MickGIS
I just picked up my new M4; I cleaned, lubed and put it together. I sure like the look and feel but I have yet to fire it. The barrel assembly fits flush to the receiver; the forearms fit snuggly without any gaps and the magazine cap screws down tight. I can cycle the action and feed and eject the dummy 12 gauge shells without a problem. However there is a ¾” or so gap in the camo pattern on the magazine tube. Has anyone seen this before? Should I contact Benelli support about this or am I being too picky?
Guest cleefurd
Some of the 11717's have zero paint/camo of any sort on the functional part of the tube, while the dummy extension is always painted. Still others have the full camo on both the dummy extender and the 5 rd portion too. My guess (without seeing it) is you are referring to the portion HIDDEN by either the cap on the extender, or the portion of the functional tube hidden beneath the extender's sheath beyond the extender's own internal threads. I have seen both of those scenarios which are hidden when assembled so they are then "internal" surfaces that really don't need paint. Seems like they vary how they are shipped from the factory, while the pattern never changes, the level of firearm coverage definitely does as you noted. If it really makes a difference you could always contact Benelli's CS, though it is difficult at best to predict whether or not they will consider offering a remedy, since it does not sound like a defect, but rather a production "variation" referenced in the famous "Actual product may differ...." clauses we have all become accustomed to. MickGIS
Hi cleefurd, The unpainted portion extends below the sheath. A minor thing indeed and rendered irrelevant because I have purchased a full length mag tube from SOCOMguy (which works great, no malfunctions) and have found a guy who will DuraCoat it with the Benelli Desert Camo. Guest cleefurd
OK that is a first. Guess no harm, as it is basically a drawer part for life since the upgrade. The tube you bought won't be something you are likely to remove anyway, and it would suprise me if it did malfunction, since any FL is inherently more dependable than the +2 extenders (less parts, no internal transitions). Post pics when you get it all repainted, sounds cool.
sneakerfreak602
I am now able to post photos so here is what it looks like: I have also seen this on a camo M4 in my local gun store. You figure for 1500-1800 or so they would not do that. Either way you wil love your M4. She is my Favorite shotgun ever.
