  1. Unob, Do you have a 5.5 mm wrench? If so, you should just simply offer it up yourself, rather than tell mewhat to do with mine. Mine was from a set of my fathers, so I don't care to part with it. I have a feeling you won't answer if you have one, but if you do have one, I have a recomendation of what you can do with it. This is the second time you have stepped on me in a thread. You get two.
  2. SD, I used a 5.5 millimeter, but I think a 1/4 inch might work. I used an open end, six point box wrench. Cute little sucker. I now use it as a key chain because I will probably never use it again. If your local, I would lend it to you. I am in ny.
  3. +3 on the bad patterning, but I have shot many rounds out of my original M4 choke, and nothing ever happened. I have the 11017 with the choke that came with it 2 years ago. (Mod i think) I mean, if something bad was going to happen, it would of. BTW, I broke one open, it has the buffering, but I am damn sure the shot was lead. I bought some becuase I had heard it was a little more water resistant that typical ammo. (The top of the round is heat sealed plastic.) Besides being a little more water proof, this ammo is par for buckshot.
  4. Unob, I was just joshin' wit ya! They have gunsmiths that do great work etc.... So I get your point, I was just commenting that whoever does the work has to have steel testicular fortitude to make that first cut. No flame here
  5. "What kind of Tools would you need?" Sandpaper, and a hand miterbox, and your time. How about a set of iron *alls to be cutting into someone elses expensive stock?
  6. Do you have a low recoil barrell? I would check the BCG to see if any of the metal has been splayed or deformed. Wow, this looks like it is going to be a good post!
  7. I am unsure if my comment will be helpful, but if I shoot 00 buckshot out past 40 yards with my stock I/C choke, the spread gets pretty damned big. (6-8feet) That means, in my mind, buckshot is pretty worthless for knockdown at 50 yards. I would like to have a choke that might increase my range to 50-70 yards. I cannot always swap out shells if my target isn't close enough. BTW, I aim my benelli like I do my M1A, accurate and center mass. Just 2cents
  8. The one thing I wanted to add to the thread, is that these things richochet like a mother. we were shooting in a sand pit, and normally, i dont see slugs "skip" (but I do every once in a while) But with the triballs, they would skip, hit the sand berm, then go flying out of the pit. No biggie, but I just figured I would add a cuationary ending to this mediocre tale.
  9. I always read threads and always want to hear the post questions follow up, so hear it is. Dixie Triballs + M4 = FUN!!! The recoil was a non issue, maybe a little more than buckhammers. Just FYI, htye are destructive as ****. As an aside, they cycled great, even with a mixed ammo set up. (e.g. buckshot, slug, dixie triball, buckshot in the mag tube)
  10. I believe it is 1/4 inch. I swapped out mine and used a 5.5 millimeter. It worked great. FYI suprisingly enough, the benelli uses a lot of standard stuff
  11. Long story short, first time at range, friend shooting slugs. Friend asks me if they are 3 inch shells and presents the shotgun to me with the carrier "locked" back. I stick my finger in to the reciever to roll the shell over that is laying in the carrier (to read cartridge label then WAMMO!!!!!! Bolt releases and smashes index finger against the front of the ejection port. Blood everywhere. There is nothing more humbling then having your finger smashed like a a-hole when you are showing off your badass combat shotgun. Glad you mentioned it Duggan. I bled like a pig all the way to the bathroom.
  12. That is turn the stock counter clockwise. It unscrews once the trigger group is removed
  13. Take out the trigger group and turn counter clockwise. It may be tough, but that's the way it goes. Amazingly enough, you did not have remove the butt pad or anything
  14. With the door, nothing. With the pine 6x6, I had a. 6x4 behind it that looked like it was dented with a baseball bat. The back of the 6x6 had grey powder and plastic and woodchip mash that looked like it was packed in there very well. I
  15. I have to admit that these are absolutley lethal. I shot a few rounds goofing off to see what it can do. 1. It will very effective blow the hinges of a door (In my case 2 1/4 in oak) not sure about steel, but I would be suprised if it did not. 2. I shot it though a 6x6 piece of pine at 20 yards (center mass) and it went right though with a nice little circle on the front and 3x the size on the back. 3. Shot another 6x6 piece of pine at close range and again through and through. It did take two shots on the dead bolt the first penetrated and made a general mess of the lock, but there were still remnants holding the door closed. (to note, the door was basically hanging off and could easily be kicked in on the first shot) But I am note sure if my shot placement was the problem. (I shot the wood in between the door striker plate and the knob) Just FYI. I was suprised about the accuracy at 20 yards.
  16. I just called for the life membership and they told me that my uncle needs to "give me" the membership and he has to be the one to pay for it. (in other words, I give him the dough and he pays for it)
  17. MuNgEr, Thanks, I was able to solve the issue by increasing the diameter of hole in the neck of the stock by less than 1/8 of an inch. Once that was done, it fit like a charm. (the clearance enabled the screw in the sling attachment to grab onto the recoil tube end) I suppose that plastic does not hold tolerances very well, or can easily be deformed. Thanks for the info!
  18. The field stock has a screw that is part of the stock sling attachement that screwes into the base of the recoil tube. Becuase my stock was hitting the hex nut, that screw was not able to "catch" the recoil tube. I just bored out the hole in the stock (1/8) inch off the circumfrence (sp?) of the hole in the neck of the stock and it fit like nobodies business. (with a little elbow persuasion) Thanks everyone.
  19. I just purchased a supposed m4 benelli field stock. I say supposed only becuase it will not fit onto my m4. To note, it was a take off from another benelli m4. Both shotguns were the 11017 models. It seems like the hex nut on the back of the reciever will not fit inside the hole in the stock. (the stock slides on until it meets the hex) Additionally, I am used to the stock (collapsable) screwing on to the threads at the base of the recoil can near the reciever. The stock I recieved has no threads in the neck of the stock that would screw onto the reciever. The seller swears that he unscrewed it from his M4 and droppedit in the mail. I believe that he believes that is the case. Any help or advice would be appreciated Anthony
  20. Duggan, Gracias! Yes, all answered. Triballs ordered.
  21. Oh yeah, BTW, my m4 cycles everything except BS ammo light birdbombs and bean bag stuff. (To be quite honest, I would not want to own a gun that could cycle that crap LOL) I was just mentioning it to the ER guy.
  22. Duggan, I called Benelli, and I am happy to report that we are both right! Yes, the original Benelli M4 came with 4 ports. This design worked well, but the 4 port barrel allowed the pistons to beat up the bolt carrier to the point that it began deforming the steel. (after many thousands of rounds) This caused the bolt carrier to bind up in the receiver when retracted to the rear. A high number of failure to cycle problems began to occur. Benelli then went to the 2 gas ports (unclear of year, but maybe 2007?) and this reduced the issues that occured with very high use with heavy loaded ammo, but did not effect cycling reliability. They still manufacture the four port barrels under the labeling of Low recoil. It took a few folks at benelli to answer, but thar et is!
  23. You have two options: the grace of other board members parting with one or Gunbroker. I just picked one up last week for 150 shipped. (I had been looking for months) P.S. A great member here offered me one, but I was slow checking back on the site and someone else picked it up, so my main advice would be to look frequently, and drop the hammer as soon as you see one. (chances are it will be gone within 24 hours) Good luck, something will turn up
  24. I have run a lot of rough stuff through my M4 (probably remington buckhammers as one of the worst recoil) but I was interested in running some dixie triballs through it. Has anyone shot them in an M4? Do you think I will not damage shotgun? I am not worried about the barrel etc..., but rather the gas system. I am not a worry wart, but figured the opinions here are free, so why not do a little premptive homework before dropping money on these monsters. Thanks in advance
  25. Sold me something for my 11017 when the part came and did not fit (it was for 1014) he told me he would not charge me for a restocking fee and would only give me credit. Sorry not to answer question, but I couldn't help it.
