  1. Once there goto the bottom of the page until you see the Miscellaneous Options, and then in the pull down choose Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls After that you then have the controls back when you post a new thread or reply to one that allow you to do things like add a URL (web address) or picture to your post, etc.: Hope that was helpful.
  2. Maybe all of you guys have went and done this already but since the forum update I have been wondering where some of the features are when I post and or reply to a thread. I was going to PM a Moderator to ask if something hadn't been turned back on but figured I better check my User setup first and sure enough the settings are there. Once you log in you can click on User CP located at the top left of your screen: Then down below that in the first menu area click on Edit Options:
  3. I am by no means an expert. I am a Novice in every sense of the word when it comes to shotguns so take my opinion with that knowledge. I LOVE my Xtrema 2. I know I'm not as knowledgable as I should be about cleaning it and what not, but so far I haven't had any trouble with it. I don't hunt every weekend, or shoot every week, but what I have done so far I have used my Beretta - grouse, partridge, pheasant, waterfowl and some clays (and the odd stray pigeon that may be unfortunate enough to fly past me). My biggest reason for buying the Xtrema 2 was recoil. I liked both the SBE II and the Xtrema 2, and both shouldered well for me. Granted the Xtrema 2 was a little bit more bulky, but not so much so that bothered me. I'm sensitive to recoil and always have been since I first started hunting, and the Kick Off system makes that shotgun well worth the money to me. I swear it is less recoil than my 20 gauge Nova, and knowing that I go out and just hunt. I get to go and enjoy the hunt and never give a second thought to recoil. I've done a minor cleaning on it since I've owned. Ran a bore snake through the barrel, cleaned up the threads on a choke that was showing some minor rust, oiled things up a bit, but so far that's it. I'm working on putting together something (for myself) on how to go through it and clean it thoroughly, but just haven't gotten that completed yet. If clean-up is your biggest hang up on the Xtrema 2 vs. the SBE II, well... again I'm not an expert but for the difference in how finicky (and finicky might be a strong word in this case) the two guns operate, I think I'd be willing to endure a few more minutes of cleaning for the performance you gain. NOT to say that the SBE II isn't an awesome performer, as obviously it is by the number of people here that have one and use one. I just know that for me, that I don't want to worry if I've shouldered the shotgun good enough so that it goes bang whenever I pull the trigger. And I want to know that as long as I buy decent shells that my gun is going to cycle them despite if they are light loads or not. So far none of that has been an issue for me. I truly love the gun and have enjoyed shooting it. It won't be the only shotgun I ever buy again or use for that matter, but it will get used more than it's fair share I do believe. As for the Kick-Off system - spend the extra money and get it with the gun. You're ok with recoil now, but eventually you're going to get older and sooner or later you'll start to feel it. Might as well enjoy the benefits that are available to you. And if it makes you feel any better, I think one of our more well-known residents here would own an Xtrema 2 (and shoot it more than his SBE II) if they made one for left handed shooters.
  4. I'm not really an advocate for either side here as I've never been exposed to it. A couple of questions do come to mind. Do the flooded crops benefit the migrating waterfowl? Obviously not every duck or goose that passes over these flooded crops is shot and killed, so the question is whether or not food there is a benefit to the birds that are passing through, an easy meal as it were, on a long journey. Also, would this new legislation include the people that plant food plots to attract big game animals? I see a lot of commercials on the hunting channels about food plots for deer, to attract them and help them grow the large antlers, and products to prepare the ground for the food plot, etc. It would seem to me that this is the very same type of thing you are talking about, but only for big game instead of waterfowl.
  5. Go over to Shotgun World and post this question in the Beretta forum. I'm sure the guys there will be able to recommend a good gas operated shotgun for your wife. Tuckers advice is right on the money.
  6. I don't believe it is, but your best bet for Beretta questions is at Shotgun Worlds forums.
  7. You could liken it to the SBE and the SBE II from Benelli.
  8. Yeah, I saw the title but I thought you were kidding. I didn't think they let you guys still hunt over there. And yes, there would be a very small group of "us" left.
  9. Sounds like you need some J-B Weld.
  10. All I'm saying is that we should probably leave the torches and pitchforks at home and that all the attention this is getting probably isn't necessary. It isn't the mods that are causing the problem. Obviously the forum upgrade changed some defaults and those defaults needed to be adjusted. Done. This isn't a matter of how much offense people should be able to handle, or even how inconvenient it was to interpret shell was blocking out the last four letters. Notify the mods, give them time to respond and or fix the problem. As for not taking the job that's a moot point. I'd love to be a mod here. Of course we'd have a smaller forum family if I was a mod as I'd have to ban the stupid people.
  11. Wait... we were picking on Nelli Girl? I thought we were picking on photopro.
  12. My favorites are the ones I hit. Other than that, I'm easy.
  13. From Tuckers link: Point of Impact We are asked on occasion about chokes that do not center the pattern exactly on the aiming point. Most shooters want a shotgun that centers the pattern exactly with the point of aim. Most shotguns are manufactured in theory to do this. The problem arises between theory and fact. It is not unusual to find shotguns that shoot high or low and to the right or left or a combination of these. Shotguns that pattern ½ above and ½ below the point of aim have what is commonly known as a 50/50 pattern. One that shoots ¾ of the pattern over and ¼ under the point of aim has a 75/25 pattern and so on. Certain guns are designed to give patterns other than 50/50. WE WILL ASSUME that you know if your gun was designed to give a pattern other than 50/50. Some of the common reasons for off center patterns are listed below. Defective choke tube Bent barrel Choke/barrel alignment Loose barrel Poor gun fit FLINCH
  14. As her mouse cursor hovers over the ban button, I laugh.
  15. I'd rather live with an aggressive filter versus no filter. There are too many morons in the world that don't understand what offensive is. It seems to be working fine now, but it's nice to have something in place rather than nothing. Moderate a forum sometime. It's a thankless job, filled with whiners knocking at your door all the time, and children that fight with one another endlessly. A little filter never hurt anyone
  16. To quote Crocodile Dundee... "That's not a gun. Now THAT'S a gun:"
  17. The only thing I've found on them that I didn't like, was that they didn't have the small D-rings on the front to clasp stuff to. I'm talking about the ones you see here in this picture of Tucker: Those D-rings are nice as you can clip an shell holder to them or hand warmer or whatever. I got around it by buying a couple of carabiners: and hooking them around the straps. Not as nice as if they had come with it from the start, but it was a cheap fix. 18. What he's trying to says is that while he's as old as Leroy, his waders are newer.
  19. I bought a pair of 3mm 600 gram ones from Cabelas and they've worked great. They have kept me "more" than warm every time I've been out. I'm not sure how they would do if I was just sitting in a blind, but for the walking and puddle jumping I've been doing they have been more than sufficient to keep me warm. Almost too warm. I'm going to try to go again next Saturday and our temps here in are hovering around 20 degrees so I'll see how they do, but I've been out with them when it was nearly that cold and did fine. Nice price as well. $99.00 was cheap for waders, and they seem to be really nice quality.
  20. Very cool. Glad you guys were able to get in there and hunt!
  21. Lets say thanks. Take a minute to visit this website, fill out a card (for free) and have it sent to one of our brave men and women in combat. http://www.letssaythanks.com
