  1. Thanks for your reply Unfortunately they are out-they only have the newer version in stock: http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Detail.aspx?pid=741090&filter=benelli+forend+slide+support&catid=0 I'll keep checking though.
  2. As always, thanks for looking My 1990 HK imported M3 needs a new Forend Slide Support. It's part number "72" in this diagram: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=681/schematicsdetail/Super_90_M3_Military___Police The problem is that my M3 is much earlier than the serial number cutoff in the diagram. All of the companies I have checked with who reference the earlier version to fit my M3 are out of stock (Numrich, Brownells, HK.net, SARCO, and Jack First). BenelliUSA couldn't help me either. Do any of you have a source for obscure Benelli parts that you don't mind sharing? Thank you in advance for your help.
  3. I think you're right TK. Considering the havoc I caused with a mere heat gun I'm reasonably certain that me applying a torch would be far worse. Simply put, I don't have the stones to tempt fate and find out-I like my M3 far too much to mess around any more than I already have. Ohio_M4, thank you for finding that thread-it was extremely educational (to say the least) Could someone please suggest a good smith who knows their way around inertia drive Benellis to safely remove my mag tube? I don't know anyone here on the NH seacoast to do the work, so I assume that I'll need to ship the gun out somewhere. Thanks again for all of your help everyone!
  4. Great looking rigs Hookster!
  5. Excellent points Two-Wheel! The best way to mitigate being dazzled by your own splash or to have your own illumination used against you if you do a dry run through your own home. No, I'm not saying to lock and load and hunt down the cat in full battle rattle (), but to do your observation in a more subtle fashion. Grab a flashlight and go exploring with the lights off. Is there a large wall mirror over the mantle that will make a perfect reflector for you to blind yourself? Is there a large potted plant in the hallway that you'll trip over? Will moonlight shining in from the patio doors silhouette you when you enter the room from the other side? You get the idea... Years ago I used to play flashlight tag with my daughter-it was very educational to see where a person could hide in the dark. By the way, love the M500AB!! I have one on my 20" skunk slaying rifle-it's a beast. I really like the M500 forends and run several of them. The ergonomics and controls are perfect for me, and all of my defensive carbines wear one.
  6. First off, thanks for looking Before I end up destroying my beloved, irreplaceable M3 I think I need some professional help in removing the magazine tube. I've read the older how-to threads here about removing M1/M2 mag tubes and I assumed it would be similar, but clearly I'm doing something wrong. Per the advice of the other posts I purchased a heat gun and heated the receiver up to liquefy the thread locker. However, I can't seem to break the tube free no matter how hard I try-and I've heated the receiver up so much that the plastic forend support has started to deform Since there are no flats on the tube I'm having a hard time getting a decent grip on it. I've tried wrapping the tube with tape and attacking it with a pair of slip joint Channel Locks, but I'm afraid of harming the receiver by applying too much force. Is it just a matter of getting medieval on the tube after it's heated? I was under the impression that it should be relatively easy to break free once heated-so what am I doing wrong? These tubes have standard threads-lefty loosey, righty tighty right? Thank you in advance for your help. It looks like I'm going to have a problem finding a forend support for my shotgun (serial number M087940), so I don't want to make things worse and try again without professional help.
  7. I'm not assuming anything actually I have no idea how many people have had low-light training. That said, I would hope that if someone takes the initiative of putting a white light on their fighting weapon that they also take the time to learn the basics. Like anything else, having a weapon light without knowing how to use it properly as a fighting tool can be a huge liability.
  8. Only if you're facing someone who hasn't been trained in low-light fighting. Anyone with a modicum of training isn't going to stand there with their light on and be a target. Move --> Strobe --> Move --> Shoot --> Move ETA: I have been evaluating the 600 lumen TNVC head mentioned earlier in low-light carbine courses. After being illuminated with the TNVC head, a suspect with night-adjusted vision will be effectively blind for nearly a full minute, unless he showed up wearing a welding mask.
  9. Lets try this again: Notched forend, required to run in manual mode:
  10. First off, thanks for looking. I have an early HK marked Benelli M3 with a one piece 7 round mag tube. The tube has become fairly beaten up over the years and I'd like to replace it. Does anyone have an idea on where I could find a replacement? Thank you in advance for any leads.
  11. I've seen it done with a different recoil pad installed. The LOP is my only real gripe with my own M3.
  12. How does it handle with the Surefire installed?
  13. My M3 is around 20 years old and has had thousands of rounds through the pipe. The only real problems I've had were operator induced.
  14. Hello Apex. I have a Mesa 6 round carrier mounted on my M3. It was purchased from Brownells (part number 100-003-971, listed for the M1/M2). I had to notch the forend slightly to run the gun in manual mode, but it wasn't a big deal. Although I was initially hesitant to trust the single screw mounting method, the Mesa carrier fits the receiver contour of my M3 perfectly, making the mount rock-solid. My only other concern was that the added weight of the carrier would somehow mess up the M3's inertia drive when running in automatic mode. I'm happy to report that my concerns were completely unfounded. I've run everything from lightweight trap/bird loads, to reduced recoil LE slugs and 00 buck, all the way up to heavy 3" magnum 000 buck without a single issue whatsoever. Hope this helps! ETA: I tried to post pics of my M3, but apparently posting images is disabled until a new user has five posts.
