Loupis Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 So i really cant decide if i want a titanium or steel mag tube. i must admit the steel on from FFT for 150$ is looking really good compared to carrier comp 5 week waiting period. Would the weight really be a big difference? Quote
Unobtanium Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Both are great products. The carriercomp tube fully loaded is only slightly heavier than the unloaded steel tube. It is also corrosion proof, nearly. To me, it was worth it. Quote
frigatecon Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I thought the fft tubes were titanium as well.... I could be wrong but i thought the only steel tubes out there were OEM or socomguys now unavailable tubes (dmw's are steel too?) i agree though, CC tube is awesome! Edit: just looked, fft has steel tubes as well. Quote
SOCOMguy Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I'm still lurking about the site... thought that I'd provide some info on the weight question. When I was doing the steel tubes I had to answer that question... here is what I came up with. Steel tube 8.5 oz, loaded with 7 rounds 21.0 oz. Ti tube 4.9 oz, loaded with 7 rds 17.4 oz. So with the full load you have 17% less to lug around with the Ti. Oh, and fyi , the factory 5 rd, two piece mag weighs 9.5 oz. Yes it's true , no more SOCOMguy tubes... except that I still have two of these New Jersey special 6 round mags available, for any of you guys that happen to find yourselves in the People's Republic of NJ.
