    But seriously, who are you, or any of us, to give anyone advice on growing up :confused: This is a website for the exchange of thoughts on guns.....

     

    I hope to god the kid listens to someone he knows and trusts and pays little attention to some Internet Wizard that could very well be a Chester sitting in San Quentin sipping Pruno while debating on who his next 'girlfriend' is going to be.

     

    Going to a website for advice on a gun is one thing. Going to a website for advice on life is assinine.

    Congrats on the fine gobbler ...

    Would be very interested to hear more about "that striker" you're using ...

     

    Well, I do like the striker that came with the call, and I use it quite a bit for close in work.

     

    But, I am hooked on the stock Primos Cuttin' Stick for all of my slate calls, especially in open country. The hollowed out handle just makes a oddly effective rather 'dry' high pitched sounds that the birds seem to really respond to.

     

    I have 5-6 of those strikers.

     

    Also, they seem to dry out faster and are easy to touch up and keep nice and squeaky.

    I love the shotgun, but the documentation was a little sketchy on using the shims in the original stock and the documentation of the replacement stock is non-existent!

     

    Yes, there are slots. I figured it was for the sling and am glad you confirmed!

    Using the shims with the original stock is clearly outlined in the user's manual - always has been - it's one of Benelli's best features.

     

    I recall you can't use the original shims with the SG stock. I didn't like that as my SBE II shot about 18" low with the SG. I guess I could have cut the SG stock up and tried to adjust it, but I ended up selling it on E-Bay (when they still allowed the sale of gun parts) for more than I paid for it!

    Thank you for your note. I actually noticed that the black rubber piece fits in the stock in the area you suggested this morning—but when it is in place, I cannot reassemble the gun. There isn't really a space to fill between the trigger guard and the stock (unless I have it in backwards or something). Basically, without this piece the stock seems to be flush against the guard. I am wondering if it is a necessary filler for some shotguns (M2, SBE, etc) but not the SuperNova.

    I recall that rubber filler part was used for the SBE II.

     

    Also, does your flat plate have slots on each end? If so, it's for attaching a sling.

    Thats all I was trying to say, there is a definate advantage to the 3 1/3".

     

    And I like the look of the Vinci, but why no 3 1/2" ?

     

    According to an area rep, this is merely the first release of many Vinci configurations. He said a 3.5" version would likely follow - no time line though :)

     

    I think this might be a great all around fun gun :D

    All that extra 1/2" does is get you more cripples because people think they can shoot at em a lot higher.

     

    Only stupid people think that extra pellets automatically equals extra range.

     

    Smart people know that more pellets can mean a better pattern than can mean cleaner kills.

     

    Smart people also know that more space in the shell allows for more larger pellets which means a better pattern of larger pellets which can have more kinetic energy downrange which can mean cleaner kills.

     

    I know that I get 52 more H-13 pellets in my 3.5" H-13 #6 shells. 52 more pellets :)

     

    But you knew all this I'm sure :D

    ya i do them alot on the grill ...love them wrapped in bacon w/ some jap. peppers. i also fry them alot sliced thin and pounded flat kinda like chicken fried steaks w/ wht gravy! keep them coming guys it would be nice to do something different that my people will eat. i mean my brother and dad will pick up a deer of the road and eat it but wont eat a duck to save there lives!!

     

    Yep, highway backstrap is one of my favorites too :D

     

    I really only have time to eat duck one way, breasted out, grilled for maybe 1-2 minutes on each side, and eaten while still quacking.

     

    I'll dip in any decent BBQ sauce, or my favorite - a Texas dipping sauce in the squirt bottle.

     

    I can eat lots of ducks this way, which is a good thing!

    It's modular, so all you have to do is turn it over - Voila! - Left-handed. ;)

     

    I'm not interested in a LH model until they make it in 3.5".

     

    My dealer didn't know anything about LH models, but the rep told him that the 3" version is just the first of many Vinci variations that will be available in the future. The rep said he was pretty sure a 3.5" version was not far off. They may wait for some sales data.

     

    The new Browning Silver and maybe the Winchester SX3 were offered in 3" only at the start - the 3.5" guns were close behind though....

    Then the gun was clearly not made for you :) Do they make 'pretty' Mossturds?

     

    They will sell as many as they can make, so don't worry too much about their feelings.

     

    My dealer had one in-hand yesterday and it got rave reviews from staff and customers.

     

    It's a tool - it has a job to do - by the looks of it, it is a very good tool for a very fun job - it will sell - sell a lot.....

    You just have to know more about the history of these acquisitions :)

     

    Beretta Holdings acquired Stoeger for one reason, to control them after certain patents expired. There was an article in an NRA magazine a few years ago where BH's attorneys admitted that it was far cheaper to just buy Stoeger than to fight them in court over patent issues.

     

    Don't know much about Franky though, I think Beretta has been involved with them way before the official acquisition.
