Are the Carbon Vent Ribs Really That Bad?

I’m looking at a SBE3 BEST and they have the carbon vent rib. I’ve read some stuff on various websites about people having issues with them breaking or falling off. How common is this? I can’t believe that Benelli is putting these on all of their most expensive guns if they are that much of an issue. I really like the BEST guns because I hunt in saltwater some and that seems like the best protection. I can go with a camo gun though if these carbon ribs are that bad.

The BEST finish SBE 3's all have carbon ribs, the BEST finish will not adhere to ribs that are standards on other SBE 3 models.  The Carbon ribs will not breask off or fall off.  This would be caused by abuse.  I would say Carbon Ribs may not be wise for a hunter who is going to bang his SBE 3 around in a aluminum boat.   The ribs is replaceable if ever needed.  Some of the ribs will have a little play in them, this is because of how it is mounted to the barrel and is secured by a set screw.  There are many SBE 3 models with or without carbon fiber ribs.  Choose a model that fits your needs.
