  1. Have you killed anything with the Fed 2 3/4" yet? If so, what, how far away, and how was the expansion/devistation? Also, are you shooting the 1 oz or the 3/4 oz slugs? I will try these at the range ASAP since OH deer season opens in less than two weeks. I'll have to try the barnes 2 3/4". Like you, I've tried ALMOST every slug. So far the best I've found have been the Winchester Partition Gold, Winchester Platinum, Lightfield Hybred EXP, and the Hornady H2K Heavy Mag. All shot 2-4" groups at 100 yards, with the Lightfields being the most accurate. The least accurate have been the Remington Core-Lokt and the Lightfield Commander 3". One thing I have done to help imrove my accuracy is have my trigger adjusted by Allen Timney. He took out the creep and reduced the pull down to three pounds. He only charges $65 and covers it for life.
  2. I've had the same problem with my SBE slug barrel. When I ordered it last February, I also ordered the foregrip. I believe we found the part number out of the Benelli catalogue at the gun shopand called to confirm the difference. As I mentioned this was last February. The barrel never came in but the foregrip finally showed. I got sick of excuses after eight months and was lucky enough to find a barrel in a different store. It turns out the foregrip they had sent me was the standard size. My gunsmith was able to reshape it to fit perfectly. From what I understand, this example of pathetic customer service is pretty much the norm with Benelli. Your gun shop should have a catalogue with the part numbers, and if the wrong one shows up they should be able to fix it.
  3. The twist rate is 1-in-28 for the SBE. Looks like we have the same set up. I would suggest sabot slugs only for a rifled barrel. I've read that a rifled slug through a rifled barrel will screw up the aerodynamics by cutting into the shape of the slug that was designed to spin on its own. I'm in the process of finding my "magic" slug and will let you know which one works the best. Unfortunately it seems to spray the Core-Lokts.
  4. I've recently purchased a rifled slug barrel and a Leupold 2-7X33 scope for my SBE. Anyone have suggestions for accurate slugs at 100+ yards? I really wanted to use the Remington Core-Lokts for deer and bear, but they are all over the paper at 100. The Winchester Platinum seemed to group well at 50, but I only had 3 to shoot! I'll be trying out the new Winchester Gold Partitions, Winchester Platinums, Hornady H2Ks, and some Lightfield Hybred EXPs. If anyone has had some good results with high performance sabots I would appreciate the feed back...and so would my wallet!
  5. I use a Kicks Gobblin' Thunder .655 in my 26" SBE with either Remington 3 1/2" #5, Winchester 3" #5, or Federal 3" #5. I can put 10 pellets in the spine and skull at 60 yards consecutively. I've found the 3" to pattern slightly tighter than the 3 1/2". Some negative experiences I've had with my SBE in the turkey arena: #4 seem to spray really bad. Not more than 3 pellets in the vitals at 25 yards. I also had a H.S. Strut turkey choke seize in my barrel. It really seemed to patter my 3 1/2" mags well, but when I went to change it out...that was a different story. No permanent damage (besides psychological).
  6. I've been having this same problem. Three of my friends shoot SBEs and two of them have jammed on the second round. I'm hoping that by oiling the recoil spring guide in the stock will help. I'll find out Wednesday.
