MikeFresno Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 New to the forum and shotguns as well. I have a question that might be silly. As for my handguns my Glocks will eat whatever is fed to them, as for my kimbers they are a little more picky. So I just picked up a new Nova that I plan to use for Turkey and dove hunting it has a 26" barrel. My question is do I need to break it in with the good stuff at all or am I good to go. I know I have to pattern for hunting but I'm really itching to go to the range and shoot some targets loads for fun at some clay pigeons. Thanks in advance for your answers Quote
truckcop Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 A pump isn't like some semi-autos that need to be "broken in" with higher powered stuff before it will shoot some of the lower powered stuff. A pump should be good to go right out of the box with anything you decide to feed it. They'll usually smooth-out after repeated use but that's about it. Quote

BLACK Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 A pump isn't like some semi-autos What he said. But also be mindful that some junk shells, such as Walmart-Winchster, don't like to eject from anything. Quote
Halwg Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I ran into that with the cheapo Winchesters with a SBE when shooting clays. I'd never buy them again. Quote

bftx Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 What do you suggest for just shooting clays? The 100 round pack of Federal 12 GA shells from WalMart are great, and don't jam anything like the cheap Winchester shells. They are 23 bucks for 100. Quote
