  1. I dont own an M2 . I have SBE I and II-Cordoba- and 20 ga M1. I have had minor SBE 1 oz issues with Winchester el -cheapo Game loads(the kind with silver colored brass) and the notorious Remington game loads(black nasties). The Cordoba will feed ANYTHING. The little 20 ga M1 does not like the cheap stuff. It will stop working atfer about 4 cases of the cheap stuff if you don't clean it. My buddy just bought 2 M2s and so far they will digest the cheapest dirtiest shells that you can find(even the awful stuff they sell in Mexico and Argentina). I have heard that the M1s had feeding issues when dirty even though I never expierenced this with the 5 or so that I have owned-except for the 20 gauge. I have heard that the M2s are damed near impossible to jam.
  2. you are correct. found out that the forearm will fit. stock will not. Thanks
  3. Nice choice on the Zeiss. You won't be sorry making that decision. The VX-III is certainly acceptable but IMHO the Zeiss is better for the $$.I am using a 300 WM comfortech with a 3.5 x 10 swarovski similar to your Zeiss. . I am getting about 1-1/2" groups with winchester ballistic silvertips 180grain. If I could do something about this %*&@!!! trigger, I think the gun would shoot under an inch. The SC season is next week , so that issue will have to wait til after the season is out. The 180 gr 300 Wm round is devastating. I have shot 2 300 lb+ whitetails in Canada with this round and it dropped them both in their tracks. sounds like you made all the right choices. good luck.
  4. THANKS- let me know how that works out. I am tempted to remove the trigger group and send back to the factory
  5. Certainly nothing wrong with leupolds. I have several and have NEVER had a problem with any of them. I have had hunting trips involving travel ruined by Redfield and Nikon scopes(early models). A friend of mine had a serious warranty issue on a 1500.00 pair of Zeiss binoculars(water dammage from deer hunting in the rain). In spite of this I still think the Conquest is a excellent choice for the money. I have abused and accidentaly dropped my Swarovski stuff over the years and they have never denied a warranty claim. If I have learned anything from 30+ years of buying deer rifles it is this. If you have 1400.00 to spend on a deer rifle/scope combo-spend 400.00 on a rifle and 1000.00 on a scope. The guy who spends a small fortune on a high $ rifle and pennies on a scope is making a mistake. I learned the hard way. The vari x 3's is a great scope but it's price puts it close to some elite company. At that point, the german stuff deserves a serious look. Strictly a personal choice and a bang for the buck issue. For 500 bucks you can pick up some really badass stuff from the SWFA sample list.
  6. Easy question. SBE 2 . Remington Heavi shot. Modified choke. the stuff is freaking unbelievable. Deadlier than lead ever had a chance to be.Steel sucks . Terrible idea in the first place unless you like wounded birds. Just adjust shot size to what ever you are shooting.
  7. dove hunted this month - son used BSE 1 shooting 1-1/8 loads- 3 dram. never a problem. we have had 4 different SBEs 1 and 2. no problem whatsoever with 3d 1-1/8 oz. They will also shoot 1 oz AAs ok but don't depend on it. My 2 boys and I have shot tens of thousands of 1-1/8 oz through them in hunting, skeet, and sporting clay situations. NO PROBLEMS. 2-3/4 are fine in this gun. In my opinion more reliable than the m1s and m2s. 99% of function problems in benellis are cheap ammo on sale at wal mart. I always use winchester ammo. AAs or winchester super piegion.
  8. For vari x III cash I would take a hard look a Zeiss conquest, Kahles, or Swarovski 1" tube. Kahles and Zeiss conquest have pretty much cleaned Leupold's clock in the last few years in that price market. No way would I pay 500+ for leupold. Check out SWFA- sample list on the web. Salesman's sample stuff like new- most still have the warranty cards in the box. KILLER prices. You can get a nice Kahles for that price. Highly reccomend.
  9. My son's M1 20 ga is very funny about ammo. Feeds AAs like a champ. Will not feed winchester game loads (silver box dove shells ) at all. I have owned at least 10 other benellis and have never had a problem. A buddy sold his M1 12 ga because of jamming problems. His new m2 functions flawlessly. Personally, I would not consider any other brand. The other stuff ,with the exception of beretta is junk in my opinion.
  10. I have an SBE 1 . Does anyone know if a new comfortech stock and forearm from an SBE 2 will fit the SBE 1???
  11. The trigger pull on my new R1 300 wm feels like 10 pounds. Otherwise , I love the rifle. Any suggestions as far as anybody who works on them.
