  1. I haven't installed one nor had sufficient intellectual curiosity just to knock it out for the heck of it BUT if I did this would be my plan. Call factory for replacement support collar; then whack away. But I believe you would have to have the proper support collar for the plunger which I envision as a small externally splined cylinder that allows the spring powered plunger head to traverse thru it. I believe the plunger spring assembly is removed by inserting a 1.5 mm punch thru the access port on the back side of the assembly which would fit thru the spring to greet the back side of the plunger. Installation would be the reverse, probably use a roll pin starter punch ? or a proper sized pin punch to compress the head of the plunger while tapping in what appears to be a support collar that is press fit into the cylindrical recess.

  2. You need to determine if the stock's adjustment button allowed the stock to twist on you when firing. I'd want to inspect the stock to see if any of the pins that lock the stock in place are damaged. This damage could also be on the button itself. If the receiver extension is moving around under recoil, it's dangerous and should be addressed. It's just a matter of time before it twists during recoil and you get socked in the eye by the rear sight assembly. I'd highly recommend fixing it yourself, having Benelli address it or sending it to me. I would not let a general gunsmith try to fix it. I'd remove the stock and pistol grip and get a good look at the jam nut that retains the receiver extension to the receiver. See if there are any signs of movement. If you're handy and not afraid of a MAPP torch and buying a few specialty tools that you likely don't have, I could walk you thru the repairs. I can give you my cell number to text or call if you want to go that route.

  3. Little update. Nothing major, ended up having to go with the adjustable stock to get that perfect alignment on the red dot. Added a mesa 6 shell carrier on the stock and a little karve handstop. Have a sling on the way. At this point anything more I do will probably be internal upgrading now. I also ordered a case of federal le12700 buckshot hoping they have enough power to cycle properly. Hoping to get to the range very soon just waiting on a few things for my ar-15.

  4. Looks good! With that muzzle device, I’d probably add that Briley one round extension cap.

  5. Here is my most recent update. I absolutely love how this turned out. Few more things I still want to do. Larger bolt release button, forend grip panels, maybe a handstop, sling. Any recommendation on anything else to do? Should I worry about some kind of backup iron sight system? Let me know your thoughts.

  6. I got my M4 H2O 2 weeks ago by sheer dumb luck at a nearby Cabelas ( 15 miles away ). My Cabelas doesn't even list the M4 as something they carry. I saw a regular M4 in stock on my area BassPro website a few months ago, but hesitated and it was gone. Their order online/pickup in store option was not available at that point either. I considered their waitlist option but decided not to bother. I got the list of my local dealers ( north of Atlanta ) off the Benelli USA website, contacted each and every one of them, and came up empty. I sadly drove to Cabelas 2 weeks ago for my plan B: Immediately get a .45 ACP pistol for home defense ( weak substitute for an M4 ), a 9mm pistol for an eventual concealed carry/backup, and an M4 in the future if/when available. As luck would have it, Cabelas was out of the pistols I was interested in, not even counter models to pick up and evaluate. I was disappointed that I had wasted a trip, and when I mentioned my plan B to the guy at the counter he said "I have the H2O version of the M4 right over here, want to take a look at it ?" Stunned, all I could say was "Um, yeah!" Needless to say, I bought it right then and there.
