Which picatinney rail for a M3?

Bought a M3 and want to put a rail on top if front of rear sight like the M4 has. Compared the M3 to a M4 and the M4 rail would be too long on my M3.

Probably... and I say probably, a M2 rail from Mesa Tactical would fit.
