  1. are there any dents in the magazine tube? had this kind of problem with my mossy and it had one dent in the mag tube that would just slightly hang up a shell. just something to check...
  2. in duck hunting its not a big deal, but when you are carrying the gun all day (upland hunting) the lighter benelli is awesome....quicker to get up to shooting possition and not as tiring to carry all day. I also went with the 26" barrel because it seemed to swing faster/smoother/better for me...but if this was a duck/goose/turkey gun I would have went with the 28 inch barrel. that 2 inches means alot when there are 3 guys in a blind and they dont want to get the muzzle blast off a shoot barrel gun...one of my buddies brought his winchester O/U out duck hunting and I nearly killed him..that thing was SOOO loud right next to my head....**** short a$$ barrels should not be in a duck blind. I think if you are going for an awesome all around shotgun to be used for everything that flies or walks, go with a SBE2 26"...that is what I did. also I dont think that the black matte finish is any more durable than the camo is...just what I've heard GL and you cant really go wrong...you can make the feathers fly with a $200 mossy
  3. I got my SBE2 off gunbroker.com. I found a few on there for $1220 shipped, and when I went down to the local gun store they had them for about $1480 with tax and I asked if he would sell me one for $1220 and he laughed and said he cant keep them on the shelfs for $1480....and he was right, i go in there about once a week to shoot the bull and he sells about 3-5 a week. The only bad thing about getting one of gunbroker.com is that from the time you buy a gun until the time you are shooting the it will be about 3 weeks...takes time for all the shipping and paper work.
  4. good lord, you must be shooting at some big ducks
  5. I use a wet paper towel, then a dry rag to get the mud off the exterior of my sbe2
  6. broke mine in with 3 boxes of federal cheapo....1 ounce, 3 1/4 dram 2 3/4 inch and it never missed a beat. and only cost about $7.50 to break-in hehe, however this might not be the case with every benelli.
  7. I will add to this, I have put about...500 shells through my new SBE2 and all but about 75 were at birds. I only had one problem and that was with a 3 inch duck load, and the problem was me...it was a straight over passing shot and when I squized the trigger the shot nearly knocked me over (I was standing there with my feet together just trying to keep on track with the bird). moral of the story is that a benelli will not cycle if it is not allowed to move some (put up against a brick wall and fired). a benelli will not fire (or will have problems) if there is not a solid shoulder behind it to stop it from going to far back, but my little girl friend can cycle the thing so you big boys should be fine. an interesting side note: was using xpert steel hi-velocity and had one bad shell, when i pulled the trigger it didnt fire right away, instead about a half second later it went off and it was weak (I could see the #3 shot come out and go) and the benelli still cycled that shell out.....weird. love the gun and have gonna 2 other buddies to buy SBE 2's and I would like to get a legacy for fun too =D
  8. have you been using gun cleaner on the camo of the gun?
  9. there are tons of people that use them, I just dont like any metal to metal cleaning.... however any barrel that is capable of firing steel shot through it should have no problem with a copper brush....I just dont use them, just seems like it would put more wear on a barrel than you really need to clean something. just my 2 cents.
  10. well, I love my new dog box, and keeping a dog warm is relative....it seals off nicely and has a plastic cardboard type stuff in it for insulation...or so they claim. do I think it would keep a hunting lab warm in 0 degree weather? yes...do I think it will keep a weiner dog warm in 20 degree weather? no I put a U-haul moving blanket in the bottom of his compartment and even on the few 30 degree days we have had when I get him out he is panting, which may just be from excitement, but he is not shivering in any case. It is one of their new extra tall boxes, and you could easily put 2 95 lbs labs on each side of the box...which will be nice for those kansas pheasant runs, in that he will have plent of room to move around. enjoy the hunting fellas
  11. i figure there is no way that paper towel is more abrasive than one of those wire cleaning brushes, which i would never use.
  12. I got a question, I use a cleaning rod and a paper towel and hoppe's elite gun cleaner and a cordless drill on low speed to clean mine. I have done this with my mossy for years, is this a bad thing. I just feed the paper towel through the cleaning rod eye, then wrap it in the direct the drill will spin, soak the paper towel with cleaner and run it down the barrel a couple times...then follow it in the same manner with no cleaner on the paper towel, I clean the choke in the same manner. can I damage anything doing this, the drill doesnt spin very fast at all, and i can have my barrel spotless in about 2 minutes.
  13. 11/26/2005 went with a good buddy, notice his gun on the right, talked him into getting it at bass pro this weekend [ 11-28-2005, 09:51 AM: Message edited by: savage25xtreme ]

  15. was thinkin about upgrading to a new duck call, have been using the walmart 8 dollar calls forever....I live in oklahoma and hunt mostly lakes and flooded fields. which one of the RNT calls might best fit this type of calling (or any other call for that matter). I am not the best caller with the 8 dollar jobs, I can do the hail call, a quack, and kinda do the feeding mallard (altho I generally will use a shaker for a feeder) any input on this matter would be great. I would like a good all around call that I dont have to be a pro to use, yet sound really great with nice volume. links to places to buy would be great...there is no set budget but I must be reasonable as I will be dragging this out to the lake, not showing it in a display case.
  16. personally I would contact customer service and get hooked up with a repair shop...I just got my SBE2 about a month ago and I go out clay/quail hunting with it and shoot loads that it isnt even rated to fire (1 oz. 3 dram) and it cycles flawlessly. I took it out duck hunting with 3 inch steel loads and it worked flawlessly on that too, and I dropped the thing in the mud on the way out to my blind =/ dont give up on the gun, get it fixed and it will work forever....I have shot the rem, beretta, browning and benelli autoloaders and you picked the right one out of the 4 IMHO
  17. just got one duck this day, still trying to figure out my local lakes....just moved here this summer. I think I need to get a duck boat to do real well. anyone know a decent "cheap" duck boat?
  18. when it says NIB that means new in box...i got my SBE 2 off gunbroker 2 weeks ago, very smooth transaction...but I bought mine from someone who had 740 feedbacks with an A+ average...If I was you I wouldnt be afraid to buy from anyone on there with 10 or more feedbacks...if they try to bend you over gunbroker has one of thier credit cards on file and will take money off that and give to you. I got a SBE2 for 1220 shipped to my house....that is unheard of from a store. Good Luck
  19. there are 2 on gunbroker.com right now. in the shot gun section do a search for "benelli montefeltro" and it gets 2 one is in the 950 range and the other doesnt have the reserve met yet. GL
  20. thanks tucker, ill find some of that stuff and hopefully it will get that black gunk off my brand new gun!

    MF 82

ok what is this stuff that came with my SBE 2...is the MF 82 a lube? a cleaner? both? is it worth a crap at either?.... i tried cleaning with it last night and it wasnt worth a crap. if there a cleaner out there that wont mess up the camo on this gun? will the birchwoods work ok? Im having a very hard time getting the very end of my choke tubes and end of my barrel clean. it has some black stuff that WILL NOT come off even after scrubbing. any info would be great.
  22. http://www.pheasantcountry.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1610 says it all
  23. went out pheasant hunting in SW Kansas this weekend and the benelli preformed flawlessly. we were shooting the kent 1 1/2 oz. 1400 fps 2 3/4 shells , and both of my hunting partners were shooting rem. 1100s and after firing about 3 boxes per day they were both complaining about a sore shoulder....but mine didnt hurt at all and still doesnt. and their guns weight alot more than mine. I traded with one guy for a drive and it felt like the benelli was more of a push in the shoulder than a thump like the 1100. either way the trade didnt last long one of the guys had a problem with his brand new 1100 lossing a spring that holds the next round in the mag. about every box of shells his would stop cycling and he would have to stop and fix it. on the way up there i got made fun of for spending $1200 bucks on a hunting shotgun, but on the way home there was none of that....hummmm benelli lover for life, and im already looking at getting and SS for trap
