that range so a deer isnt a problem i got to shoot that also it shure has a nice pop and punch. we were spinning an eight inch diamater 1/2 inch thick mettal plate like a toy at 50yd till a ricochet hit my buddy in the gut than bounced on to another innocent bystander (rember kiddies always ware your safty glasses) also got to shoot an ak 74 that was blasting perfect 3/8 holes threw the 1/2 diamond plate its chamberd in 5.54 it s funny looking bullet but boy do it make a nice hole sparks and all
  9. a street sweeper is drum fed and i think styer makes a mag fed its called a bull pup. i think most of the reason is that fact that shot gun shells are so large that evan 5 or 10 would hang very low off the weapon that it would snag on every thing like a 30rd on an ak

    SBE II problems

having had my share of problems with things that are mass produced and doing a bunch of complaing about it every day (im an auto body repair man / mechanic) every day i curse some enginer or quality inspector or parts person. ive come to relize that when i do somthing stupid or wrong its only 1 or 2 problems. when a large company that pumps out tens of thousands of somthing when things go wrong or fail, it happens on that scale so no matter what you do there is 10 000 other people that are having the same problem if it takes me 1 hour to fix my screw up multyply that by 10,000 and thats how long its going to take a company with 100's of workers to fix it . i know it sounds stupid but thats what makes me feel better, or just be a little less mad.

    Camouflage

since you got the gun cheep (the best way) i would just go to the hobby shop and pick up a few rattle cans of flat o.d. green and some brown and what ever other color that is close to were your hunting, and just paint it your self. just make shure you get all the oil and grease off it first if you want to go crazy you could scotch brite all the shine off it and prime it first with some acid etching primer (you can pick that up at pep boys) all you realy have to do is break up the pattern of the gun. i just cant spend money on somthing that's so easy to do your self. and if you mess it up in the field you can just touch it up when you get home. the other advantage to doing it your self is you can get colors that more closely resemble your hunting aria. just rember to carefully mask up any thing that you dont want to paint or shouldent paint. also make shure to follow the instructons on the can espesicaly when painting plastic. you should be able to do the entire thing for less than 20$ and have plenty left over to do all kinds of other things

    SBE Spare Parts

gas for the car, your license, your vest, your hat... a decent map.... oh yea and at least one back up gun......
  13. i would by a shorter bbl. johnny law dosen't seem to like the hack saw in the basement technique as much as i do. it also will make it bark alot more and shoot fire about 3', i have a mossburg with an 18.5 bbl and it is punnishing but cool when every one around you backs up and covers there ears and go's ooooo
  14. i have a set of orvis stocking foot neoprene's that ive had for about 5-6 years they are great and they came with a fairly good warrenty if you poke a hole in them they will replace them for a couple of years (prorated of course) now i dont hunt in them but i have used them for a couple of stupid things like sleding with the kids and surf fishing in january slipping and slideing down a couple of embankments and i like to sit on sharp rocks and trip over broken down barbwire fences. as for makeing somthing with the old ones i would suggjest l little jacket for the dog or you could use the leggs for gun socks... im cheep and a pelthora of worthless knowlage.
  15. just drop it in the parking lot and realy screw it up then you wont care any more

    Recoil

shoot less or just get a cannon on wheels
  17. i put 50 rounds thew it on sunday at the range and it didnt miss fire but the rust along the rib is getting worse and now the bbl seems to like takeing my finger prints more than the local pd. ive been told that i have an acidic personality but i didn't think it was that bad. as for the ruger i shot one a couple of weeks ago with a english stock and i realy liked it its in my price range i think for now im going to give up on the 12 and go to a 20 i realy like my wife's and i think it will make me a better shot. sunday i shot with a guy shooting a .410 with modified tubes and he shot a 23 accualy it was more like a 40 somthing because he was shooting doubles at every station it was realy cool to watch almost every clay was blasted to dust.
  18. ive had good luck using just good old hopps or pb blaster. i took an old cleaning rod and attached it to my cordless drill and i run it up and down the bbl first with the brush then with a red scotch brite wrapped around a smaller brush so it fits tight in the bbl. it shure cuts my cleaning time and will take almost any thing out of the tubes if there realy cloged up with plastic wadding i'll take a couple drops of laquer thinner to the mix but you have to make shure that you oil the bbl when your done the thinner will strip all the oil out and leave it bare to flash rust
  19. guess i should have taken photos of all my buddies rolling around on the skeet field laughing there butts off at me when my condor was misfireing or better yet me standing over the chop saw getting ready to cut it up
  20. for years i shot an old mossburg pump with no front bead at all. head placement and moveing the gun is the way . wing shooting is more intuitive than aiming you point a shot gun not aim it.... you must be the shot grasshopper...
  21. that seems to be the way the country is moveing. big brother is aways watching and telling me whats funny and what's not.
  22. ive given great thought to reloading but i need another hobby like a hole in my head. also beeing an artist im a little absent minded and not much for keeping records on any thing both of those things are vital for reloading. with my luck i would end up blowing my hand off or my house up
  23. hey that was one of duncans best points!!!!!!!!!!
