Does anyone know for sure if I have to take the Mesa stock off to get the trigger guard out? I know when I installed it the instructions required it but wasn’t 100% on every time
-
OMG I just got an MS1 padded. A million times more comfortable. It just fit the loop on my MESA stock as I don’t have my HK hook setup yet. I may just leave it as is though. Highly recommend at this point.

Thanks Stranger. I read through your tutorial. I am used to working on my CZ's (which are all roll pin) and my 1911's. I'll take on a small project as long as their is a good tutorial or youtube video out there. Doesn't look too bad except for that safety issue. Perhaps I'll get the wife to provide a second pair of hands for that part. Do you think adding a tiny radius to the roll pin might help it float over the spring as its being inserted? Does the pin already have one?

Bought the snap ring when I pulled my old tube and carrier

I went ahead and ordered a new guard. I have all the tools necessary to swap out the components. I certainly have the time to do it now anyway. My concern in the old guard was with it being off spec I felt it might cause some unwanted resistance in the action. It’s not bad by any stretch but it’s definitely tight.
-
How tough is it to swap the parts? My oversized trigger group is subconsciously annoying me but I am scared to invest in a new one bc of the parts swap. I am fairly handy with my guns and do a little home gunsmithing but I am nervous about breaking/losing parts. Are the metal trigger guards easier than the polymer? I read a thread on here about an out of spec one that made me nervous. I would let my local gunsmith do it but it would just take forever and I want my gun.

I just went through this bc my S2 Delta has quick release buckles. I ordered a padded MS1 for more comfort and it doesn’t have them. I decided to use the loop adapter (plenty on eBay, didn’t see any on amazon but it was a quick look) with an HK hook.

You can just buy a 1 inch sling loop adapter and attach the Magpul from there. You will just need to install an HK hook on the sling.

Its my budget build rig. I am just now getting into shotgun and wasn't going to blow a lot of $$ on a rig. I did however want something useful that I felt would work. I decided early on to use the ESSTAC cards so integrating them was easy. They fit much nicer in HSG TACOS but I wasn't spending the $$ plus they were getting scarce the last couple of weeks. Its a Condor MCR3 chest panel. I used cheap Tigris mag pouches with decent molle on the front. Tactical Tailor 6 round Molle carriers (they also sell a velcro version). The rest I added with things I had already. The harness is condor from another chest rig I had that now wears my hydration bladder instead. The tourniquet and EMT shear holder is a cheap One Tigris also. I added them bc a lot of the classes I take require some for of tourniquet as a minimum med kit. The light stick was an add just bc I had an extra loop, lol. If I was being serious I would go with a larger chest rig with a bit more real estate and all TACOS and Tactical Tailor.
-
Thought I would show off my chest rig. It’s not 100% complete yet. 53 rounds of 12 gauge in an easy to access setup with knife (I had it so I decided to use it, lol), tourniquet, and med shears. I am waiting for my tourniquet to arrive later today. if I want I can add my hydration pack from my other rig. I wanted to use horizontal shell carriers in front. I had 1 vertical 6 shell carrier around already so I bought 2 more and just used them on the front of the M4 pouches until I get the horizontal ones. They work fine pulling shells but they are slightly awkward compared to a horizontal configuration. The horizontals are backordered indefinitely so until they arrive these will work. The upper chest card I will have to test out bc I am not certain how much hold the Velcro will have. It works fine around the house but may come loose running around. In any case I may sew on some of the industrial strength type Velcro to the chest plate. I also contacted a couple of shell card makers to produce a 9-10 round card that fits the top better. If I do that I may just sew the whole thing on.

I have always wondered what the philosophy was behind running the rear on the opposite side. I have tried both and just found that way more comfy when shouldering but could have easily gone the other way with more slack or a softer strap.

I have searched the forums and it appears the Blue Force padded slings and the Magpul MS1 come highly recommended. I own a couple of non padded Magpuls and lately I have been using S2Delta. Each has its strong and weak points. The S2 is great but with a heavy gun at the end of the day you are wanting some padding or a softer sling. Are there any other recommended slings people are using? I saw the Vickers M249 versions but wasn’t sure how bulky they might be. Right now I am leaning toward the MS1 but I am still deciding.

I realized one thing after I posted and that was the QD plate was going to get in the way of my ESSTAC cards. I went ahead and changed it to the provided HK loop type plate that came with the stock.

I hope that works. Since there was no picture post instructions I figured a hosting site wouldn't be necessary

I’ll try and get a pic. I don’t have photo bucket anymore so it may take me a min to figure out. Scalarworks actually has in their directions a procedure if you don’t have a torque wrench but I always recommend using one. I have a couple of precision rifles and I mount my own scopes bc I am ocd about it. My father-in-law just cranks his down and he has broken a Leopold reticle before.

Well the last of the packages arrived today. The new Titanium magazine tube looks great and seems to have taken a lot of weight off the gun. It feels a bit more like my 870 weight wise when slung now. Installation was a breeze. I used a 20 dollar heat gun from amazon and it took about 5 minutes of heat to break the thread lock. I did as recommended on here and primarily heated up the tube rather than the receiver. I did on occasion place the heat gun in the receiver focusing on the bottom of the tube a little bit but 99.9% of my heat was on the tube itself. I used a pair of channel locks on the factory tube to turn it since my first attempt resulted in a warm hand. In any case it is a simple install and not one to worry about once you get over the idea of heating up your gun a bit. The Mesa stock fits nicely but I am again convinced my factory trigger group is a little out of spec and wide at the rear. I had to push a bit on the stock to get it to seat properly with the trigger group installed. Once on it was no problem. As I said before I have long arms and the stock fit nicely. It feels a lot more like my AR's than a long shotgun stock. The Holosun 507 v2 fit the Scalarworks Sync perfectly but the provided screws are too long. Thankfully Holosun provides shorter screws for just this event. I used the Holosun provided screws to mount the 507 and it went on nicely without having the screws stick out the bottom as they did with the Scalarworks ones. I torqued to their spec with my Wheeler wrench. 15 inch pounds for the dot and 7 for the base. 7 seems very light but I assume thats due to the aluminum receiver. So far I am happy with the setup. My initial intent to use the Mesa Tac QD button sling plate was quickly changed to the standard loops in the stock. I have tried several options with shotguns and so far it seems either a single point or 2 point running the rear loop on the opposing side of the stock works best. I can do either or with my setup so once i actually use the gun in a training environment I will settle on a setup.

WTT Benelli M1 Super 90 14" Barrel for M1 Super 90 18"
Sigfla replied to Arch Stanton's topic in Benelli
You would prob be better off selling the SBS and buying what you want. -
I was thinking the angle on the Magpul SGA wasn’t too far off from the receiver extension as is. I guess that’s why they only make them for pumps I suppose. I am curious how the Beretta adapter allows it to work.
-
I know there is an adapter plate that allows the Magpul Mossberg stock to be used on the Beretta 1301. It looks amazing setup that way BTW. I am ordering a dedicated shotgun load out rig rather than multi purpose my AR setup. I am curious bc I have to shoot lefty if there were any options for a non pistol grip other than the factory Benelli stock? I love the pistol grip but in terms of reloads it isn't as simple as flipping a straight stock over. I am not sure I would ever go that straight stock route on my M4 but if Magpul had an option I would seriously consider it. I wonder how the M4 would look with Magpul furniture. I currently own a Mossberg 590 SBS PD trade in with an very old beat up speedfeed on it and a 870 Tactical with an ATI setup that I am very close to swapping both out for a Magpul set just for the more convenient reload not having to deal with the pistol grip. Anyway I was just thinking about how things are going to work with my gear while I am stuck at home. I will hopefully be able to take a tactical shotgun class in the next 2-3 months if all this virus stuff slows down. If there is one thing I have learned from taking multiple training classes for competition as well as defense its that you can plan ahead all you want but until you use your gear in real life you will never know how it works. This site has been a great help in giving me things to think about with my setup. While I intend to use ESSTAC 7 round cards I came to realize I also need the ability to quickly access single rounds from my carrier. I finally decided on my setup today and ordered up what I need for a dedicated shotgun chest rig. I should be able to comfortably carry around 54 rounds with 26 being readily available without having to rely on the ESS cards which will ride in M4 pouches. I went budget friendly this time around b/c I jus don't shoot shotguns enough but I hope to change that now that I have the M4 and some of my training buddies are bringing in shotgun oriented instructors.

You inspired me. I took my Olight off and put my Inforce on. My 300c isn’t getting here for a while so till then this setup works
-
That’s not bad looking
-
I have an Inforce but didn't really want to use it. I went ahead and found a black 300c in stock. My dealer pricing is only 20 bucks difference so I just bought it retail. I am pretty sure I have an extra switch laying around. If not I will just pony up for another. I love Surefire but they are just overpriced given some of the other quality options in the market now.
