Ducks (Including mergansers) Daily Bag Limit: 7 of any kind except: Shall not include more than the following: 1 canvasback 2 female mallards 2 redheads 1 pintail 3 scaup (lesser or greater in the aggregate) Geese: 4 of any kind Of course those are last years limits, as this years regs haven't come out yet, but imagine they won't change much if at all, with the exception of the geese, as that number "might" increase. Not sure. I wish I was better at identifying ducks. I know we have a lot of mallards around here, but we have a lot of ducks that are smaller than mallards, and fairly dark in color - not sure what they are. Looking forward to giving waterfowl hunting a try.

Bah. I didn't do too bad. I've seen Widgeon spelled both ways, with and without the "d". Eurasion vs. European, I can live with that mistake, easy enough to correct. And "Common" GE, yeah... I can live with that mistake as well. As for the Scaup vs. Ringbill, yeah, not even close.

So a Europeon Wigeon? Pintail, Green-winged Teal, Cinnamon Teal Canvasback, Golden Eye? Mallard, Ringbill? Northern Shovler? How'd I do? Awesome mounts, by the way. [ 07-24-2006, 03:35 PM: Message edited by: sdkidaho ]

Any of you guys have any waterfowl mounts done? I've been looking at a few mounts here and there and man, I'd really like to get a pintail and a canvasback mounted. Totally putting the cart before the horse here, as I haven't even ever been duck hunting, but I did "see" a canvasback (or maybe it was a redhead, not sure as they were tree-top high and flying fast) last fall. Man I'm excited to go and give it a whirl! Need to go buy a call to practice. I like this guy as a taxidermist: http://www.birdmanstudios.com/ He does some pretty nice looking stuff. Not sure how good his pricing is as I've never mounted anything, but they sure look nice.

Cool - look forward to seeing your mods.

Pump action, Super Nova. Only in 12ga though, and I'm not sure on the price. Probably close to the $400 I would think.

Super Nova with the comfortech system. Only comes in 12ga though.

You might actually be able to get some instruction there. Call them up and ask if they offer any lessons, as I'm sure that you aren't the first first time shooter that they've had. I know what you mean though. I worry about the same thing - worrying that I'll go there, miss every clay that flies by and have people wondering why I'm holding a shotgun. Give your club a call and ask what they have available - I'm positive they'll hook you up. Best of luck - hope you enjoy it thoroughly.
-
So, which ones taste the best then?
-
What is it? Besides some type of cat, I mean.
-
How do you prove that to your buddies? Or are they using Huntibus Succeedium Celebratus - (AKA - Antifreezum Humanus) when you're doing this trick? And... I missed the dang show. Will have to try to catch one of the other airings of it.
-
Yeah, that's what I thought. Figures that the ones with the highest limit taste the worst. Ah well...
-
Yeah, but I'm not interested in those shotguns.
-
Are those any good to eat? I can shoot 25 of those a day, so I'm assuming they are crap.

Pass shooting turkeys. You crack me up.

Council Reccomends BIG Changes on Atlantic Canadas

Our F&G just collected like 500 of them off of our local green belt (nice park like area down town) and hauled them off to other places. Apparently, they get fed so well that they aren't migrating like they should. I think they took 50-100 of them and slaughtered them and gave them to needy families. -
Ducking? No pun intended, right?

Try the "search" feature.

Cool. Might be worth a look.

SBE II, 28" Overall length: 49.6" Weight: 7.3 lbs --- Xtrema 2, 28": Overall length: 50.75" Weight: 7.8 lbs 26": 48.75" --- Not sure about other shotguns in comparison, but the Beretta was definitely longer. The 26" Beretta felt like the 28" Benelli. Watching the video is good advice, and then handling a couple at your local sporting goods shop will help. Also, you can read what was said in these threads in this forum as well: First thread. Second thread. Third thread. I had the same question a while back.

Cool guide - thanks. Also, if you want another good resource for actual photos you can look here. An online encyclopedia. I just happened to use it the other day to grab photos of all the ducks we have in our local regs so that I could start to learn to identify them better. They had pics of all the ones I checked on.

I should note that I am not a member of the Wild Extreme's Staff, nor do I gain anything from telling everyone about this contest. I frequent their forums and this is an awesome opportunity for anyone that loves waterfowl hunting as well as the procedes going to a worthy cause and so I thought I'd share. Thanks. -
Ever wanted to hunt geese in Canada? Ever wanted to hunt geese at one of the first places they stop during their migration? Ever wanted to be on TV while hunting? If you answered yes, then here is your chance! If you've ever seen Wild Extremes, the hunting show, then you'll know that the host is a down to earth guy and that a chance to be on the show would be an awesome trip that would be something to talk about for years to come! What a way to warm up your Benelli! Check out the contest here: http://community.wildextremes.tv/forum/index.php?topic=1598.0 Also, note that all procedes go to the Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, where newborns and infants receive much needed medical attention. Tell them sdkidaho sent you over.
