Thanks. That helps. Seems I am almost set on the smaller footprint 18350 body PLHv2. Hot button and Tail caps are out of stock pretty much everywhere, however, I like the Modlite HotButton (Flat one, not the one pictured above) and possibly a SureFire UE cap. I may need a Unity Tactical Fusion LightWing if I go that way though, which adds to the overall price. Maybe I am over complicating things and there is a better way?

I was looking to buy a light setup for two rifles and the M1014, but will have to spread the purchases a bit. I am in no hurry, so I may just get the light and a mount and wait for the trigger switch.

I hear ya man.  bigtexordnance gets modlite buttons on occasion. I looked everywhere for a hot button couldn’t snag one until I got the notification from them. There’s also a group on Reddit that follows modbutton retailer stockists

I was told last year the tank wasn’t large enough to do the Benelli M4 barrels in Armorlube.

I’d probably just have the parts Cerakoted in carbon black. Avoid the threaded parts of the magazine tube and the interior. Avoid the chrome barrel extension, seat ring which seats against the face if the receiver, and gas piston channels.

I thought about cerakote but wanted to go w something harder for the exteriors only. Armorloob claim to have another coating that’s superior to (and specifically meant to replace hard chrome) not sure how that would work out on a shotgun though.  I reached out to their Michigan affiliate/dealer but have yet to hear a response.

  3. It’s about 11 years old at this point so it did take a while to oxidize.NP3 isn’t what I’m looking for in a coating. I do understand it’s corrosion prevention effect to certain degree but the H20 conversion is something that doesn’t interest me (especially the cost and wait time to get it back).

  4. Hey folks. I was wondering if anybody had a m4 barrel coated? If so what did you go with? How’s it holding up? etc I’m thinking about sending the barrel and a mag tube in to get rid of the parkerized crap finish that’s getting rusty (not pitted) in a few spots. The mag tube will be coated for aesthetics only. I’m thinking armorlube might be a good choice (maybe a bit overkill) if it can adhere to the titanium mag tube. Any thoughts or advice is much appreciated.

  5. Smaller dots can do anything a larger dot can. A larger dot isn't as accurate at a distance because it will obstruct more of a target. So it can't do what a smaller dot can.

  6. I can definitely relate. On one hand... I laugh at my old lady and mock her relentlessly (in good faith) when she's upset she "broke a nail". On the other...the scratch on my SCAR 17 barrel (that I inflicted while swapping a muzzle device)  is driving me up a wall.

  7. I wanted to share this info as somewhat of a public service announcement to fellow Keystoners  who like me have lost all hope in our game commission and ask a few questions.

For those not in the know here in Pennsylvania we have a very archaic game commission. They prefer muzzleloaders to modern sporting rifles and pass legislation that basically keeps us hunting deer the same way Paul Revere and your Great Granddaddy would have (muzzle loaders, bolt actions and pumps).

We still can't hunt deer, elk or bear with semi-auto rifles. It sucks...

But (since recently) we CAN now hunt said game with a semi auto shotgun. Needless to say I'm excited about this change and enthusiastic about taking the m4 out for a hunt. Is there anyone out there who could shed some light on distance, ammo, choke for a humane/clean kill?

Any deer hunting advice with a gauge is very much appreciated as I have none. Thank you.

Can I get your take on the Benelli M4 Tactical as opposed to the Benelli M1014 that I have? Any positives or significant differences on each one?

I think a pro for the mil. model is the fact that it's more or less a fighting gun that can do it all. A con is the fixed stock position.

The m4 tactical has the 3 position buffer tube to adjust length of pull on the OEM collapsible stock and modular choke system.

I own the tac model because I don't have longer arms for that fixed length of pull on the mil model. Otherwise I originally would have went that direction. If you ever want the 3 position tube it can be done. There's how to guides and a wealth of knowledge here thanks to Stranger Danger,Benelliwerkes and many others.

  9. That's the military model with a fixed choke. I believe it's modified or improved cylinder. Either way regular (Remington Sluggers for example) slugs, 00 buck should break it in. After 100 or so rounds try some target loads. The m4 can eat anything except mini-shells without a hiccup given a proper break in period.

  10. Nothing wrong with recoil management. If it works for you and gives you an advantage then it's a worthy piece of kit for you. I believed my m4 needed a weight loss plan. I waited with baited breath for a CC titanium tube to show up in the mail. I appreciate the difference in how the weapon handles. I personally have no reason for a break (but would love to find a flush Teague titanium choke stateside). Porting the Barrell has also crossed my mind a time or two.

I've been trying to shave weight on an m4 and SCAR 17 lately (due to scoliosis induced back pain )so my opinion is admitadly bias in favor of the "pounds equal pain" argument.

M4s are hella fun to build up. We all want to ours to serve our own specific purpose and intent. Godspeed with your build brother. If you get one please review it in regards to performance & muzzle climb.

I know it isn't necessary, but it is something I would like, for various reasons.  I didn't post this to debate the necessity of it...  I appreciate your opinion though!

You asked for "thoughts". I'm not judging you bro. "One man's trash is another man's treasure" they say. There's no debating that fact.
