  3. how about duncan on point
  4. yea bird the treelounge was very high on the list a friend of myn has one and he loves it when he's in it but he hates to set it up and carry it around i just havent decided wether or not to buy one or build one. its a simple design and im shure that i can build it it would give me an excuse to use my tig welder
  5. im looking to get a decent climeing tree stand. any suggestions? FYI im a tad afraide of that quick stop at the end of a long fall... so ones to avoid are also welcome
  6. i used to use a 12 all the time but i got tired of lugging it around all the time. my 20 is lighter and faster to use than my 12 its also a lot less punnishing on me. i like to shoot a lot of skeet and 200 rounds through a 20 is a lot less ouch than an 12. as for single bbls i have a .410 that i like to plink with but for the most part every one that i hunt with uses auto loaders im the odd man out with the o/u. they think im snootie but i can snap off 2 shots while there still waiting for there guns to cycle.

    12g or 20g?

i prefer a 20ga for clay shooting and sporting but i have a 12ga mossburg pump next to the bed it depends on what you realy want to do with the weapon. i cant count how many times ive heard the queston "what is the best all around gun to buy somthing for home defence and sporting?", here in lies the quandry.... they are two totaly differnt types of uses realy requireing different types of weapons. a great all around gun is the mossburg model 500 or the remington 870 both weapons are proven on the battle field and on the sporting range. the are both quite simple in opperaton and easy to convert from one use to another as a matter of fact mossburg used to sell a kit that consisted of an 18.5 bbl, pistol grip-for home defense and a 26"bbl with a full composite stock for sporting use. a larger full size weapon is very hard to use in the confines of a home, a good test is to take a broom, put the bristles under your arm and point the handle out in front of you, turn out the lights and try to walk around the house in bare feet..... after your done knocking over all of the wifes nic naks try it with a yard stick. a larger weapon is also easy to have grabbed and taken off of you or deverted from its aim. another thing to keep in mind... nothing strikes fear into the heart of a man like the sound of a pump shot gun racking a round to battery
  8. its funny you metion the e collar. i went on a trip one time with a friend of a friend that i dont realy like...... he was hitting the dog all day with the collar for no real reason... so later we were all sitting around the camp fire he passes out drunk.. lets just say me and the dog had the last laugh that night and i dont think we'll be hunting togther any time soon
  9. i like to use a 20 gauge with a modified choke this way i can let the little buggers get a little farther away from the dog before i blast em. (doc aint too steady)
  10. i prefer a can of high tack with a shot of wild turkey but i will settle for some plane old starting fluid and boons farm on a low budget day
  11. here's a thought (beleve that a thought from me) leave the bolt in..... take off the stock and soak the recever in a bucket of gas or kero (i would suggest kero) then wash it out with brake clean then blow it dry with compressed air. repeat as needed a good swishing and soaking or swipe the old ladys vibrator and toss that in to the mix to keep it moveing. and smile'n .... beleve it or not that will work. i used to clean my 10/22 that way and it still works just fine after years of abuse.... i clean a lot of parts that way.and my wifes a303 because every time i take the bolt out of that thing i end up fighting with it for hours to get it back right, or you can try some type of "organic" type of solvent fast orange or simple green using the same method. it may save you a lot of greef further down the road when you cant get it back together again. just rember you will strip all oil out of it and it WILL rust amost instantly. all the carbon and crap will eventualy let go of the mettal scrubbing just speeds up the process
  12. since i own wiemaraners and am very active in rescue i will have to point out that most of the time hyper dogs are not only a result of bad back yard breeders (nut cutting is too good for them) but lack of excercise and attention. most people fail to acept a dog as a member of the family that needs and craves constant attention and love. the result is usualy a bored fat dog that tears up the house or worse. labs espesicaly young ones need at least an hour of RUNNING every day evan if you just play catch they must have excersize and love for there entire life. a dog is as much of a responsabilty as a mentaly challanged child.
  13. cheep loads from wally world and a skeet choke / imp cyl.
  14. any machine will ware out if used enough. most of my gripes are with quality control and fit and finish. i set the new baretta next to the stogie and the differances stick out, but evan the baretta has many flaws (fit and finish and finding flaws in such is a huge part of my job so i do have a tendancy to over look at things) i find that close observation is the key to any tool investment. dont be afrade to ask to lay both options next to one another or to look at a couple of differnt guns. any time that i buy a new gun i try to get my pick from several of the same model. maby the dude putting them together had a hang over on monday and it took till thursday to get his groove back. try to chose the friday gun
  15. the main difference that ive seen is the quality of the wood on the gun cheeper wood goes into field guns its just a matter of weather or not you want to scratch the finish on the weapon
  16. i would get the 20 i like to shoot a lot and the 12 just starts to get a little old after 100 shots or so
  17. any body have a sugjestion about a good clay thrower and or where to get one? im sick of the cheep hopps one that i have and would like to get a 3/4 cocker
  18. i'm supprised that they replaced the weapon thats rare it must have been realy wrong. i use the boat ore comparison a lot. the wife just bought a 686 onyx in 20ga and there's no way i would abuse that weapon like i do my condor. but i feel that her beretta is a much better pointing shot gun. when i sholder it it just feels better its hard to explaine
  19. i would make shure to get a bunch of differnt loads and take a friend and a good rest. ive found that thats the best way to sort out some of my shooting problems. its amazeing how differnt loads shoot because your gun is a replica it may have a lot less twist in the bbl because back then people were still using black powder to load with. if that is the case fitting the ammo to the gun is very important. also dont forget to take in ambient air temp, gun temp, wind, hangovers, and other distractions. as for the warrenty i just gave up if i cant fix it my self im shure that i know someone that can and for cheep or trade.

    Camouflage

thats great i was thinking the next time that you go to wally world take a strol thew the hobby and craft secton and see if they have any cut outs of leaves and such that you could use as masking give it that real tree look. (im lazy and paint cars for a living any thing that makes a little less tapeing) you can just hold them over the piece and spray thew them
