txhk
I just purchased an early HK import M1 and was surprised to see the 18.5" barrel was not threaded for a choke. Educate me on which barrels come threaded and which do not. I want to use the shotgun in 3 gun competition and would like the versatility of adding a choke. What are my best options, thread the barrel or pick up a second barrel??
SgtCathy
I realize this isn't going to help you much, but when I purchased my M1 S90 in Police Configuration back in 1986, I also bought at the same time a 28 inch ventilated rib barrel with 3 chokes, 2 shot limited rod and standard butt stock. Perhaps if you poked around on the Internet their might be more of those hunting barrels floating around out there. Best of luck.
Bello
http://www.choketube.com or google carlsons choke tubes they will thread your barrel and give you 3 chokes of your choice.
99gst_racer
My '86 model M1 does not have the threaded barrel, but my father's '94 model M1 does. So, they sarted doing it somewhere in that year range. I'd be willing to bet that it's cheaper to have your barrel threaded, as apposed to buying another barrel. What's the longest distance shotgun shot you'll face in a 3-gun match? (just curious)
