  1. My lips are sealed, don't want risk losing my "informant"! No M1014 I am not full of it- why would I make it up? The source is in the biz, and in the know. Of course he could have lied to me but there again why? T-H "stay low"
  2. Yes Monkey, I am aware of that- but it seems the same people who are worried about the 922® federal regulations are the same people living in anti-gun states and worried about their unconstitutional sate laws as well- they go hand-in-hand. Personaly I have yet to see any evidence of 922 affecting anything we do to our guns short of sneaking in a full-up M4 across the border.
  3. Don't worry, in the end I won't be near as bad as MeNeelz with his Swiss army knife of a foregrip or Cathy with her bayonet! .........Just joshing guys! Love ya! Mean it! Semper Fi "I've seen it all and done most of it"
  4. Thanks! It will look better as the parts come in- Semper Fi "I've seen it all and done most of it"
  5. Good question- The easiest thing to do would be use the factory piece ,but that raises the 922 issue again in some left leaning states. While it could be made out of aluminum in the same style as the stock, it would be more complex and take longer to do. The stock would be all off-the-shelf tubing and plate, except for the cheek piece which could be cut to shape flat and then be bent into shape on a press. Everyone that responded that $500 is way to much, blah-blah-blah, .......come on guys and help yourselves if you want a US made stock. A potential maker is going to look at those doom and gloom posts and think "man, I am not going to be able to sell these things, so why make it?" (Yes there are accessory makers looking at this site- I have gotten feedback from a couple) And yes that was part of the reason why I started this thread, the chance of me getting time enough to make one for myself (@$!*& job!) is remote, not to mention going into production. Just my 2.5 cents worth. Semper Fi "I have seen it all and done most of it"
  6. Hmmm, interesting. I knew the dealer was writting the #s down- thought it was going in with the Fed approval forms. Can you think of a good reason why my #s should be secret? My insurance company has them, so in the unlikely event of theft, I will report the gun(s) stolen and I would be covered if that weapon was later used in a crime. And maybe more importantly if my M4 was lifted I would want EVERYONE to have my #s and be on the lookout for the M4napper!
  7. May I Kraut? ""Cheekweld" is the solid mounting of the fleshy/boney part of the face to the stock of the weapon. In plain real world terms it means that it is a good idea to press your mug up against the stock in a solid, firm way (not so hard that it cuts off circulation to your head!) and in the same place. This helps you a couple of ways- It makes your sight picture more consistant. It lessens the felt recoil to your gord so the possibility of flinching is reduced. Both of these improve accuracy. (If you put all the other pieces of good markmanship into practice along with it) Semper Fi "As far as Billary and the Brady bunch...... they are mentally ill and should be pitied and placed in an institution for the proper treatment." 8. "I always fuzz out my serial number if I show pictures of my firearms... you never know how it can come back to bite ya..." I thought about that- but for the life of me I could not think of a valid reason to do it- unless they totally outlaw guns and they send the goon squad around to collect my M4. .......That's not a reason either- they have my serial #s from the background check, .......depressing, just depressing.
  9. Surefire M600a on the B&T mount, like I said this is not it's final resting place. Not shown in pics but installed: Mepro tritium sights Mesa 6 shot side saddle Waiting on my pogo stock to arrive so I can bubble-gum on the quick detach sling attachment and sling.
  10. Brugger & Thomet double picatinny mount. Mounted farther back than I would like. It will be moved forward as soon as I recieve my SOCOMguy tube a couple of days from now.
  11. Fatty button and handle I installed today- Hey M1014, have ya ever installed a button on one of these? Both are solid, real world, tactical upgrades.
  12. Uh-oh! Did you hear that zodiac (or should I call you "mini z")? you have been banished to my little following! The horror! I promise I won't try to make you drink any kool-aid though. Are we going to have a secret handshake? A clubhouse? How about a flag? I always wanted my own flag- (it's the ego thing ya see) ........(trumpets sound) I PRONOUNCE MYSELF "SUPREME-EVERLASTING-MAJESTIC-MOST EXHALTED-KING'S EMPEROR! What do you guys think? Probably a bit much. OK, you can call me big-boss bubba, or just bubba when my mom's not around. Come on 1014 , your makin this way to easy! Get witty! Get Funny! Show us your moves boy! Stop it already with the high school stuff, bump it up a level. TEE! HEE! (If I am really gettin to ya I will be stop and be nice I promise) "Smart on everything"? Close- my sister calls me a jackarse of all trades. As far as general smarts I am supposed to have an IQ of 147, who knows? Who cares? My girlfriend, who is "spooky brilliant" herself (and a chemical enigineer), says I am one of the smartest people she knows. (maybe her circle of friends aint to bright?!) And I made through the hardest school in the military without a hitch, so I guess that does make me smarter than the average bear (or dog, in this case). With that said, I am one of the most laid back, UN-egotistical fellows you would ever meet. I can promise you that no one on this board would regret sitting down with me and having a beer (unless they were a completely narrow minded arse, I have my limits after all) Actually the old saying "the more you learn, the less you know" is becoming my mantra- there is a mountain of stuff out there that I don't know about- but I keep an open mind and learn everything I can. Now for the serious subject at hand- if you DO NOT know what you are talking about- and I mean solid experince on the subject in question, be it guns/tactics whatever- you should refrain from comment, period. We are discussing things here that could mean the end of someones life, lets just make sure, if it comes down to THE moment, that it is the sinner and not the Benelli packing-home defending-saint .....fair enough? I am not going to dignify the rest of the comments with a reply, except for one ..... yes, I have been called cute! Thank you, good night and please tip your waitresses. Huckleberry Hellish Hound I usually prefer to use my own qoutes/sayings but tonight I will make an exception- "Harsh language is the limited mind's way of expressing it's self" .... very true- wish I had thought of that first-
  13. I disagree- an aftermarket stock that is better than the factory unit AND counts towards 922 compliance for our republik of California M4tunates could bring well above $500. It is just a matter of how many you would want to sell. I am guessing you could sell a dozen or more at the $1,000 level, or several dozen at the $500 mark. This all hinges on Benelli not coming to their senses and selling the factory model again in the US of course. And come on Bs! Didn't you list your’s for $1,000 and then get $750 and a regular PG stock for it? You are trying to tell me the demand is not there?
  14. True indeed....... The prettiest gun I own is my compitition grade Citori, number two is toss up between my enhanced SS Colt Delta Elite 10mm or my Freedom Arms .454. As you can tell I like making big, deep holes with my sidearms. The M4 ranks somewhere in the middle, although in her defense she is in a different category than the rest. Semper Fi "Take the time to actually live life."
  15. I bet that title woke some people up! The more I study it, the more confident I am that I can build a coll. stock out of aluminum. It would not be easy or quick, but it is doable. It would have similar lines to the factory stock and function the same but with a few enhancements, they are listed below- Simms recoil pad Active recoil reduction system (would add weight and complexity to the build but would probably be worth it.) Adjustable cheek piece (not sure about this one, I will have to shoot my M4 with the factory coll. stock to see if the extra time/trouble would be worth it.) Built in shell holders. (Think MESA) And possibly some kind of quick change provision to go from different types of stocks more easily. It would be slightly heavier than the factory model but would be another imported part reducer for the 922 crowd. Just curious as to what price they would bring. The lowest price I am thinking would be $500- the current street price for a factory piece. But how much more than that would you guys and gals pay? $750?.... $1,000? Alas, unless I win the lottery and can quit my job, I would not have a lot of time to work on them. So it may be just the one I build for myself- The Hellish Hound "The most deadly weapon known to man is the human brain"
  16. Nothing is wrong with it. As one of my drill instructors at Parris Island always used to say "If you look good, you will fight good". Of course we caught him in the instuctor's hut one night wearing a dress, so I have doubts about anything he might have said. The devilish dawg
  17. Thanks Andy for the info in the PM. And I had my my first Guinness in Shannon- so I was pretty muched hooked from the first sip! David
  18. "Neither the EOTech or Benelli M4 are pretty." Bite your tongue Andy!!!! My M4 is a work of art!
  19. "~chuckles~ I got a gold star in kindergarden when I learned how to tie my shoes anyhow it sounds like I'll need a winch to pry yer panties from the bunch thats getting you all worked up!!!......calm down man, I like you......I'll just have a problem with that long name. I'll work on a shorter, easier to remember name for you tonight, how about "Rambo".....or "Stormshadow" (my favorite G.I. Joe) hmmmmm I'll think on it. Nuttin but love to ya, Wing" "P.S. I have a picture of John Wayne on the wall just above the stool in my bathroom....top that~LOL~" trust my panties ain't bunched up, the rant was for 1014- his "defensive" comments gave this "newb" an opening to get him spun up- sooooo I took it. BAD ME, BAD ME- tehe, I just could not resist. ESPECIALLY when someone is trying to pass on advice when it is obvious they don't have a whole lot of experince with weapons. For example there was a post where someone was complaining about the heavy trigger pull of their gun- it was 7 pounds. No huge deal on a shotgun but SOMEONE ELSE told them they would be instantly struck by lightning and would be damned for all eternity if they even thought about decreasing the pull weight. This is just wrong- the minimum legal here in AL is 2.5 or 3 lbs- I forget which. I would not go that low anyway but dropping it 1-2 lbs is not a problem. Granted if the gun owner has no clue what he doing he should take it to a competent gunsmith. My trigger on my new M4 is also to heavy or maybe more importantly it has to much creep or is to "rough". Since I have done it before I am going to hone (think polish) the trigger group parts- if this does not get me to where I want, then I will take it to a smith and let them lower it a couple of pounds- there is no reason why a 4.5/5 lbs pull would be unsafe. With all that said don't fret about me Wing- I have rhino thick skin- I take nothing personally and if I give you the business it's because I like you, and I expect to get the business in return. I probably shouldn't tell ya this but my nickname in the corps was "spooky". No I am not tellin ya why. And last but not least.... yes, I can top the Duke in the outhouse- I have a life sized tattoo of Ronald Reagan's bust on my back----------- Semper Fi "As far as Billary and the Brady bunch...... they are mentally ill and should be pitied and placed in an institution for the proper treatment."
  20. The #s do not match- I have Y016457 on my reciever and TM20294 on the barrel. Have you called sustomer service and notified them of the damage to your gun- if so what did they say?
  21. Long live the tubbster! '65 huh? That would put you in the same age bracket my dad (no offense intended! ). He and my mom were at the "punt bama, punt game". They got tickets from a friend on the 45 about 20 rows up....... on the Bama side! They almost got mobbed when they started yelling when Auburn made their stunning comeback. So you are retired airforce- do you know a retired AF EOD tech named "Blue" from arkansas?
  22. Bad news Bs- you just missed out on my generous offer! I have one on the way. And no, I did not spend a $1,000 or even $750. That 39 cents and some stamps was just to tempting for the seller to pass up!
  23. Who cares?! Looking cool is all that matters! Just kiddng, what it will do for me is get me into a smaller case, which is nice but not totally neccesary, and the main thing will be making it easier to stow in brush planes/helicopters for the work I am going to be doing this summer in Alaska. And I am sure some other benefits will become apparent after I install/use it.
