This sounds like it may have a lock screw installed beneath the polymer cheek riser. This is common for M1014’s sold in California. Perhaps you got someone’s take off. Sometimes you can see the head of the screw from under the comb. You’ll need to remove the comb via the three Allen heads on top of the comb to access the area. They then drill and tap a hole into the stock that prevents the button from being pressed. Once this is sorted out and the stock is functioning, we can then offer the stock up to your receiver extension and you’ll see the orientation necessary to lock the extension into. You’ll find one groove is the install groove. The other three are the three lock positions. Read thru my disassembly/reassembly guide for installing the receiver extension. It has a lot of tips and best practices to get the stock orientated correctly.

Never point a gun at someone that you aren’t ready to kill. No non lethal rounds, if they pose a threat to your life you should be prepared to put them down for good. in Canada, if someone used a non lethal round on an intruder the judge would ask them, “why did you point your gun at someone, and fire a shot at them, if they weren’t enough of a threat to your life?” This is our law system up here, it is very against the law to point a gun at someone up here even for an intruder, they absolutely need to lose a threat to your life. in summary, if you are willing to point a gun at someone, you should be prepared to take their life.

Non lethal won’t cycle you’ll have todo it yourself if you use it. I highly suggest no warning shots or second chances. No racking to scare people since someone who may know what they are doing now knows your location. Assume the worst scenario else you’re not actually prepared for anything. If you put a shotgun in their face and they don’t have the second thoughts your hoping the non lethal would be a waste of time. slugs will likely shoot your neighbors. A heavy birdshot or some buckshot is the best option in my opinion. Most or all places it’s illegal to shoot people running away who aren’t a threat. You’re looking at close range encounter. others likely have input on flight control, I haven’t shot it but I have heard mixed reviews due to choke if I remember correctly.

I only use red Loctite when reassembling the receiver extension. Heat removes it just the same, but easier than the factory threadlocker. You really don’t want this assembly coming loose during recoil. If it comes loose, the entire stock could rotate on you counter clockwise and may make you kiss the rear sight assembly. So I’d definitely use as much Loctite as will fit. I butter the threads entirely and even use it to glue the base or the jam nut to the receiver. After you’re set, wipe up the mess and it’ll look good as new.

Chances are you're going to need to get a MAPP gas torch in order to get it to come free. I've encountered a few extensions that a heatgun wouldn't touch.
