saym14
what type of choke comes with the M4 ? also I looked down the barrel (unloaded and locke open ) with a light in the chamber and it looks like there is a distinct ridge where the barrel is smaller diameter than the choke. I dont recall sigin this in my O/U hunting guns?
His Divine Shadow
I thought it was a cylinder in those guns that had a regular non-swappable choke, while the guns that come with screw in chokes ship with a Mod. choke. Not sure though, but all the guns I've seen for sale with permanent chokes have been cylinders.
saym14
this one is screw in. has three nothces I think that means modiifed. can some M4 owners peak down your barrel and see if you see this lip ? is this normal. pretty sure the choke is in all the way. Guest cleefurd
.....can some M4 owners peak down your barrel and see if you see this lip ? is this normal. pretty sure the choke is in all the way. It is normal and preferable to the opposite. The manufacturer of all (for the past 16 years and running) Benelli S90 choke tubes is located in the U.S. incidentally. If you could see that lip from the breech end there would be a problem. With the choke in hand you can see a champher nearest the breech which accounts for most of the diameter increase over the bore. I have around 60 OEM choke tubes on hand in Cyl., IC, Mod and Full that all show an over-sized entry with respect to nominal bore diameter. A high end competition choke will sometimes be less perceptible I suppose, but is more of an asthetic refinement than anything, since some transition is necessary that will allow an uneventful passage of the payload w/o speed-bumps. saym14
thanks- I can see how the lip turned the other way would be a problem. when it cuaght my eye that was my first thought.
