  1. SgtCathy, very good advice. I've got a 13-7/8" LOP and had both my wood stocked HK/SBE and my sythetic SBE(c.1996) shortened to fit. I set them up just a tad short to fit my waterfowl jacket during duck season. As for my Vinci, I had to buy a new short gel pad($122 ouch) in order to shorten it to fit.

My 5.5lb 20ga Montefeltro was a perfect fit out of the box.

  2. I am looking for some advise to compair the two shotguns, the SBEII or the American SBEII. Here's the deal, my wife wants to start hunting, mostly pheasents, and I want to buy here a benelli, a local dealer said for $1600 you get the SBEII with the comfort stock, or for $1200 you get the American SBEII that does not come with the comfort stock. He also said he has shot both guns and could not feel the difference. My question is: is there any difference in the gun, or is it just the comfort stock. My wife is 5' 4, and not a large frame, so the kick is her concern. I am just wondering if its worth the $, and if there is a difference in the guns? I can not find anyone locally who has the new SBEII with the comfort stock.

    thanks for the help,

With your wife being short, two things to think about.

    1. Length of pull. More than likely she'll need the shortest gel pad which will cost between $95-$122 depending on where you're able to buy one.

    2. The comfort tech stock of the SBEII will help absorb more of the felt recoil than the standard American stock will.

You might even consider a Vinci or an M2 for her rather than the SBEII. Just a thought.

Good luck either way as they're all great shotguns.

  3. I am considering buying extended choke tubes for my SBE2. (they are easy to install and un-install using just fingers).

Benelli itself recommended Trulock chokes. But Trulock is very expensive. For example, the MSRM of Trulock Super Waterfowl choke is $131.99 !!! That is kind of too much.

Today I found Carlson's is also making extended crio choke tubes for Benelli SBE2 and M2. The look like the same as Trulock, but with much cheaper price (less than $40 for each).

I am interested in buying an extended range 12GA crio super steel choke. The part number is #07577, and the size is .695".

I wonder if anybody had any experience on this brand, and, especially, on the model that I want? Would this extended range choke do any harm to my SBE2 (it is very tight compared to original Benelli Modified choke, and Benelli says the chokes tighter than M, including IM and Full, cannot be used for steel shots). Does anybody use this choke for steel shots?

    Thanks.

I have Calson's extended chokes for my HK/SBE, Vinci and Rem 1100G3 and find them reliable, agreeable and affordable.

THEY WORK, IN MY OPINION, AS WELL AS ANY OTHER CHOKE TUBE OFFERED.

  4. I now shoot a Vinci but I still have an HK SBE 3-1/2# to fall back on if need be. I really haven't shot the big shells in years but do remember the last time I did was duck hunting in N California with Snow geese passing over occasionally. I kept some 3-1/2 #2's handy and picked off a limit with them. The interchangeability was nice, If they're decoying well or you pick your shots you should get by with a 3" Vinci no problem. Of course the money you save on a Vinci could be spent on "heavy" 3" shells to make the difference.

  5. Can someone tell me what the choke constrictions are for the M2 12ga Crio factory chokes.

    Sure: FullII-Improved ModifiedIII-Modified

    Improved CylinderIIIII-Cylinder

    Skeet ISkeet II

  6. I am looking for a used Benelli SBE I or II to purchase, please respond if you have one for sale or know someone that would like to sell.:)

If you can't locate one locally may I suggest Gunbroker.com, I've used their website extensively to buy and sell without a glitch.

http://www.gunbroker.com/ scroll down left side to "firearms" click on shotguns.

when you get the page open type in the search window top-right side: "Benelli SBE".

Warning: prices range from $900-1300 used.

  7. Hello Everyone, I was just on the phone with the Beretta CS. I see all over the internet where people have the idea that Beretta and Benelli are related. Like Benelli and Stoeger. This is not true. They are both from Italy and have a relationship with importing but are two separate company's. Saying they are related is like saying Ford and Chevy are related or Mossberg and Remington are related.

    I don't have a problem with Beretta but I love my Benelli's I own a M1 a MR1 and now a Vinci.

Beretta is owned and is run by Ugo Gussalli Beretta and his sons. The parent company; Beretta Holding, also owns Beretta USA, Benelli since 1983, Franchi, SAKO, Stoeger, Tikka, Uberti, the Burris Optics company and a twenty per cent interest of the Browning arms company.

  8. I recently lost eyesight in my dominant eye (left) and have had to switch to my right side. This has not been a problem, but my question is- will I ever be able to shotgun (instinctively shoot) accurately with only one eye?

I'm certainly no doctor but I would think that over time your body and mind will allow the natural transformation to again become an instinctive shooter. This very thing happened to a guy at our skeet club and it took him less than six months to make the switch. He's now hunting and shooting skeet and five stand like he used to...we've nicknamed him "dead eye", not because of his loss but because of his ability.

Best of luck and good shooting.

  9. In all honesty I have used just about every after market choke they make for the SBE2 and I really don't think that any of them did anything the factory chokes wont do, except for my spreader choke(skeet) and my extra full turkey choke, anything in between can be accomplished with the five factory chokes.

I have to agree with you. I do use Carlson's extended chokes for three reasons only.

    1. easy to change

    2. choke variety

    3. quality for the money

  10. has anyone seen a video of an m2 20g ? no luck on youtube.

I'm sure the M2 20ga is very similar to the 20ga Montefeltro I shot for years without any problems.

My suggestion would be if you want a 20 gauge, buy the M2. It's proven effective and reliable.:)

  11. thanks for your help tucker.

    One more question,

When I try to take the barrel off, it's extremely tight. I almost have to put a lot of force/pressure. Is it normal?

P.S. Top receiver is mated to the lower receiver correctly.

    Welcome aboard.

I would suspect that the camo finish would affect the already tight tolerances of the barrel fit. It'll wear in with use.

  12. here's the thing , i always shoot 1ounce shells for small bird hunting maybe some 1 1/8 ounces also.

i figured out maybe i'll get the vinci since it kicks like a 20 gauge or maybe the M2 20gauge .

i never owned a benelli before so i need some opinions.

how do you compare these 2 guns.

BTW the vinci costs arround 2300$ here and the M2 will probably be arround 2000$, and they both fit me well.

If I may ask, what state or should I say country do you live in?

I bought my Vinci through Gunbroker.com for $1150 and I really like it a lot. I've been shooting an HK/SBE for 18 years.:D That said, the M2 is another great gun also. You can't go wrong, in my opinion, with the purchase of either one.

  13. I would say $800 for a near new M-1 is very fair. Looking at Gunbroker I see them asking for $550-$1300, both Benelli and HK/Benellis'.

Benelli has always been the manufacturer, HK was just the importer before Benelli USA was established. They've been owned by Beretta since 2002.

  14. Hi. I just recently purchased a new 20ga Nova and it is my first Benelli product. I come from a long past of 12ga pump guns (Mossberg 500, a Coast-to-Coast MasterMag (Mossberg 500) and Winchester 1300). Thank Tom Knapp and his fancy shooting for this purchase. I'm a pheasant hunter over a flusher. What am I in for?

    Welcome to the Benelli world.

You ask: What am I in for?

Hopefully some wonderful pheasant dishes and a lot of great memories.

    :cool:Good Luck!

  15. Thought that would get heads turning, am after a firing pin retaining pin oring.

As i am not in the usa, does anyone no the specs on one eg diameter etc, material made out of etc, so i can go to a seal house in NZ and get one.

    Cheers

Contact Benelli customer service. I'd bet they could tell you where to get one.

  16. Does anyone make an aftermarket choke tube for the Crio Barrel? Like for the Cordoba 12ga. pre 2006.

You could go to Carlson's Chokes as they make just about every choke to fit every shotgun imaginable. I'm not 100% positive but I do think the early crio chokes were equivalent to the standard Benelli choke and not the newer crio "plus" chokes of today.

  17. Here is what the "Gun Nuts" from Field and Stream had to say...

    1. 16% greater pellet energy.

    2. Leads reduced by 8 inches on 40 yard crossing shots.

    3. A recoil headache. The 1 ¼ ounce Hypersonics will generate almost 50% more recoil than a “standard” 1450 fps 1 ¼ ounce high velocity steel load.

High velocity steel does seem to work even better in the field than it does on paper but my gut reaction to HyperSonics is, the extra recoil isn’t worth the extra killing power and shorter leads. Of course, I am easily bruised. So, is it worth it? You tell me.

  18. Rost, I completely understand, I've owned 4 Benellis. Benelli fixed my 17 year old HK SBE last year when it quit cycling and and it only cost me the price of shipping it to them. Shoots like new again. It's semi-retired now that I have the new Vinci.

  19. I just bought a new Supernova, my first shotgun. After shooting trap several times, I have realized the pull is about 2" to 2 1/2" short (at lest that is what my local gunsmith told me). This may sound unbelievable, but at 6'9" I have problems with a lot of things fitting correctly. I brought my supernova to my nearest gunsmith to see about lengthening the stock and he recommended asking this forum as he really wasn't sure. Does anyone know of a kit or something similar which would allow me the extra length I need? Or does anyone know a gunsmith in the Chicago area that could lengthen the pull for a reasonable amount of money?

    Thanks for the help,

    Jake

Good luck. That is a very tough task for any gunsmith and I would imagine very expensive.

The problem will be the synthetic stock. I recommend calling Benelli CS to start with.

  20. I just took mine out dove hunting for the first time saturday and all I can say is I'm in love! I killed more doves than ever before, my brother was just looking at me going "what, you been taking shooting classes or something?" I just looked at him and said "this benelli is bad @$$, aint it!" I was very pleased to say the least. The gun came up great and performed flawlessly all day. Any concerns I had going into hunting season with a new shotgun were dismissed in just a half a box of shells. I still grin everytime i look at it. My American M2 is all black, all business.:D

Just amazing what a little bit of confidence in your shotgun can do for your shooting ability.
