Veduci
What portable shooting rests do you experienced shooters recommend? Thanks!
stid2677
I bought my wife a setup made by Stoney Point. Works great and is not too heavy, she has taken several big game animals with it including bears. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0024205226425a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCHFEAT_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Products&QueryText=shooting+sticks&sort=all&Go.y=0&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23&Go.x=0 Steve

daddyman
How did you attach that Harris?
GBMotorsports
How did you attach that Harris? They attach to the sling swivel stud. Super easy, takes about 30 seconds to take on or off and its solid as a rock. OOPS, Forgot the R1 sling stud isnt in the normal position. Theres an adapter you can get from Harris that will allow you to mount it to any gun. http://www.harrisb****s.com/ Edited March 16, 2010 by GBMotorsports Im a tard. stid2677
The R-1 has an unique nut that holds the foregrip on. I have never seen a Harris mountable rest that would mount to it. This forum blocks certain key words to cut down on spam, that is why you can't get anything to show up that sounds like pod. Steve
GBMotorsports
I figured it had to be something like that. lol. You can get a barrel mount for the harris b****s. I would think that should work even for the R1. Im not going to bother with the link sorry
stid2677
I was looking at their site and did see the barrel adapter. Too much added metal for me, plus it looks like it could cause rust between it and the barrel. Just cut and paste and replace the stars with i then pod. http://www.harrisb****s.com/HB4.html Steve
GBMotorsports
Im sure it COULD cause rust, if you let it. oh well, Im happy with mine. It works great for hunting W. Oregon as I dont have anything to keep track of other than whats on my gun. I dont like having to keep track of a monopod or a separate tr****. stid2677
The other issue I can see with clamping the mount to the barrel on a R-1 is that it would have to be removed to disassemble and clean the rifle, because of the way the foregrip slides off. When I hunt by the sea, I have to disassemble and clean my R-1 at least every other day or so. To each their own, more than one way to boil an egg. daddyman
So I am flirting with the idea of drilling a hole through the bottom of the forearm and purchasing a generic sling mount. Fasten it to the forearm and then getting a regular sling mount 'pod. But then I probably need experience in the field with this thing and not rush making a tacticool weapon for hunting...
