Inquisitivequal12
I recently picked up a new SBE3 Turkey Performance Shop through Gun Broker and noticed some chamber scoring while doing an initial cleaning. I know these guns are fired at the factory to pattern in but curious to see whether folks think this is typical for a SBE3 as this is my first. Thanks in advance. Steve Rose
At one time Benelli sent their Performance Shop guns to various stateside gunsmiths for the “enchantments” (and as far as I know they still do). The hunting guns go to a well known shop that advertises a lengthened forcing cone as part of the package. Your chamber looks like the FC reamer may have slightly touched the edge of the chamber while in use. The good new is that little scoring mark will have zero effect on the shotgun's operation. Inquisitivequal12
Thanks for the feedback. My main concern is that the “scoring” is deep enough on the edge/lip of the chamber that you can feel it with a fingernail, which seems like something that should have been caught during QC. What are the odds Benelli would replace the barrel in connection with this?
remarkable
Benelli has a 10 year warranty on this model of shotgun. I would suggest if you want to pursue this, call in a RMA, but do not send in the gun until after your season is over. This could be a extended wait time, it would be a challenge for Benelli to get another barrel for the gun.
Inquisitivequal12
Thank you. I have submitted a repair request but have not received any response or confirmation that the request was even submitted. Does anyone have any experience with this process that can comment on typical response times from Benelli? Your advice to send post-season is well taken, I understand it is likely a long process once initiated. Hoping I can just send the barrel when/if the time comes… Edited January 30 by Inquisitivequal12 Typo
remarkable
For best response you will want to talk to Benelli Customer Service and request a RMA. You will want to have your serial number. This should be done by telephone. "Thanks for the feedback. Rob Roberts would have shipped it back to Benelli USA for distribution, well beyond the QC process.
