  1. You make a great point... I own 4 firearms and I wouldn't want to part with any of them. A friend of mine threw a hammer at an intruder in his back yard. The police kept it for evidence then later destroyed it. The hammer had been in his family for 4 generations, nothing unique about it, but it was just cool that my friend had a hammer that his great grandfather used. Because my friend used it as a weapon the police saw fit to destroy it. This is life in California... sigh...
  2. So what is a good EOTech that has the right height for a Benelli M4?
  3. I have no idea what that means, cheekweld? Remember I am a complete novice...
  4. I always fuzz out my serial number if I show pictures of my firearms... you never know how it can come back to bite ya...
  5. The agent on the phone said no more than 10 rounds and directed me to page 72 of the Assault Weapons Identification Guide. (http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/awguide.pdf) Here is what is says in the C-DOJ guide Shotguns (6) A Semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following: (A) A folding or telescoping stock. (B) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip. (7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine. (8) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder. one of the good things about living in the PRK is that they have a enough real bad guys to keep them busy instead of bothering with good people like us.
  6. Well I did my homework today... I called my local ATF office in Glendale, CA. I spoke to a field rep. and they said the restrictions are on the importer. So having a Benelli M4 with a pistol grip and a tube that hold under 10 rounds is fine. I told her that I read on line that people have submitted form 1, she said the ATF will gladly take your $200.00 but it was unnecessary for the configuration I described above. She said I needed to also check with the California DOJ. I called them, as far as shotguns go, Californians cannot have a telescoping stock and pistol grip together, one or the other is fine. Detachable magazine is not allowed nor is a revolving cylinder. The tube must have a capacity under 10 rounds. So it sounds like I am good to go. I think I have done my due diligence, and look forward to enjoying my tube from SOCOMguy when it arrives.
  7. I could care less about the immersion capability... Obviously the AA can be found anywhere, but because I have heavy usage of surefire lights in my life, I always keep boxes of CR123s handy, in my car, desk, backpack, etc. a light is pretty useless ones the batteries die, so I always have plently of em on hand. If the EOTech makes my life easier and brings more enjoyment to using my M4, I don't see why I would ever take it off... Like I said I am a complete novice to the world of shotguns, I am not really serious about anything as far as the M4 goes, just looking to have some fun... I would still use my Glock .45 Auto for home defense, simply because I am very comfortable and confident with it in my hand. Hopefully I can learn to be just as comfortable with my M4 and I hope someday it will be the first thing I reach for in a home invasion situation. I really just wanted something new to have fun with that was of superb quality. While it may not be the best for shooting clays, and since I don't have any other shotguns, why not shoot some clays with it. However, I am open to any suggestions you may have so that I get the most fun and enjoyment out of my M4. What else do you suggest I do with the M4 to have some fun, where would the EOTech come in most handy in a recreational situation. I never used a scope before, but I assume zeroing out is something fairly easy to do and covered in the manual? Did I say it was pretty? Hmm, I think it looks spectacular, I also think the desert camo adds a lot of pleasing aesthetics to it. Don't you think? Maybe it is pretty?
  8. Wow this sucks, the M4 is really a piece of art in my book, and to trash it, is a sin. I hope they work this out for you. You paid a pretty penny for this firearm, hopefully benelli will replace it. Not to mention how disappointed I am that you had a problem with it after such limited use. good luck
  9. Well if battery is the main concern I like this one 553.A65TAN it uses CR123s, I always have plenty of those on hand because of my surefire and fenix lights. I also like the tan color, it will look better with my desert camo. can you foresee any down sides with this model? http://www.eotech-inc.com/product.php?id=2&cat=1 It talks about close quarters does that mean it's crappy for distance and hitting clays? I am not really sure how it works, is it like a laser that has to be adjusted for a specific distance? thanks for helping out a novice...
  10. I am thinking about getting an EOTech for my M4 and recommendations out there as to which model to get? I am just a novice and futz around with my M4, I am just looking for something to improve my accuracy and enjoyment, I don't need night vision etc... looking forward to your advice.
  11. Sorry to sound lame, but other than look cool, what does that stock really do for ya? ...
  12. Any legal problems with doing and extension or full tube replacement in California? I searched the forums but found conflicting information. thanks
  13. I am considering getting a +2 tube extension for my M4. Does any one have a photo of their M4 with the extension on? I have a desert camo M4 and I am concerned how it will look with the extension. Also will using an after market or even Benelli made extension compromise the gun in anyway? Durability, reliability, performance etc? What are the pros and cons of doing a full tube replacement vs. the +2 extension. Also any suggestions who makes the best quality extension or tube replacement and where to find? Thanks for your help
