Thanks for the link, Tuck. I just took the survey and submitted the responses I think we all would. I'm a Life Member of the NRA, and I think they probably have the most effective lobby for our 2nd Amendment cause with Congress, though certainly not the only one.

Taking the bolt out did the trick! The spring went back in as slick as you please, and everything else went right back into place. The SBE II is good to go now, and I've certainly learned a valuable thing. Thanks again, Tucker.

Thanks for responding, fellas. I'm still a bit ignorant about this inertia system, which I really like, by the way. I've been using gas operated semis for years, but this is my first inertia gun. Tucker is right, I have the bolt locked open. I'll fix that when I get home tonight. Everything came out just like the previous posts said; I just have to get it back together now.

Help! I've cleaned the recoil sping, and I've tried for the last hour to reinstall it, but Omigod, it's just too tough to go back in! Both my thumbs are raw, and I just can't try any more tonight. Is there a special tool for getting it back in? My lovely 1-year old SBE II is just a pile of parts right now, and I want to shoot it for trap this week. What's the secret, guys? Mudhen, I know you've been an advocate for cleaning and keeping everything together, but how do you reinstall that recoil spring? Advice greatly appriciated!

An alternative to Patternmaster is Wad Wizard. Check them out at www.wadwizard.com. I have both the Supreme and Swat 12 for my SBE2, and they both work as advertised.

cnewt14, I started shooting those 1200-1250 fps 1 1/8 oz trap loads with my sbe II right out of the box, with no problems. After about 200 rounds, I had 2 hangups in one 25 round trap event when I was trying 1 oz loads. Looks like Benelli's advice about 1 1/8 oz minimum loads is right, at least in my case. I've gone back to 1 1/8 oz loads with no further problems. You might as well fire off those 3" rounds, then try the 1250 fps target loads.
