  1. I just ordered me a new super black eagle II and also the rifled slug barrell for it. Is there any ammo anyone can reccommend for both barrels? Also any other helpful info to get things started and keep them running smooth. Thanks for any suggestions.

Congrats on purchase of SBE II.... what distances will you likely be shooting your slugs?

For small game I like the SuperX brand #5 or #6 high brass and clays use the Federal case of 100rds that Walmart sells. 1 1/8oz #7's or #8's.

Myself will be shooting the Hevi-13 or Fed Flite Control in the spring gobbler season.....last year used the Fed Flite control in my SuperNova with a .665 choke.

  2. My SBE II was also tight to remove barrel when it was brand new.....the paint will wear in that area with use. I used the Benelli to bring down a few squirells last week as well in MD.....love it!

  3. I am very much in interested in buying the Benelli SBE II but I was told that it can not cycle the 7/8 oz light load , the minimum it can cycle is the 1 oz loads with 50/50 success ... How true is that ? Is a there a way around it ?

I am a heavy user of light loads , mostly for clay pigeons.

    Thanks,

I had the same dilemma a few months ago.....(read that the SBE II would be a jam o matic with ight loads). The manual states 1 1/8oz loads....(which walmart sells for $20/100 for target loads in Federal brand). The manual also states a break in procedure for sucess in shooting the lighter loads. My SBE II has no issue with even the 1 oz loads? Regardless the 1 1/8 are no more in price for the target loads and are listed in the manual to cycle. (if they dont after break in...im sure Benelli will take care of it). Im glad I took the plunge, and didnt listen to all the writings about the gun wont cycle only 3.5 inch 2 1/4 oz loads! The SBE II is a great all purpose shotgun for sure....from clays to turkey to ducks. If your willing to shoot clays with 1 1/8 oz target loads buy it.

  4. My SBE II will run 1 oz loads all day long.....brand new gun out the box run 25rds heavy loads through it. The next few trips to the range run 1 1/8 (about 150 rds)....then tried the 1 oz target loads, run perfect. This was even with the gun not being cleaned. I normally buy the 1 1/8 oz loads anyway but was just curious if the gun would eat the light loads. I use mine for clays quite often with zero issues.

  5. With in the last year have purchased 3 Benelli products (new): SuperNova, Youth Nova and SBE II. The Nova (youth model) was sent back twice for the same repair...the shells ejected out the bottom. The turn around time was about 2 weeks each time the gun was sent back. I was very unhappy with having to send back twice to get properly repaired not to mention having to pay shipping to get a brand new gun fixed?

    SuperNova....no issues at all

SBE II....the gun functions perfectly, even the 1oz target loads. My nit pick with this gun is the fit of the stock to the receiver, it has a raised edge...for the price of the gun been thinking about sending it back as well.

  6. So far my SBE II has run everything I have fed it.....even the light 1oz target loads (was expecting it to have an issue), but run perfect! To date have run about 300rds through it with no internal cleaning.....only one box of heavy hunting loads and a few 3.5mags. :D

  7. I heard today that the chevrons tend to bubble and fall out in either cold weather or when they get wet. Is there anything to this?

    Chris

I have a SuperNova and SBE-II.....so far no issues with the chevrons.

Myself also read and heard the SBE-II had issues with target loads....mine runs them perfectly.

  8. Not just the youth model, mine is a regular Nova 20ga and I've seen other threads that include the same model gun and the Super Nova as well. So go figure

Fikester, sorry to hear about your experience with Benelli. It just makes me lose more hope that my gun will come back working. I'm giving Benelli one chance to fix this and if it still doesn't work I'm returning the gun for a refund/exchange. I've saved up some more money since I purchased this Nova so if I have to spend a little more for a better quality gun then so be it. I just thought I was starting out with a good quality gun to begin with when I went with a Benelli :(

In the last year puchased SuperNova 12g, Nova youth 20g, and just this week got the SBE II.......the youth 20g is the only one with issues. Yes its very upsetting buying the "best" and still having issues. Back to the youth model, when it was shipped back a letter was enclosed that stated what they did and also said it was test fired. Funny walked outside the dealers location in the woods.....first shell loaded was ejected to the ground. I then asked the dealer to demo "how to properly load it" ...he also failed to load the gun when pumping shells from the magazine (ejected again from bottom). Im highly upset with the service from Benelli....especially after dropping $1400 on the SBE II. I will post results when the youth model comes back from service the second time....the holiday will likely slow the return.

  9. My SBE II arrived yesterday.....got a chance 2day to run a box of ammo through it, it run perfect. I love it! Well worth the wait.
