Last Day Ducks!

My first Greenwing Teal. This has been a great year for me, i have only been duck hunting about nine years and have shot mostly mallards and woodies with a few blacks every year. This year I have shot several new species with this Greenwing being my favorite.

Good job tucker that is a beautiful duck, we had an awesome hunt this morning near the Ohio river, ended up with 12 mallards.

After doing some research and talking to some dealers it looks like a jet on my 40hp mercury with my boat wouldn't be much more than a strong trolling motor:eek: It looks like I will need a bigger motor to get some decent perfomance. I priced the Mercury Optimax 80hp Jet at $6885 so I need to start saving.

Thanks for the info sepp! How can I find out if a jet lower unit is an option for my motor?

I noticed you had some sort of mud motor in one of your pics tucker, what kind is it?

Any of you guys have experience with an outboard jet drive on your boat? I was thinking about upgrading from my 40 hp mercury to a jet. I asked a guy on the river today if he liked his and he said it was a pain in the butt with a lot upkeep, just wondering if this is the norm or if he just had some bad luck. I don't know anyone else that has one so any info would be appreciated.

We have a split here in Ohio also. I live in the south zone and our early season is 15 days and our late season is 45.

I just recently found out if you have cycling problems more than likely it's your fault as I wasn't using the right oil. My SBE is the best gun I have ever owned.

Thanks Tucker! I'm glad to be here. I spend a little time on Archery Talk but I'm glad I found this forum, I'm a huge Benelli fan. I was starting to get worried about my SBE because the fellas I hunt with were just bragging last week that I never have problems and I have them convinced on getting a Benelli. The fault lays on me for not lubing her up good.

Oh, and yes the Remoil is in the trash!

Thanks for all the help fellas. It performed flawlessly this morning, it ended up raining and was warmer than expected but I could tell a huge difference just by cycling it manually. I had a small bottle of the Outers oil in a gun cleaning kit my wife got me for my birthday this year and it seemed to do the trick. I will pick up some of the oils you guys recommended and once again thanks for the advice.

I cleaned my gun real good and lubed it up with some Outers gun oil. I'm going hunting in the morning, it's supposed to be 27 degrees so we'll see how that works out.
