  1. Picked them up from Numrich: http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-3/981624/IMGP3926.jpg http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-3/981624/IMGP3929.jpg The rear was a PITA to mount, but I look forward to giving them a spin.
  2. I've used a few kinds of 30-06 ammo in mine — from 1950s-vintage Lake City and 1970s Korean M2 surplus (non-corrosive, yes) to new Federal 180grn SPs and never had a jam. I'm lucky, I guess. Never done a 250-round string without cleaning, however...
  3. I can comfortably run 80 rounds with my 30-06 R1, while I'm done after about 30 rounds with my old Enfield M1917. While I miss the bruising and after-shoot ache... er, well, okay, I don't.
  4. Amazing pics! I have the Comfortech as well (30-06) and look forward to trying my luck with elk and deer next fall. Perhaps hogs this spring...
  5. I'd been looking for a set for a while and finally found them here. I have a nice Leupold scope, but you never know... http://www.e-gunparts.com/products.asp?chrMasterModel=4150zR1&MC=
  6. Great thread -- especially the logic of setting a zero at 200. Hadn't thought ot it that way.
  7. Pretty fancy, but not an option for me in California. I look forward to living vicariously through your range reports!

Probably been answered before, but why can't I find iron sights for my R1 here when they are available in Europe? Anyone else ordered them from somewhere? I found the parts breakdown here, but there's no obvious place to order them...
  9. Hey, new to this board. I know there's an R1 area, but thought I should ask in this general B folder as well: Will there be a 10-round mag for the R1 in 30.06 like this new one for .308 Win.? http://www.e-gunparts.com/DisplayAd.asp?chrProductSKU=957880&chrSuperSKU=&MC=YJ
  10. Hey Jim, Yeah, I got my R1 about 6 months ago, a 30.06 as my new primary hunting rifle (a classic Remington M1917 has been demoted to my backup). I got one with an Eotech stock, which makes it quite easy to handle even after 80-100 rounds. My M17 is a shoulder-buster after about 40-50. I'm not an extremely experienced shooter, so I'm probably not as critical as some may be, but I'm very happy with my purchase. I'm taking both rifles out to Colorado this Fall for a deer hunt. Cheers, Dave
  11. I recently sold a Tokarev SVT-40 through Gunbroker and had quite a number of obviously fraudulent "buyers" who just wanted to do little more than kick the tires and offer oddball "layaway" deals. At last, someone won my auction: Then claimed to be 17 years old and thought it was legal for him to buy. Er, no. I finally sold it to a guy via a new auction, who, as it turned out, lived just about 3 miles from my own house. Funny.
  12. Wow — I really love the trigger on my R1, but I've probably been shooting too many milsurp rifles to know any better! My Benelli is the only long gun in my safe that's younger than I am! (40!) I'll have to work up to having such discriminating tastes.
  13. So I saw a 10-round .308 Win mag is available. Will there be one in 30.06? Would love to get one... http://www.e-gunparts.com/DisplayAd.asp?chrProductSKU=957880&chrSuperSKU=&MC=YJ
