    M2 Cycling issue

My 20ga M1 (same action as M2) has been slow cycling, sometimes not picking up the new shell. Gave it a light cleaning with some improvement... but today I broke it down to small parts. Dropped the trigger group etc and pulled the magazine spring as well. Everything is looking good now and the bolt is cycling fast and lock'n up like new. There was definitely some gunk on the mag spring so after cleaning the mag tube and the spring I expect it's going also going to feed well. I've been shooting this gun for more than ten years so breaking it down and pulling the magazine assembly and trigger group was long overdue.
  2. I have the 20ga M1 and IMO the 26" barrel is the ideal length. I've had it 10 years or so but a couple of years back I got tired of lugging the 12ga around and the 20 has become my primary chukar gun. Going shorter than 26" can cause the shooter to stop the swing too soon, the gun is very light and being consistent with follow-through is critical. The M1 is identical to the M2 except for the stock and forend and a redesigned safety button. The 12ga M2's have the longer choke tubes and back bore barrel but the M1 and M2 20's have the same original choke tubes and barrels. Great gun, you'll like it. SD
  3. +1 Makes for better AM Radio reception !!
  4. Glad you found an M2, was it from Tom Forbes in Nevada? SD
  5. Tom had one or two a month ago, some of the best pricing on Benelli shotguns around. His shop is in Carson City NV at the Capital City Gun Club. 775-772-8204 http://tomforbesgunstorenv.com/
  6. Yes... and no...sort of. The M! barrel will fit and operate perfectly on the M2 using the M2 forearm with out any problem at all. The M2 barrel will fit on the M1 and operate properly but the M1 forearm needs modification to fit. The M2 forearm can be used on the M1 instead without any modification. There's a thread on the forum showing how the M1 forearm needs to be modified.
  7. I have a 12ga M1 and a 12ga M2 and both cycle 1oz light loads well. Never had any problem with either.
  8. Took it out for a test shoot today, ran without any problems... light loads cycled well.... ghost load worked... Heckler Koch import... took it home for 830.00 incl tax and background check.
  9. Thank you guys, appreciate the input. I'll take another look at it this week.
  10. Looking at an used M1 w/21" vent rib blk/syn that looks like it wasn't shot much, very clean and I'm wondering what it's value may be. I don't shoot three gun but would probably set it up with an ext magazine for a truck gun and home defense... a 21" barrel doesn't swing very well so as a bird gun the short barrel makes it less than ideal. I have a never used M2/SBEII pistol grip stock that I was thinking would work, but after looking at the stock I'm not sure they're compatible. Anyone know for sure? But, right price and it may be something worthwhile to pick up. No box, one tube. Thanks SD
  11. This really applies to any shotgun but in California can I have my Benelli in my vehicle with rounds in the magazine tube and the chamber empty? Are the laws different for traveling between hunting locations and just traveling? Interpretation of law different between hunting models and tactical models? Thanks SD
  12. You may already know this but you only need to plug the gun in most states (not all) for migratory game such as waterfowl and doves. This is a federal requirement. Some states, like Oregon I believe, require a shotgun used on upland game hold a max of three shells, two in the mag and one in the chamber.
  13. I received a black syn Steady grip with my M2 and I'd like to find out which 12ga Benelli guns it will fit in addition to the M2? M1, SBE, SBEII, M4. Thanks for the assistance. Sagedog
