:confused:Joined today to let you know I had the same problem. Mine took three trips back to benelli and finally got the big boys at basspro to do some calling to fix mine. With a new polished bolt and a new trigger assembly mine works fine now. I tried all the different oils too and thats not the problem. I would call the folks at benelli and let them know whats going on. I hope your dealer backs you as good as bass pro did me. Good luck and I think benelli can fix your problem. By the way mine hated federals too.
Mine fired federal buckshot 3.5" without any problems thank good I Would be alot more mad if i missed a nice buck rather than the ammo that jams for pheasants. Im going to try different ammo and see if its alright, unfortunately I bought this is philly PA and I live at the jersey shore so its a long hike to take gun back to dealer, all he's gonna do is mail it to benelli i could probably do that myself through ups

I put my SBII back together after taking apart recoil plunger/spring. The stock shim for right hand model says DX in the upper left, the piece that coresponds is either A DX or B DX which is stock?
-
its part of the cast i beleive. And from my understanding it IS loc tited..I heated mine up with a bic slow turning for almost a minute, had a friend hold the receiver and used a 17mm wrench on the slots and turned COUNTER clock wise. After I removed the screw, spring and recoil plunger I cleaned and lubricated everything with clp.I used a 20 gauge cloth type cleaner and rod to clean out the recoil tube then put about 6 drops of clp throughout the tube and reassembled (no need for loctite) then depresed the plunger a few times wiht a long rod to work the clp all over the tube. hope this helps

Thanks again hog...lets hope it was just that ammo, maybe a defective box or lot..its just strange it happened 4 different times only on the first shot all shots after were fine. I do have a bottle of militec so I could try that. As i mentioned i put some on my rubber gloves and rub the bolt head but the bolt railsi put 1 or 1 drops and spread it around... a few in the recoil tube itself. I do find that if i pull the bolt back and push it forward instead of releasing sometimes it catches back and you have to push it forward, I know in the field you always wanna let the bolt slam shut but is your gun like that too?

I havent heard of this before. My issue with SBII is that the first shot gets fired but the shell doesnt eject, after that you can fire it all day and its fine. It was only wiht one type of ammo so im going to try something different but it was federal wing shok pheasants forever 4dram 1 1/4oz shot 1500fps so it aint like its dogshit ammo. Per benelli I will try something else like remington, I even went as far as taking out the recoil tube spring and cleaning/lubricrating this tube. Your issue sounds like it might be something with the trigger assembly not telling the magazine to release a shell I Would call benelli or try taking out the trigger assembly and cleaning it and make sure the piece inside with the spring thats next to the magazine is functioning. Does the drop cartridge lever work ok? What I mean is if you loaded it up and cycled it and pressed cartridge lever does everything function properly?(using live ammo without firing of course)

search feature works?
http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showpost.php?p=81045&postcount=2 this is more info than you would get from most gunsmiths and probably a much better cleaning job by using tuckers tutorial!

try some quality lubrication such as hoppes, militec, never use more than a drop or 2 when oiling things and wipe off excess. do not like CLP it's a 3 in 1 product and it just does not work for me! i use a midas grease in a few places, it's a browning product and works good on slides and at the back of the bolt group where the link hits the reciever.
Benellis are particular to crappy ammo so that should fix most of your problem!
Thanks for your input! I actually got the recoil tube spring out and cleaned all that with a cloth 20 gauge end. I put a few drops of clp inside there and cleaned, light lube on the spring.. i sprayed out the ejector slide on the inside of the barell with some cleaner and then two drops clp while working it up and down with a screwdriver. I have use militec before on my handguns and didnt like it as much as CLP, I beleive they are both very similiar. I know the miltary uses clp and if they are using it on their m4 carbines and m4 shotguns its good enough for me! What was your bad experience with it and how good do you think the oil that came with the gun is? I actually wear nitrile gloves when cleaning and something like the bolt where u have a few different parts to oil i put a few drops and spread it out with my hands that way its not visibly wet. then when its back together i wipe it off with a rag
-
No need to oil the outisde of the gun, I use a rag with a little oil to wipe it down after using in the field. If im out in the rain i completely take it apart, clean dry and lub it

As you guys know i've had jamming issues only on the first shot when using my gun. Anyone have a step by step of what needs oiling? I know how to disassemble the gun and from my understanding the only thing that needs oiling are bolt rails and recoil tube. Ive been using CLP and wondered maybe I should use the supplied oil that came with the gun. Also do you guys lube the ejector slide/spring on the inside of the barell? When I do have problems with the gun jamming on first **** it fails to eject the round and i have to pull it out. Im going to try different ammo.

See if Benelli will send you a new one

^^^^^^^^^^^BUMP

Benelli said to try different ammo. That federal ammo is 4dram 1 1/4oz shot. I guess I will.
-
nothing like shooting sporting clays with a combat shotgun! lol get a skeet choke and shoot #9 shot you will do good
-
Do you guys oil the ejector slide on the inside of the chamber?
-
When you chamber that first round, do you baby the bolt foreward, or do you rip it back and let her fly like you should?
I use the bolt release button and let it go fully forward..the round never ejects so maybe the ejector is messed up. BUT like i said only hte first round is like that.
-
Normal, due to some interaction with the carrier or whatnot. I am sure someone here knows EXACTLY what's up and can explain better.
Instead of forcing it at this point, pull back that 1/10th inch of slack you have and let go. It will fall nicely into battery. Normal.
Im gonna call benelli tomorrow but do you have any idea of why the first round hangs up? Lame if i have to walk into the field and fire a round and then be like "ok im ready to hunt" you know what i mean?
-
should be the other way around the remingtons should not cycle and the federals should. Weird. Are you saying you are cycling the gun by hand and it hangs up.
Thats whats strange its only the first shot and it has only happened with this federal ammo. By hanging up i mean im holding the bolt handle and pulling it all the way back and pushing it forward, sometimes when you goto push forward there is some resistance and if you take your hand off the bolt it will look like its locked back, push forward and it will come free but u gotta use some force.

I have an SBII that has been giving me problems jamming on the first shot. Ill try and make this as specific as I can. I broke the gun in with high brass and buckshot and everything was fine for a few hundred rounds, even light target loads were fine. I purchased federal ammo for pheasant hunting and it jams first shot two different hunts. All shots after were fine but it failed to eject the empty shell and bolt was basically stuck back so i removed shell and pushed forward. I went deer hunting two seperate times and fired 3 1/2" in bukcshot without any problems. I cleaned and lubricated my recoil tube as I thought that might be the problem and same with the both all oiled with clp. I tried 4 rounds of this federal ammo, first shot JAM! the others were fine then I ran 5 boxes of these remington loads through without a hitch. For some reason the first shot it hangs up. NOW when i pull the bolt back and PUSH it forward sometimes it hangs up (basically looks looks like its locked back and then u have to push forward) if i pull it all the way back and release it, it never locks back always goes forward. BUT pushing it forward after having bolt back sometimes locks it up. I dont know if this is a load issue or what. Here are the loads im using as I said these federals see to jam on the first shot then fine for a few rounds after...all the remingtons were fine. Its only the first shot of the day so to speak. Any ideas? Also does anyone else have this problem with PUSHING the bolt forward and occasionally getting it to hang up? Im annoyed at this gun!

shotguns are illegal in cali? or just that type or semi auto? damn i thought NJ was bad.

What kind of oil do you use?

Art and beauty are very subjective matters.
What's appealing to one may well be repulsive to others.
You did an effective job.
IS that you tucker? hahahah
-
Does anyone know if you can switch barrels from slug to field w/out modifications like it says on the web site? Also can anyone give me a price on one. thanks:confused:
What they mean is you will only have to change barells no other modifications. Should run you about 1k
-
paint looks good...aimpoints arent cheap I have one on my AR15 but what you shooting at with that?
-
Is the bottom one with aimpoint a slug gun? Whats up with that muzzle break on the second to bottom one never see that before
-
name all of the above models correctly,if you can,,this means you to tucker,,,lol lol
I dont know if you could do that without looking at them so you could see receiver

Even your new one though, if you work the bolt open and instead of letting it close by itself, if you push it shut like open/shut a bunch of times can you lock the bolt back?
