The pistol grip itself cannot be removed, but you can change out the stock to a standard stock. Simply remove the buttpad and one nut in the stock. It takes about 5 minutes.

The best way I found was to insert the spring into the tube, with the barrel pointed towards the ceiling, place the extension (making sure the end piece is in place) and slowly compress the spring and thread the extension on. It took me a couple tries at first, but it gets easier after the first couple times! If it still doesn't want to go on, I would suggest calling Benelli to find out if you have the right spring. 33" sounds about right though.

I would rule out the Remington simply due to it's weight. I absolutly love shooting my 1187, but it's a bear to lug around because of it's steel receiver. The Benelli seems like a great choice, especially if you are starting out a young shooter. You can start him on a 12" LOP stock and work him up as he grows into the gun. As much as I love my Berettas, they are lightweight and fun to shoot, but they don't have the stock selection that the Montefeltro does. He would notice a bit more felt recoil in the Beretta as well. If you have a bead sight, simply unscrew the factory sight and screw on the new sight. They are standard RH thread.

Gotta love those M4's. Best **** shotgun I have ever had the pleasure of working with, hands down! She's only a loaner, but beautiful, nonetheless!

The M4 we have been testing with has performed flawlessly. Light loads, heavy loads, mixed stuff. It doesn't care. This is easily a huge improvement over the M1 and is going to set the standard for future shotguns. We have bolted all kinds of stuff on it, trying to make it fail.
