  1. Oddly enough, the market price on NIB SBE I's has actully held up pretty well, maybe even gone up a bit lately.

I guess some folks like the older style?

Best I can find is $999 for the black SBE (http://www.gunsamerica.com), so $1059 for the camo SBE is not too bad.

I think the trick would be to find a deal on the SBE II as it seems like deals are to be had there.

  2. Best prefit I think is the Sims Limbsaver #10401.

I'm sure some grind to fits are great too, but it cost $$$ to have the pad fit.

I'm sure some can grind-to-fit at home, but my attempts turn out crappy....

  3. I doubt there are many used I-12's yet, most Franchi dealers are still waiting for their 1st shipments of this brand new gun.

Just FYI - I have heard several reports of defective I-12's right out of the box - one guy's broke while the employee at Bass Pro was assembling it and he exchanged it right there.

Check those guns before leaving the store!

  4. Yeah, they wanted $150 to put a Hi-Viz on my SBE, I went with the Limbsaver as it was prefit.

I like the Gel Pad system - works fine for me.

Slip-ons are silly IMHO, they trap water and gunk.

Can't see spending at least $150 to retrofit my SBE II with a platform, grind a pad, grind the right handed angle, coat with a slippery coating, etc, prolly cost $300 total.

No frickin' way when I've got a perfectly good system in place right now.

  5. From the looks of the catalog, the II wood should be readily apparent.

A II should look exactly like the photo.

I have no facts, but I'm guessing your internet dealer switched the stocks. It was prolly real nice wood :(

Is the mag cap the newer Euro version?

  6. Now that I've 'unbunched my manties', I have a couple of thoughts;

I work for an Italian MF. We too find that 9/10 alleged defects are user error. However, that statistic cannot be used to negate the 1/10 (closer to 1/100 for us) customer who has a real problem.

Also, if Benelli USA was going to work with Brice regardless of the poll/rant, may I ask when would that have happened? He sent the barrel back twice and it was returned both times with merely a 'within specs' comment.

I liked the Mr. Whipple comment too, pretty easy to like it when you don't have a bad $400 barrel.....

We have a radio show here in Sacto that has a segment 'Bad News Over Happy Music' where they tell horrible news stories while playing happy music.

Their catch phrase is 'it's not bad news unless it happens to you'........

  7. The barrel ain't bent guys, the choke threads were cut off center. It happens on rare occasions.

It has almost no bearing on wingshooting, but spend 25-30 days in the field a year after the finest gamebird that walks, spend $1000's on hunts and leases, and then tell me that it's ok to miss a tom with a gun that is 'within specs'. No frickin' way Benelli!

Rumor has it that Brice has been in touch with a higher level CS/Gunsmith person at B-USA. I hope it gets resolved.

Ski, if you are not with us, you are against us.....You know the facts, yet still question the man.....what is the point of questioning his veracity?.....

  8. Nothing prefit - that would take a special mold and may even be a patent infringement - I'd think it unlikely anyone would ever offer a prefit for the Comfortech/Nova stock.

I'm sure the slip on would fit - but it might not work given that there would be no flat surface for the pad to rest on.

I guess you can install one of the platform pad systems and put any pad you want on, but why?

The factory gel pad works fine for me - I really, really, like it just the way it is.

  9. Hey Benelli Girl & All Other Benelli Folks That Read These Posts,

    What's up with this!

THE BARREL WAS THREADED OFF CENTER!!!! It happens, no one is saying Benelli sucks for a few minor issues like this.

    WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL????

GIVE THIS GUY A NEW BARREL!!!! Or at least a factory lay-around that shoots straight and looks like new.

We loyal Benelli owners can't keep defending you if you don't back up your products.

No big deal if this was the guy's duck gun, but 4" off @ 25 yards can result in a missed or wounded tom turkey.

This type of stuff will bury you with the turkey crowd if you are not careful.

  10. SBE rifled barrels can be bought from Benelli dealers in the $400 range.

They can also be found on E-Bay.

I think Tucker can find you more retail sources.

My SBE loves Winchester Platinum Tips. Win Partition Golds worked well too, but the Plats shot the best.

  11. Rhino makes them and they work well with certain slugs designed for rifled tubes.

If you do your homework, you will see that some companies are offering slugs that favor rifled tubes or at least are taking rifled tubes into consideration when designing their slugs.

The Remington Buckhammer is one of these slugs:

"When it comes to delivering devastating knockdown power and superior accuracy, no other lead slug offers a more lethal combination than the Remington BuckHammer. Specifically designed for rifled barrels and rifled choke tubes, these high-performance slugs are capable of producing 3-inch or better groups at 100-yards with nearly 100% weight retention and controlled expansion to nearly one-inch in diameter."

I have seen the Buckhammer in action in Iowa, it delivers as promised.

I think most major slug makers have offerings that mention rifled tubes.

  12. Since you have to do a grind to fit, I would do the X-Coil.

I only went with the LimbSavr on my SBE because it is prefit, the X-Coil is known to be better as Drundel said.
