Like I said I am just a novice... Just looking for ways to have fun with my M4
-
All of the ranges in my area (Los Angeles) won't let you shoot at clays with an 18.5" barrel except one, they have a couple machines setup that shoot out the clays, if I miss em they land about 60 yards away. As far as what I am shooting are usually Fiocchi Super Crushers 7 1/2 1300 velocity or Fiocchi Little Rinos 8 1/2 1250 velocity. My friend got lucky with the camera and was able to capture me busting a clay mid-air. I really don't know what the **** I am doing, but I am having fun.

My grandfather always told me to use the right tool for the job... but... I am using my M4 to go clay busting. I have pretty good luck but I know the M4 isn't the best tool for the job. I was wondering what you guys thought of using a tighter choke to compensate for the short 18.5 inch barrel? I have been using Cylinder so far... Any other advice that might help besides buy another shotgun... thanks!

Seen this before, too bad I'll never ever get to play with one in California, and if there was a State that every could use one for self defense it's us. I am skeptical about the recoil, I would like to see them fire 3 1/2 Mag Slugs and see how it fires then. I would also like to see if it can cycle bean bags etc. It also looks like it weighs 50 lbs. We don't know in what kind of weather conditions it will operate, we don't know how many rounds it can spit out before it needs to cool off. I think the M4 is safe for now, this may be just a special applications firearm.

just say it, if the Dems win we're screwed.

Okay clue me in, what's the deal with matching shotguns? I have seen more than a few companies sell shotguns in pairs, what's the history behind this? Were there shotgun duels way back when?

I am also a novice in the shotgun world. My first introduction was with a Remington 870, using mild target loads. I felt like a gorilla just socked me in the shoulder. My best advice to you is to rent an 870 at the range next time, it has nothing in it to reduce recoil, then shoot your Nova, you will not fully appreciate what an amazing job your Nova does to reduce felt recoil until you shoot a more common 12ga. I personally have an M4 and have a lot of fun shooting high velocity 3" slugs they have some real kick, you will get use to it and your body will learn how to react. Watch some videos and even take a lesson at a local range, try not to pick up bad habits in the early stages, it makes it that much harder to overcome later. Good luck and have fun!

I have an M4 Desert Camo, and I baby my M4 and the camo gets scratch and chipped all the time. very disappointing... Around the pistons the camo is all scorched black Who knows maybe it's part of the design. they put a crappy finish on the gun so it will looked battle ravaged in less than 3 months of ownership. Have fun with the M4, its a **** of a lot of fun!

For me the M4 isn't all that easy to clean, the main sticking point for me is getting the trigger group in and out. It's always a pain.

Just wondering, what is the lightest ammo you can cycle consistently in your M4? I can cycle anything by Fiocchi that is low recoil, but the Fiocchi super or ultra low recoil will sometimes not cycle. I still can't seem to cycle any of the Winchester Winlite stuff. Has anyone been able to cycle bean bags or rubber slugs? thanks!

I had a LaserMax and sold it on ebay after about a week... Lasers are great for intimidating intruders, but it's usefulness as a sight is very limited, I would rent one first before spending the money... you'll see what I mean.

it sure would make life an lot easier to just dry fire my M4, I tried using snap caps but they often get stuck in the tube. Thanks again

Is it okay to dry fire an M4, yes? no? why? thanks

Well seems par for the course for Canada... In the USA we fought for our independence from the UK, King George was oppressive and tried to take our guns away. It's for that very reason why guns are a protected right in our constitution. As for Canada you never fought for your independence, you waited until the Queen didn't want you anymore and to this day you put her ugly mug on your money. Your tradition is to roll over for an oppressive government, so it's no surprise that you can only have 5 round mags, have to call the govt. every time you want to use your handgun and pay for expensive training classes, etc.

Hahaha, best thing I read all day... So it sounds like the Dummy Round idea wasn't the worst idea in the world but there seem to be a lot of things that could go wrong... Thanks for your help guys and gals!!!

I need to learn all those things too, I never had a teacher... I only know what I know from you guys on the forums and youtube videos... If I do buy another shotgun for her to shoot, it has to be something I can have fun with too... But now you talk about proper fit etc. that might not be possible... I am 6'4" and 250lbs, She is 5'4" and 110lbs about a 100 in the summer. I was looking as some of the youth version of the Bretta guns too, they might have a better fit for her... What do you guys think of recoil pads?? Any suggestions out there, my M4 is great but a little extra comfort might not be a bad idea...

I noticed for the 391s you can get a KO stock, and you can't get those for the 3901, the KO adds about $400 to the price of the gun, does it make a big reduction in recoil?

Keep in mind I live in California... where they don't hesitate to arrest people who are defending themselves. We have jury's that think anyone who owns a gun is a crazy nut, and that criminals are all good people who just need to be rehabilitated. It sucks here... So I thought a dummy round aka blank, not a snap cap... would be a good way to get them out of the house and keep me out of trouble, if they don't leave I'll still have 6 shots left. As far as the .45 goes, I do have a Glock .45 ready to go, and yet again another crappy California law, I can't have a mag that can accept more than 10 rounds. My back up is a Ruger .357 Revolver in the den. I am sure before long hollow points will be illegal in California before too long, it's been up for debate before.

I knew Berretta was the parent company but that doesn't always mean similar quality, Ford is the parent company of Volvo and there is a HUGE gap in quality. In the 3901's and the 391's which is gonna be easier to shoot?... Any other advantages that would justify the extra cost in the 391's? Besides cleaning, what extra maintenance do they need? Remember I am pretty much a novice in the world of shot guns, I only have a Benelli M4, and keep it clean and never ever have any problems with it... thanks for all your help

The part of LA I live in, doesn't have a problem with crack heads, but we have a HUGE problem with Armenians, there is a lot of murder for hire going on right now and sometimes they come to the wrong address and take out the wrong family than who they were hired to do. In the past year there have been 11 home invasion slayings all within a 10 mile radius of my home. There are also 200,000 people living in that same area, so odds are i'll be lucky and never have run into one of these guys, but ya never know and I want to be prepared. The idea with the dummy is that as soon as I heard something fishy I could let off a boom, I don't have to wait to make visual contact. I also ordered SOCOMguy's tube for the M4, so I'll have plenty of rounds left after I let off the dummy...
-
you know of a beretta model in mind? how does the quality and dependability compare to benelli?
-
Is this a good idea? For home defense I was thinking of having my first shot a dummy round, that way as soon as I hear someone in the house, I can fire off the dummy round in my bedroom and hopefully they will go running out house, however they don't remaining ammo in the tube will be hot loads. Is there down side? I can really do any damage with a dummy round, right? Where are the flaws in my plan? Thanks, I really appreciate the help.

So how would you compare a 12ga M4 to a 12ga Supersport & a 20ga supersport? My girlfriend wants to try something with a lot less recoil... She shot the M4 with 2 3/4 Fiocchi ultra low recoil and that nearly knocked her on her butt, she is only 110lbs.

Of All the Benelli Semiauto shotguns, what is the easiest to shoot in both 16 and 20 Ga.?
