    New waders

I also use two pairs of waders. A durable breathable pair for teal and early season and a 5mm neoprene for thos cold days. These for cold days: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/vertical-pod3.jsp?id=0021566&navCount=0&parentId=cat20614&masterpathid=&navAction=push&cmCat=081507wf-home&parentType=index&indexId=cat20614&rid= I recommend a quality pair of wader pants for the 5mm. Then can be very warm and the wader pants pull sweat away from the skin to keep you dry and warm. On the cold days they are amazing when you have to stand in freezing water. Most of the time I hunt out of boat. I wear wool socks for both. These for warmer days: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/vertical-pod3.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/pod-link.jsp_A&_DAV=081507wf-home&rid=&indexId=cat20614&navAction=push&masterpathid=&navCount=1&parentType=index&parentId=cat20614&id=0033344 Sorry about pasting the links. I forgot how to use/link to html on here...
  2. We used 2 3/4 #6 Steel (Federals) on Teal this past weekend with devastating results. One of my all round favorite loads is 3" #3's in steel. We've shot everything from Mallards to geese with them with great results. We also shoot a lot of #2's in 3". Mostly Federals and Winchesters.
  3. What choke do you guys generally use dove hunting? I've had fairly go luck with a modified.
  4. It's Liquid Nails brand. Some kind of Poly Construction Adhesive, safe for foam board. Very good stuff. I don't have any containers left and I can't remember exactly.
  5. Nope, my back yard.... Its been over 100 degrees for the past seven days. Today its only going to get up to 97. Can anyone say cold front??
  6. Well, I got the transom on this weekend. Still not 100% pleased with it. I just can seem to find any boards worth a damn. So when I had it up on horses the transom fits flush all the way around. Then I lay it on the ground and then on one side, the transom it about 1/8" high and does not sit flush on the ground. Kind of hard to describe but I guess I'll just sand it so that everything is even and epoxy the he!! out of it. But other than that looking good. I got my storage area and dog platform built and in place. Now I just need to sand all the edges, get everything even and do all the other needed prep work before I fiberglass. Oh, and I need it to be around 72 degrees. Its only 102 here today so it might be October before I get a chance to lay the fiberglass. I'll post some more pics up soon.
  7. Boy, they're pretty proud of some of their stuff.
  8. What do you guys put on your barrels/receiver to keep them from rusting. Just got my new SBE II and the barrel seems like it might be prone to rusting if not taken care of properly. I'm talking about the blk/synthetic models... Thanks
  9. I got the plans off the internet, before a guy started charging for the plans. I've heard through a couple of sources he actually got the plans from someone else before he chose to sell them and now he's trying to obtain a patent on the design... http://www.diyduckboat.com
  10. HOLY CRAP!!! That stuff is sweet. Twice the price of what I was planning on getting. The idea is great, but price vs. practicality....not so sure. I plan on doing my own camo work. I've got some ideas from a few other designs. I'm borderline OCD and a control freak so that should be interesting.... I may end up losing my hair over it... Yeah, it took two seconds to decide whether to patch it up or replace the board. I'm already worried about it leaking. I'm hoping the epoxy and fiberglass make a very tight seal.
  11. No worries... I'm afraid I don't have any new pics. I have not had much time to work on it lately. Looked a little closer on my transom the other day.. Yeah, its got a three in crack along a knot in the wood. So I have to take that off and cut a new one.. Good Times!!!
  12. I'm selling my Stoeger. I've posted an add in the Stoeger Forum if anyone is interested. Thanks
  13. We are pretty much ready for the epoxy and the fiberglass. Then more epoxy and some paint work and I think we'll call it good.
  14. Since then I've added a mud motor...
  15. If you want to buy you a blind I would recommend the Cabela's Northern Flight Blind. I've been very pleased with mine.
  16. Yeah, I would say its fairly dense. I think they call it closed cell foam. Anyway, its a polystyrene insulation foam. Much better than just styrofoam. This was $24 for a 4X8 sheet 2" thick. So its pretty good stuff.
  17. You should be able to click on the picture and expand it. Yeah, that boat is pretty fancy. I already have another boat that I've put lots of time and money into as well. Its a 16' Grizzly Tracker with all the bells and whistles. This new one should serve me well as long as it does not leak....
  18. A budy and I are making two at the same time. Right now we have the body of the boat made and now we are ready to finish the frame of the cockpit and then the transom. Once that's done we epoxy the entire thing, then fiberglass with epoxy, then another coat of epoxy. Then the finishing touch up work with paint and what not. Hopefully it works...We'll see. It will be an expensive waste of time if it does not...
  19. Well here is the start of what hopefully won't to turn into a wet and wasted $400.
  20. Exciting news. We've had plenty of wet weather her in West Central MO. The HQ for one the local wetland conservation areas was underwater a week ago. Now all we need is for fall to get here and bring a few ducks with her. Mostly likely it will be pretty poor. A lot of farmers either got their crops destroyed or did not get them in all together.
  21. Well, I think I'm going to get me the gun and make a layout boat. I've seen several plans and I'm going to give it a try. This one will be a foam boat covered with several layers of apoxy-resin and fiberglass.
