Butch-M Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 Has anyone tried firing shot out of their rifled slug barrel? I'm wondering if the plastic shot cup would behave similar to the sabot cup ... or cause major fouling of the rifling. Quote
FN_FAL Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 I've never fired shot out of a rifled barrel. However I'd recommend against it. Your bound to screw up the barrel. Quote
The_Gun_Guy Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 With the first shotguns made they were simply peices of lead in muzzle loader instead of a load. It was tried in rifled muskets and it didn't work out for, the patterns or the barrels. Quote
Butch-M Posted May 23, 2005 Author Posted May 23, 2005 I figured the plastic is probably a different formula; likely softer than a sabot. Possibly melting and/or peeling through the rifling. Just wondering. Quote
mudhen Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 I would vote for fouling. How much, I don't know, but it would not be fun to clean out. I don't think the sabot theory is the same as the shot cup theory...... mudhen - CA Quote
