I can't believe it. I sent in all the paperwork for a short-barrel M2 on Feb. 26th. They kicked the application back to me because I didn't fill out some form about shipping weapons out of state. Not sure what that was. Never seen it mentioned before. Maybe something that you need for a Form 1 only? Anyway, the letter said My application doesn't start until everything is in order. In other words, "back to the end of the line" But 2 weeks later It comes back all done. Took only about 8 weeks total.

I think that is why someone suggested to just buy a Nova. The Barrels by themselves are $$$ Try Ebay. people sell barrels on there often, but still not a lot cheaper than MSRP because they are in limited availablity. [ 03-27-2006, 06:14 PM: Message edited by: kengps ]

Not that I have ever seen. I looked once and gave up. I plan on cutting the stock down and building an aluminum plate assembly that will bolt in under the spring tube nut. I can mount an aftermarket pad to that. Benelli's are very long. Even finding a mount rail for my M2 took a while. The Benelli dealer didn't even know. It is a Weaver 93 for future reference. All the weavers are shiney blued metal. Leupold makes one in matt black. Took me weeks to find that out. Was going to have one refinished. These aren't remingtons. They are rather unique and thus info is hard to come by.

The retaining lever seems to be stiff on all Benelli's On my new M2 it is really tough to push the shells in and very difficult to get them out. I have seen others say they eject all their shells one- by- one as opposed to pulling them out of the magazine tube.

I wouldn't worry about coming up on this Psycho in the wild. He was pretty harmless.... Except to his girlfriend anyway.

Yes, there were pictures but they are gone now. The assembly order is as follows: First you put the red follower down the tube followed by the spring. Next is a round disk with a hole in it. Then slip the extension tube over everything and compress the parts and screw the extension onto the shotgun. If you wish to use the limiter you don't have to dissasemble anything. Just slide it into the hole at the end of the mag extension. The rod end goes first with the disk attached last. Then Angle the remaing washer with wings on it and slip it into the extension tube and let it go straight so it locks the limiter in place.

You can't put a collapsible stock on an M1, M2, or M3. The recoil spring is located inside of the stock. The M4 is gas operated. [ 02-19-2006, 02:11 AM: Message edited by: kengps ]

FN_FAL I'm not doing a Form 4. I am modifying an existing weapon by shortening the barrel. That will convert it into a class 3 weapon. I have to use a Form 1 for that. The barrel itself doesn't have to be registered. It still cost $200 though. What I'm trying to find out is whether Benelli imports the barrels already at 14" or cuts them down after they arrive in the USA. I have heard they do it after arrival but I can't confirm it yet. If they Cut them down in the USA then I am going to see whether I can have them modify my 18" barrel as they don't have a 14" barrel as of yet for the M2. If not then maybe I can find out if they sub it out. I would like it to be "factory quality" as that will make it identical to the factory barrel if they ever produce one. I had a problem with the choke bore on my barrel so it may get tossed in the garbage can anyway when they send me a new one on warranty. [ 02-18-2006, 01:27 AM: Message edited by: kengps ]

Hello, Does anyone know whether Benelli actually imports 14" barrels. I have heard that Benelli actually has them cut down once they arrive in the US. Anybody know for sure? What if I cut down an 18" barrel myself. Is it the same as a 14" cylinder bore factory barrel? Is there going to be a difference in the taper of the barrel. I'm not that familiar with shotgun barrels. Thanks for the help. P.S. Yes.... I know I need a BATF Form 1

If anyone has experience with putting lighter recoil springs in their M1 or M2 I could use some advice. Mine is a home defense gun. I would like to use the lighter recoiling Tactical shotshells. I know that is a problem with the Inertia recoil system of the Benelli. From what I understand the Benelli can handle the hottest loads as it comes from the factory. I have no need for 3" magnum round capability. Maybe at the most I would shoot some standard load 2 3/4" Slug rounds.If I should go to a lighter spring what would the limitations be as far as the heaviest load I can use without harm. Can someone tell me what disk #2 is for? It is not shown in the manual and doesn't seem to have any purpose. Thanks.

Russ F. There are no threads visible on the choke tube when installed. Maybe I need to clarify....The choke tubes are fine. The barrel itself is overbored to a larger diameter for the chokes to fit inside of. If you look into the muzzle end of the barrel you can see that the metal thickness is twice as thick on one side of the barrel than the other. Down the inside of the barrel you can see that the choke is offset to the barrel bore in the opposite direction. The borehole for the choke is not merely offset, but is actually out of line and actually pointing off to the right.

Just curious whether the choke tubes should be straight in the rifle bore. On mine the barrel has about twice the thichness of metal on one side than the other where is encircles the choke tubes. You can see a lip where the choke meets the bore when you look down the bore. which means the choke has an edge hanging out into the bore on the other side. I took it back to the dealer today. Then I went to sportsmans warehouse and they had an M2 with the exact same thing only the tube was pointing off in another direction. Any advice appreciated.
