  1. Hattles, what 1 oz loads are you shooting?

I've been shooting Fiochi spreader loads, max dram 1oz. and also Federal(Blue Box) max dram 1oz game loads.

No problems and I buy the Federals from Wal Mart @ $4.67/box.

  2. I havent got the chance to see which choke patterns better. I have a Supersport and a Vinci and the chokes are interchangeable. I was wondering if anyone has has patterned the extended chokes vs the flush on the vinci and which seems to throw a better pattern

I have used only two extended chokes in my Vinci...I prefer the extended modified tube when I shoot trap and on some sporting clay stations. I patterned the flush modified against the extended Carlson/Tom Knapp tube and I like the densness of the pattern from the extended tube better. My other tube I use most is my Extended skeet tube.

Also, I prefer the fact that I can change them without a choke tool.

  3. I have the standard r/h LOP pad available off my Vinci...never used it. Had to buy a short one to fit me. $75 if interested and I'll ship it to you.

I also have 2 Tom Knapp Gold signature extended Crio chokes, 1-Mod and 1-Skt for $30 ea or $55 both if interested.

  4. I have a question for any of you who wish to help me. My problem is i have parents and a small yard so my parents say no lab they are to big. so i did a little reaserch and found this breed the BOYKIN SPANIEL. they seem perfect (medium size, mild mannered etc etc) the thing is that i want to know more about them see if they are right for me. i currently have a spaniel (a king cavileer wich is a fun lap dog) but i really want to convince them (my parents) that this boykin would be good. so any info/books would be great. just want to learn about them. thanks for any input :)

PS. i hunt ducks, quail, phesant.

really what i want it for is as a companion that stays at home but on breaks i can take hunting as well as a dog that will fetch balls out of the watter and go on trail walks and follow me on the atv then be able to curl up next to me in bed.

    Try this

I've considered a Boykin or an American Water Spaniel

  5. Hello all I am new to the forum (and Upland Bird hunting)and just purchased a Cordoba Max 4 12G and would like a little info in regards to chokes. The gun will be mainly used for Doves, teal and duck (Texas) with a little turkey hunting. My question is where can I get the "© Special-Purpose Crio® Chokes Matte Black" choke for this model gun for turkeys? Is there another choke brand for turkeys out there that you guys are using in your Cordoba's?

Thanks for any help or advise (o:

Try Tom Knapp's website. I have purchased several of his signature series chokes for $36.95 each.

They are made by Carlson Chokes. I have also made purchases from Carlson which I think is a great deal for the money.

  6. I've been shooting my HK/SBE for 18 years now, with one trip to Benelli service department last year because of failure to eject. I've only put around 9-10 thou trough it before I had to get it fixed. It certainly wasn't the Inertia system that failed though.

In terms of a reliable action, I don't think they can be matched on a day to day basis.

  7. After 4 months, my friends CS problem was resolved through his gunshop and the Benelli area rep and cs. Benelli made it right and that is what good companies do. Thanks Benelli USA for doing the right thing and keeping a good Benelli customer happy.;)

  8. Thank you Hattles! I've done business with gunbroker.com and have already taken a peek at what they have for Vincis. Got my eye on a couple.

Yeah, being a beginner, doesn't much bother me - I figure I've got time to get good at it. All it takes is time and money, right!??!

9.5%? OUCH, and I thought our 8.75% was bad enough!

If you pick one up and need a short gel pad, Brownells and Numrich do not have the right hand pads in stock at the 13.5 rh size(makes the LOP 13-7/8 on the Vinci) let me know as my local gunshop had them for around $95 + tax. I spent $122 at Brownells thinking I would never find anything local in Fresno. Good Luck!

  9. Dang that sucks...Guess you shoulda bought a SBEII...lol jk. I wasnt referring specifically to the vinci. Just pointing out that thats the shortest I have seen. Good to know though that there not out yet for the vinci. Since stock LOP is 14 3/8 Its a good idea to know just how much shorter you can make it. Dont wanna go in there thinking you can bring it down farther than is possible. THen you just have a really expensive gun that doesnt fit well, and you probaby wont be happy with it at that point.

I bought the 13.5" rh Benelli Factory Gel Pad for the SBEII which put me at about 13-7/8 which is what I prefer. That was the pad Benelli cs said I should buy.

  10. You should be just fine....when you take a look at them keep in mind you can get replacement pads that will reduce trigger pull to as little as 13.5"...I'm pretty sure. Brownells, numrich, and midway are all great places to look for benelli parts. Numrich has the most factory stuff though.

GBM, I checked with Benelli and they don't yet make any additional pads specifically for the Vinci, but they told me to p/u the short 14" pad which will make the LOP under 14" on the Vinci which, due to the new pistol grip ergos is differant, slightly longer, from the other comfort tech stock design.

  11. Temptd2 buy that Vinci 12 gauge.........

I'm not sure of the prices you see locally, but check out gunbroker.com, they are a reputable websight and you can also save some bucks there. I have bought and sold without any problems. I also live in California and face a 9.5% sales tax.

Don't be self concious about being a beginner or a maybe a bad shot. We all started that way. That is why people practice, to get better.

I might add that my Vinci shoots the lighter 1oz Fiochi spreader loads without a problem.

    Go get 'em girl!

  12. Looking for a 26" or 28" in a Realtree APG Camo Barrel for a SBE II. Would even consider a 24" turkey Barrel. Please Email Thanks Chris

Good luck on that. It's almost like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Suggest you expand your search to gunbroker.com or gunsamerica.com.

Found this on GunAmerica : Benelli SBEII Timber Camo 12/24-spacer.gif$395.00

  13. Thanks for the help fellas. I'm heading to the farm now with several different brands of shells to see if this is isolated to the Rio shell. I'm going to try some 3 1/2" too.

I'll call Benelli Monday to see if they can help me out.

    Best of luck and enjoy...

  14. Hi, nice to meetch'all, have a question....

I'm new to shotguns (although not to shooting), I'm a GIRL :D and wonder if anyone has any info as to when/if the Vinci is gonna come in a 20 gauge?

I really want this gun (I think) because all the ComforTech Plus technology looks great but not sure if I can handle a 12 ga. and haven't any friends who shoot so I can try one.

Main purpose, sporting clays now and possibly upland birds at some point.

    THANKS!

If you like the Vinci, don't shy away because it's a 12 ga. The gun is very solid, has a more than manageable recoil , manageable weight and is well balanced, and you would be able to change out the standard recoil pad if you have a shorter length of pull as I did.($100-$125-isn't cheap) I also purchased mine on gunbroker.com for $1150 + s/h + local FFL/DROS charges. My neighbor is a small guy and has a bad shooting shoulder, but he loves my Vinci because it doesnt punish him.

I'm sure you will want to put on a shorter recoil pad. You can go to Brownells website and I would suggest the 14" pad-R/H or L/H depending on which way you shoot.

  15. First off, I am new here so howdy everybody. I've got a SBE that I bought new in 99' and it has somewhere between 10-11k rounds without any problems until now. I may have just found a shell it didn't like, but I doubt it. I know I probally need to replace some springs or ejector.

    The cartridge in question is Rio 2 3/4" 1 1/4oz 3 3/4dr 7 1/2 shot.

It FTE after every 2nd shot. Gun is clean and lubed. Any suggestions on where to start?

I have another gun just like it that I won at a DU banqent several years ago that have never been took out of the box and wanted to keep it that way. So I came here for help before I started disecting that one for differences.

    Thanks,

    Bushrat

After 17 years, my HK/Benelli did the same thing. Don't screw with it, contact Benelli customer service, get an RA# and send it back to them. They repaired mine at no cost to me, which was great. Now it swallows and spits again without failure.

  16. well the vinci it is!!!! stopped by gander mtn today to check them out in person. the vinci felt much better than the SBE. and my cousin has a really good deer rifle he let me have for next to nothin. thanks for the input guys.

Can I suggest GunBroker.com for your Vinci purchase.

I picked up my synthetic 26" for $1150 + shipping

Saved a bunch of money and happy as a lark

  17. 1187 Sportsman Youth.

By far, the softest shooting gun of the bunch.

And it can be turned into a full size model with a stock and a longer barrel.

Or, you can probably sell it later for what you paid for it.

I find the biggest deterrant to the 1187 is its weight.

  18. I could use a little advice. I have an 8 year old daughter and I want to get her started pretty soon with a shotgun. I just want to make sure it is a small enough gun for her to handle and one that will not have much kick. We shoot upland, ducks, and some clays.

I've been thinking a 20 gauge youth gun with shorter stock and barrel in an auto-loader would be the ticket.

    Any recommendations or other suggestions?

I shoot a SBE and love it but I'm not seeing a Benelli auto-loader in a youth size.

They do market the Montefeltro in a youth model called: MONTEFELTRO SHORT STOCK 20-GAUGE 2-3/4" AND 3"
