(TANK) Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) What do you guys use to clean/preserve the black syn. stocks. I heard somewhere that gun oil was bad on the parts and would turn the stock and foreend chalky. I clean w/ breakfree clp or weapon shield and protect the metal with corrosion x.Not sure what to rub on the plastic. Edited September 19, 2009 by (TANK) Quote
tucker301 Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Hoppes Elite Field Cleaner makes mine look new again. I use it on the metals and the synthetics. IF there's any mud or dirt I wash that off with mild soap and water, then use the Hoppes. Soak it down, then buff it off. Quote
(TANK) Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 Do you think the breakfree or corroison x will hurt the plastic?I'll try some Hoppes. Quote
tucker301 Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 I have used Brakfree with results similar to those of Hoppes. I think they're very similar products. I wouldn't use Corrosion X on them. It feels slimy to me. Quote
(TANK) Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 Tuck have you heard or seen the white chalk film I heard of on the black stocks. If so what causes it so we all can stay away from it. Quote
