Duggan, I am always willing to learn something. The barrels were labeled "low recoil" stamped. I will not argue that they may have been old barrels, but do they cycle low recoil rounds? And did benelli change the design becuase heavy recoil ammo would break parts of the bolt head/carrier? Let me know what you know.

ER, Like previously mentioned, I have shot light loads (typical 6,7,7 1/2 remington birdshot) and originally, I had the FTE, usually a stove pipe. After about a hundered rounds, it worked itself out. I sort of agree with what some other folks have said in regards to something "not being right" about the guns operation, but there are a lot more intelligent folks on this forum in that area. I do know they make a "Low Recoil" barrel for the M4. It has 4 gas ports instead of two. (literally, four little holes in the barrel near the pistons) I have seen them on gun broker etc..., but like everything else benelli, it costs a fortune. If you have a lot of dough, this would be the route to go. If you only want to shoot light loads, I am sure someone would swap the barrel for yours at no cost. (I think people find the Low recoil barrel less desirable since if you shoot full loads, you can break stuff on the gun) Good luck with it.

The stocks will not swap from gun to gun. They look real similar, but the reciever attachments are different. I tried to go that route when getting an M4 field stock. No-go. Good luck

Cleeford, I guess it goes with out saying, but I will say it anyway... THANK YOU! I am ordering the tap today and will follow your recomendations. I have been looking at those sights for 2 months now. (After visiting 7 different hardware stores with no luck) Be well

165$ shipped off gunbroker. Now that uis what i would call reasonable. Sun Szu said, "wait by the river long enouhg, and you will see the bodies of your enemies float by" I guess he was talking about benelli field stocks. For the rest of you all, hang in there.

I purchased a set of Meprolight tritium sights for my M4. The OEM windage screw on rear sight does not fit into the new meprolight rear sight. (this is the screw the gives the windage adjustment) The OEM screw is tight and I am afraidto strip it. I wanted to tap the meprolight sight to clean up the threads on it. Does anybody know the tap size? I have been struggling with it for a month or so. Thanks Anthony

Thanks for the Numrich info. They are and have been out of stock also. I would pay it if they actually had it in stock, but I am in no rush, I would just like to get one eventually.

Matt, Unsure if you were asking me, but I am sure 170 bucks is reasonable. (It was selling on ables for that) It could be more to some folks, but not me. I am really looking for someone that has a field stock they never use (added PG or added collapasble stock) and wanted to get some bucks for thier stock. As an example, I sold my PG stock on GB for 140 shipped. I was happy to see it go, and the guy was happy to have it. That to me is reasonable.

You snooze you loose. Maybe that explains why I don't have a standard stock eh? I appreciate the responses. Maybe next time

I have shot about 10 differnt types of slugs (about 50 rounds of each) and I have also shot buckhammers through a rifled choke, and I am confident when I say the truball shat the best hands down. Now, I have run out of truball and I am shooting everything else I have to save money, but if you are buying off the rack and have any choice, federal truball with a improved choke is the way to go with a benelli M4. Just my 2 cents. If you buy a bunch of federal truball and don't like them, I will trade you for some of the ammo I am shooting now. Best of luck.

To start off, I want everyone to know I am a reasonable person. I say that becuase, no matter how much I look, or how many retail stores/gunshops I call, there are no standard sythetic stocks available for the M4. I have been looking for 6 months. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks in advance.

Bought a set of meprolight tritium sights. The rear sight will not accept the OEM benelli windage adjustment screw. (The current thread is too small - just slightly) I figured I would just tap the rear sight. (it almost seems like they threaded it, THEN parkerized it and the threads will not accept screw) I figured it would clean the threads and I would be on my way. But I will be damned if I can find a tap. Any suggestions? Thanks

What is the difference from a regular barrell? Any help appreciated

I had ordered a set of tritium sights from meprolights for my 1 year old M4. Long story short, the rear sight will not recieve the standard windage machine screw that came with the original sight. It is the same piece, but the threads are different. I have been banging my head trying to find a tape that matches the original benelli windage screw, but to no avail. (Very fine thread) Anybody had this problem? I am sured it could be fixed by taping the meprolight rear sight, but I cannot find a tap source.or the right dememnsions on the tap. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance
