  1. I've got the Sulan Arms SDS tac-12, and I've wasted tons of time and money trying to get it up to snuff (although, that has effectively forced me to learn a lot about the ARGO system and Gunsmithing, and that aspect has been greatly enjoyed). Most recently, the tip of the cartridge drop lever broke at the range! Previously, I had swapped out the sds extractor with a benelli oem, and it seemed to solve all of my stove pipe/ cycling problems. So, I took it back to the range to speed fire 50 rounds because I wanted to make sure i could depend on this shotgun for home defense. After 6 shots, I noticed the bolt didn't catch on the last shell... so, I reloaded, and then shells wouldn't feed automatically... the trigger just dry fired, and I had to manually press the cartridge release lever and then charge it to feed another round... I was stumped... I was super bummed. I brought it home, disassembled everything and discovered the issue... then I went to freedom fighter and bought a newcreplacement cartridge drop lever... While I had I had everything disassembled on the table, I reassessed the dependability. I've improved the cycling with better O-rings in the pistons (sds oem O-rings had disintegrated/ I purchased proper benelli O-rings), bought new wolf spring magazine spring, new recoil buffer spring, new extractor and extra detailed lube and cleaning... Well, after assessing the remaining sds oem parts on my table, I think it'll finally be ok... all the other parts (barrel, Bolt, remaining trigger parts, etc) all seem solid... so, it should finally be dependable. But, for now, my "go to" for home protection (which, hopefully will never be needed) is now my Ruger Mini-14 5.56 with expanding varmint rounds. Last year, when I went to buy a shotgun, I didn't even want a semiautomatic- I wanted a basic pump, but the salesperson swore up and down that this clone was the bees knees... oh well, like I said, I've learned a lot, and may have quite possibly pushed this gun to a higher level of dependability... time will tell... more range sessions, more ammo...
  2. Hi there... the gun performs flawlessly now that I installed the oem benelli extractor... all this time/ all the things I adjusted/ money spent/ youtube videos watched/ ammo wasted trying to diagnose.... and, all I had to do was change out the extractor! Crazy. At first, I thought the magazine tube wasn't feeding correctly, so I changed that out; then I noticed deterioration with my O-rings on the pistons/ changed those out; disassembled the stock and installed a new recoil spring... cleaned it / lubed it countless times trying to figure out wtf the problem was... and after every "repair/mod" I'd take it to the range only to have the same issue... the shells would not fully exit the receiver.. I thought it was a gas / spring problem and never even considered the extractor (as it was a new gun)... but now, it shoots great! I was about to give up and sell it, but somehow I came across the extractor change out post.... what a life saver! Now, It's a very impressive shot gun. Maybe not as "pretty" as M4s, but I'm not entering it in a beauty contest... its for ugly people that enter my home... ?
  3. What is a "soft bolt"? Since I've changed the extractor, the gun cycles great now. There's an oem bolt link I could buy and swap it out on my clone... would that add any additional benefit?
  4. I've been having extraction problems using certain ammunition with my SDS TAC-12 clone... I just changed out the factory extractor and spring with a Benelli oem extractor and spring... there are subtle differences between the two, but I hope this solves my problem.
  5. Wow... amazing... how do sales here typically work?? Send the complete payment upfront and then your at the seller's integrity to ship it?? Because... PayPal and Cashapp don't have buyer protection...
  6. I make it a point to keep my thumb bent at a solid 90 degrees from start to finish when pushing the shells in... made a huge difference.
  7. Thanks, but I'm hoping to find a metal one... however, if you want $10 plus $5 shipping, I'll cashapp/ PayPal $15 just so I can get something to compare it too... PM me details if interested
  8. I've replaced the recoil spring and added a stronger magazine tube to help with feeding/ jam issues. One other problem is the magazine cap retaining shoulder pin comes out every time I clean/ disassemble the gun. Real M4's have a shoulder pin inserted from behind with a true shoulder to keep it in. When I took apart the pistons, the O-rings were disintegrated.... not even 100 rounds. I bought replacements online. The gun just seems cheap. It functions, but may jam every 10-15 rounds, then I'll need to clear it... not good for a self defense shotgun... I need more reliability.
  9. Hello, If you have any old parts that you don't need, may I buy them? I have a Benelli m4 clone, and I want to check compatibility for some of the parts before I purchase them online. I'm primarily interested in the pistons, gas plug and trigger housing/ trigger parts. I'll pay for shipping and whatever cost you think is fair. The parts don't need to be functional- I just want to see how they fit and if they're 100% compatible. I stripped down a benelli at the gun shop, and the pistons/ plugs seem slightly bigger. In retrospect, I wish I had just saved up for a Benelli. The salesperson for my M4 clone said it was basically identical. Well, he was wrong. After stripping the M4, there are several differences I noticed in quality and fit n finish. My clone shoots ok, some days better than others... but I need something more reliable for a self defense shotgun. I've spent countless hours cleaning, upgrading and adjusting this clone to get it to fire consistently without jamming... very frustrating. I'm considering replacing a few more parts since I'm already so deep in to it... If interested, please PM me or email to [email protected] Thanks
  10. I received the newer, longer, more holes version of the tactical breacher... looking forward to trying it out at the range, hoping for different results
  11. I put 50 slugs through my shotgun today without the breacher choke- no problems whatsoever.. . However, I made sure I had it properly shouldered, and I lubed it good prior... I think it's the choke I had on (..MPN 85006) its the cheaper one that emphasizes "breacher"... I'm keeping it off, and will put the newer model on that I bought online and will try that one out... ( MPN: 84130)... this one is twice as much and emphasizes "tactical"... maybe there's a difference... we'll see
  12. Nope... no mods to the trigger pack.. I'll report back next week after a no choke session
  13. That was the first time I used my breacher choke and also the first time with that ammo. I've read that the increased back pressure from a suppressor can cause carbon and has to get blasted into the action and also causes lag/ smoke to build up... wondering if the choke could have a similar affect ?? Maybe it's the ammo?? I'll know later this week...
  14. Also- with the breacher choke on, the gun produced a ton of black smoke. When I shot 6 or so shots in a row, my lane at the range was just covered in black smoke... this excessive black smoke never occurred before, and only occurred with the breacher choke on... so, there's something going on with backpressure or lag time or something different due to the choke....
  15. Yes... there's a good chance I wasn't shouldering the shotgun securely enough... I installed my new holosun 508t and I was more focused on groups and zeroing it in... I'm going back next week, and I'm going to shoot again while making sure the shotgun is 100% secured against my shoulder...
  16. So... sounds like the brake should help, right?? Here's what was happening: I'd shoot a few rounds, and then an empty shell would get stuck and not fully eject.... so, I'd flick it out with my fingers, pull the charging handle and keep shooting, then 4 or 5 rounds later, same thing would happen again...
  17. Thanks for the replies... maybe my gun doesn't like the Federal truball hunting slug...
  18. I installed a Carlsons breacher choke on my shotgun, and when I took it to the range today, it seemed to have adversely affected the cycling of a few of the rounds. It wouldn't completely eject some of the rounds, and they were also a couple of small jams. But- There are two variables at play: one was this new choke, and I also used a new type of ammunition I've never used before. It was federal premium hunting ammunition/ rifled slug with 1600 FPS (so, that shouldn't have been the cause...) Do you think the breacher choke caused the cycling issues?
  19. I'm new to posting on forums... for years, I've googled something and then read the corresponding link from my search query... only, this time, I actually signed up to participate on a forum and leave a comment, only to be subsequently notified by another member that the original poster "no longer cares".... Is that how this works?? If a post is older than a certain arbitrary time frame, am I not welcome to add my comments? (Eventhough the topic is still relevant) Am I supposed to create a new post? What's the standard internet thing to do? Please let a new member know...
  20. I think any residue left behind from using oil/ solvents inside of the piston sleeves can cause the o-rings on the pistons to prematurely erode
  21. I purchased the Sulan Arms SDS tac-12 and it shoots great. However, the fit and finish seems a bit inferior. For example, the mag cap retaining pin and spring came out today while disassembling. When I went to reinstall it, I noticed the hole only has one open end, where on the benelli, the hole goes all the way through so you can insert the pin from the back- but with mine, you just shove it in from the front... I'm not sure how that's supposed to hold (well, it didn't). also, when I replaced the recoil spring, I noticed the butt stock inner assembly parts seemed cheaper and inferior than benelli pics online. And,, my o-rings were crap- one disintegrated, and the other broke (noticed as I was cleaning the piston system). So, I purchased Benelli OEM O-RIngs from Brownells. I think the only true quality parts on the gun are the Barrel and bolt. The barrel is supposedly the same as the Benelli Barrel. however, as mentioned, the gun shoots remarkably well. At first, it wasn't cycling lighter loads, and that's why I changed out the recoil spring. But, during my troubleshooting research, I also learned how important it is to keep a solid shoulder behind the gun to stuff the recoil ... so, after i upgraded the recoil spring, I also was more conscientious of my grip/ form- so, im not sure which made the improvement, but my gun runs flawlessly now. I am nervous wondering what is going to be the next cheap part to give me problems... for example, when I shoot my Ruger Mini-14, I have 100% confidence in its ability and ruggedness. I just don't have the same confidence with my tac-12 clone
