  1. I am also looking forward to the review; notwithstanding the 922r issue, will the 'upgrade' be worth the $130? I'll contribute $10 for ammo for StrangerDanger to do some before and after testing with a cost/benefit analysis - I'm sure FFT has done a substantial amount of testing to make sure the parts equal or exceed OEM - just trying to figure out if the parts are "worth it"

SD - tell me how to get the 'contribution' to you.

  2. A bit more information would be helpful for running diagnostics. Have you cycled the bolt back and let it go forward on its own? Have you removed the trigger group to see if the hammer will lock back? Any foreign objects in the trigger mechanism preventing the trigger from setting? Does the trigger move freely fore and aft in the housing?

  3. Heather - welcome to the forum - lot of good info and friendly advise to be had here. If you spend some time searching the site, just about every option/accessory has been discussed. In my view, if you can find one nearly new in stock condition, your boyfriend can than build it to suit his needs. Nice of you to do that for him and I commend you for this choice. I'll trust as a condition of the gift, you maintain user rights :)

  4. I am an advocate for Kip - His products are among the best on the market - I would not dare comment on his work ethic. I have spoken with him on several occasions and found him to be a perfectionist with his products, very concerned he is making the best product and doing his best to take care of his customers. I would also agree he can be difficult to reach but I would never call this poor customer support. My guess would be he is doing the best he can under all the conditions - which we know nothing about.

  5. Loctite usually recommends a solvent to prep the threads - acetone, etc I think will also work - used to remove the oils from the threads and accelerate the cure. Might be the original install had some oil still left on the treads and they loctite didn't reach full shear strength?

Might also be worth a quick call to sidearmor to see if they do recommend a torque spec, although that should have been included in the instructions.

    Good luck!

  6. Not connected with these folks but have done business with them before - saw another thread on the Centurion ammo.

The reduced recoil rounds will be a plus for an extended shooting class - if you don't work out on a regular basis, might want to work your upper body a bit - that shotgun will get pretty heavy after while - unless they say otherwise, a good sling is a must.

Never trained at Front Sight, but as Chuck says, there's a lot of info on them on the net.
