  1. Thanks QBP, they haven't really caught on too much in other states but around here, everyone's buying them up. I just got the chance this morning to get out and put a few through my new toy. OH boy am I going to love this gun Absolutely sweet! It cycled great, very fast and the point of impact was right on the money! Wabbits around the Mason Dixon Line, watch out cause here I come to put the hurt'in on ya... LOL
  2. Lack of respect turkey hunter give each other. I wish more hunters would do their homework and scout more than just one bird! That way if they see that someone woke up before they did and got there first, you can hunt another place without being a jerk.
  3. Montefeltro 20GA I’m new to these Benelli guns. I bought my first Benelli last June (SBE II) and then just today, I went and bought a Montefeltro 20ga with a 24" barrel for wabbit hunting in PA/WV next weekend I plan on using this gun mostly for wabbit and grouse hunting but would like to set it up for turkey hunting as well for either as a back up or if I take a kid hunting. I’ve got a few questions on it and hope someone can set me straight on it. First question, is the Montefeltro also referred as the Super 90 or that a different model? And does anyone know if Rhino makes a tube that will fit this gun? I’ve got a big box of 25 shells coming next week from Nitro. I owe it to “Big Ben” (my gun) to start my patterning off right by putting the Rhino tube in.
  4. I just sold my Rhino and Kick's tubes I used in my Remington turkey set-up. If the Jellyhead doesn't perform like I think it should, I'll be ordering the Rhino again
  5. Welcome! I too just became a BSE II owner a week ago. I also just ordered the Primos Jellyhead choke tube for my gun. From what I've read on this forum and others plus the information on Nitro web site, the Jellyhead and Rhino were mentioned in their testing. They both seem to pattern the same and seeing that Primos is a lot cheaper than the Rhino tube, I thought I'd give it a try again. Where are you from?
  6. SWEET How about a little advice for a sling while you're on here? I'd like to use an Uncle Mike's black shotgun sling but after seeing the one you have, I like it better. Now my gun will be set up mostly for turkey hunting. All my dove, grouse and wabbit hunting will be done with a 20GA. When I'm out turkey hunting I like to have the sling attached but as soon as I get set up to call or work a bird, the sling comes off. I've had too many times where that sling hanging down catches my knee and I don't like it. Are the swivels you have on your turkey thumper quick disconnect or easy to remove? I'm looking to order the Jelly Head choke tube in a few days to see how it likes my gun. I’m just waiting for a guy to send payment for my old Remington Rhino tube in order to purchase it. I’ll also be trying the Kick’s GT tube. My buddy owes a sporting goods shop and I can try it with out actually spending the money for it first. The Rhino tube will be last one to try if my gun doesn’t like the Jelly head. The process of working a good turkey load can be very costly. This is way I’m doing it now so that come spring I can concentrate on the places I plan on hunting and not have to worry about my gun. Thanks for the help
  7. What's this gell pad I keep seeing popping up in threads? Are the SBE II shooters changing the recoil pad that comes with the gun? I picked up my SBE II the other day and I'm just starting to trick it out. I'd love to hear more about these pads and why doesn't anyone like the recioil system Benelli has with the gun. Recoil pads, chokes (Rhino&Nitro), sling & swivels, stock comb and Williams Fire Sights arte all things I'll be looking into for my turkey set-up. Any help or input would be appricated
  8. OK I just bought the SBE II the other day and I'm looking to start dressing her it up. I'm mostly going to be turkey hunting with it so a sling is a must even though I take it off on every hunt. Does anyone know if Uncle Mike's swivel will fit the SBE II stock hole? And if so would happen to know which stock number it would be? I'm looking to add that along with a black shotgun sling to my new gun. Thanks for any help
  9. Along with my taxidermists son Philip, we put a thumping on a NH gobbler this morning. We got there around 3:50am and as I was setting up Leroy I had two cars pull up to the field. I was 125 yards out in the open field hitting my flash light and it didn't stop these guy from trying to move in on this small field. I don't know where they went at the time but later on in the morning, they were only hunting about 10 yards off the main road. I had the gobbler gobbling on roost with just a few calls from "The Enticer" and thought it was just a matter of time before he would pitch down to our set-up. Well he didn't! Instead he pitch down on the other side of the field roughly 300 yards away and I could see him strutting and gobbling to my calls. Just as he started to work our way I noticed him running off into the tree line towards the river. I looked to my right along the field edge next to the road and there was two hunting walking down the field parallel from the gobbler. They walked as most 200+ yards and pass my blind, the decoy set-up Leroy w/two girlfriends. Now I'm sitting outside of the blind, Philip and his Dad are in so I raised my arms up as if saying, "what the blank is up!" All they did was wave to me and keep on walking to a field directly behind us as if trying to cut the bird off from coming in that way. All this did was piss me off to no end! I got up walked around the tree line and start towards them right in the middle of the second field. Once they saw me they stopped and I'm sorry but I will not repeat what was said by me! I ripped them both a new one! I went back to the blind only to have my buddy tell me he heard the gobbler on the other side of the field where I last saw him. So instead of being more food for the mosquito's, I jumped in the blind. We heard nothing so I told them we would wait until 6:30 before leaving the spot. I did a crow call a few minutes later and boom! there he was. Gobbling across the river about 100+ yards away. I started up with the mouth call and man did I have him worked up. This went on for at least 1/2 an hour before I finally saw the white cap about 35 yards out from us walking into the field from the rivers edge. I gave a few soft cuts and yelps and he went to full strut. As he did I gave a few more calls and he turned our way. He made a few steps closer and over a small rise in the field and saw Leroy! Once he laid eyes Ole' Leroy, he went to a half strut and ran the rest of the way in looking to kick some butt. He almost looked like me running towards those two slop hunters. Young Philip did an excellent job getting the gun up and out the blind as he charged within 15 yards of us. As he got to my hen decoy and went into full strut, Dan & I both whispered, "take him". Boy did that 20GA absolutely flatten the gobbler. He never knew what hit him. That young man put an excellent shot on him and he just dropped like a mating hen kicking maybe once or twice but never flopping a wing. The bird turned to out to be an AWESOME gobbler with stats like 20lb 10" thick beard 1-3/16" hooked spurs "The Enticer" 15 yards shot
  10. Here's my other gobbler that I couldn't fit/add to the previous post
  11. Well, I'm all done turkey hunting for this spring. I filled another tag on Saturday morning at 6:35am here in NH by taking my fourth for the season. This guy must have pretty busy with all the ladies seeing he only weighted 16lb He was sporting a 8-1/2” beard, 13/16" spur and 15/16" spur. Below will be a recap of photos. Tooky River Calls were reasonable in all four deaths of three mature Toms and one Jake. “The Enticer” took down a WV gobbler, a VT gobbler and a NH gobbler. “The Tominator” took care of his business with the three Jakes running off my Tom a few times. Had an AWESOME season this year and can’t wait for 2008 to roll around. Congratulations to those that have got to fill your tags and for those that are still out there hunting….best of luck to ya
  12. I don't agree with taking long shots but you defiantly had the right choke and ammo for it. Next time buy a few of my calls and get them in close
  13. Used it in WV once or twice this year and it worked pretty well. It's too bulky to carry around and I love calling in turkeys so I didn't used it that much.
  14. I've used that stuff last year and it's awesome! Actually I feel it's too tight under 20 yards.
  15. New guy here but not new to turkey hunting. After three states and four birds, my 2007 turkey season is over. I'm looking to to become a Benelli owner and I've just got a few questions for turkey hunters and their Benelli guns. Any trouble patterning your Benelli? How did your gun shoot out of the box? Did you have to top it off with sights to move your pattern? Is the Benelli trigger pull smooth or rough? In the past, I've always had a little trigger work done on my turkey guns just to smooth them out and was wondering about the Benelli's triggers. I know each of these questions might vary from gun to gun but I was hoping to get a general idea of what to expect before putting out $$$. I'd like to set it up with a Rhino tube and Nitro load but to tell you the truth, I like tend to call them in close and that combo is pretty scary under 20 yards. I used it last year with my 870 and it's like shooting a rifle that close. Thanks for any input on my questions
