  1. I dont own one but I have shot an M2 and other ID benellis, but I have never limp wristed one, but I heard this and assumed it was true. I guess this is why weighing them down makes them not cycle, because it doesn't travel as far backwards.

Lets be realistic here though by the time you weigh it down far enough to not cycle your approaching tacticool and not tactical. A single light is enough to make a HD shotgun up to par for 99% of the people out there. After all most of the people that add all that stuff need a scatter gun to make up for accuracy anyway so go figure.

  2. I would add..if the M2 was such a great weapon, Benelli would not have to design a rifle from he ground up to meet military specs/requirements. M1,2 or 3 did not meet requirements.

They added a gas operating system to back up the inertia system which means just that not that the M1, 2 & 3 were inferior. In reality the M4 you bought isn't a military spec model so it doean't really matter anyway.

  3. Even though I was wrong I said THE RECOIL PAD HAS TO BE AGAINST SOMETHING TO CYCLE which can include your hip. Like I said I was wrong anyways just clearing that up.

But it doesn't need to be against anything the only catch here is that what ever the pad is against needs to move.

  4. +1

and yes, I can and have limp-wristed M4's, and yes, you can limp-wrist an M2, and yes I have fired my M4 with target loads from the hip, and yes it worked.

So which viewpoint are you going to run with instead of being wishy washy?

  5. Fair enough. Actually I am the novice to Benelli. No shame in that.

And thruth be told, I had to wait a total of two weeks in order to get one of the best HD shotguns on the market with all the "tacticool" toys. Damn shipping.

Cody, you have to admit, lasers are pretty friggin sassy.

Hey no problems here I just wanted to make sure you understood that I didn't just stumble apont this forum and post out of bordem.

As for lasers there ok until you start to rely on them as the sole means POA. My S&W M&P40 has the OE laser grips and I love them but once they are set I turn them off and use my sights to eliminate my first statement.

  6. No. I have fired my M2 from the hip and it cycled perfectly. The gun needs to travel backward in order to compress the BCG spring, so in theory if you put the stock against a brick wall that would cause it to not cycle.

Exactly but don't try convincing the local M4 happy squad that the M2 can really do that. Then again by there deffinition all M2's should be able to cycle is buckshot and slugs.

  7. If Ubnotanium is telling the truth that his can cycle 2 3/4 dram 1 1/8 oz loads I think that is the equivalent to 3 dram 1 oz loads. Like I have been saying, M2s rely on recoil and the gun has to have something to kick (The recoil pad has to be against something) to cycle. When your adrenaline is pumping and your nervous you might not shoulder the gun, and if you dont shoulder the gun, you will probably miss, and it is as good as a single shot in that situation. It is like a runner trying to run with his feet of the ground when you dont shoulder it, and a runner trying to run through swamp when its weighed down. An M4 uses gas and will cycle unconditionally. That makes the M4 better for HD, but the M2 is better for hunting.

I just have to know, have you even shot or own an M2?

  8. Like the folks with M4s?

    You get my point.

Just don't talk to me like I am some novice who spent the past year saving up to buy an M2 and now that I have one I think it's the greatest thing since the automobile.

  9. I am talking about 3 dram 1 ounce stuff the really cheap stuff that comes in boxes of 100

Well I ran a box of Winchester Super Speed xtra through mine without a snag and thats the cheapest crap you can buy at Wal-Mart.

  10. Because cost is a factor when choosing a shotgun. If its not a factor to you do you think Inertia is better than gas for HD/reliability?

That is a two sided question but when simply applied to only Benelli shotguns I would trust my M2 the same as any M4. If I do something to make my M2 not cycle during a HD situation it wouls also happen with the M4.

  11. Try firing it with it held beside you with nothing behind the but pad it will not cycle the 2nd round. Try throwing some more tac stuff on it and it probably wont cycle. The M4 will because it doesn't rely on recoil to cycle.

I have and it cycles just fine, same with any angles and upside down.

  12. The fact that the M2 weighed down wont cycle what an M4 weighed down can means the M4 is more reliable. If I was looking for a semi auto benelli HD shotgun (which I am not) then that would be enough reason for me to invest in the M4. If you like the M2 or want to save some money then go for it. This is just my opinion.

Why do some of you continue to bring cost up when comparing the M2 and M4. If it was only because the M2 is a little cheaper it would be no big deal but you guys say it like people who buy M2's cannot afford the M4.

Also my M2 cycles just fine with a mag. tube mounted light which to me is all a person needs for HD duty on a shotgun. **** I don't even use the light I just bought it to see if it would cycle.

  13. I don't understand why people think it is rediculous to want to practice with bird-shot, or simply go out and have some fun with it.

I practice with birdshot also and have had not one issue so once again whats your point?

  14. I'm lost. The m2 doesn't cycle light loads? I've seen 3 m2's that cycle 1 oz loads. Is that not good enough?

Mine will cycle everything down to the cheap Wal-Mart Winchester birdshot. Of course I don't normally buy the cheap stuff but I had some left over from shooting clays with the SuperNova. I don't have stuff hung on my M2 though so maybe if you need all that tacticool stuff it won't cycle.

  15. Built more heavy-duty. Cycles light loads more reliably. Has better re-sale value. Has a collapsible stock option. Soaks up recoil better. Prevents people from cracking jokes about you being an M2 owner when you could have had an M4 if you used your basic mechanical skills.

I wouldn't buy a Z06 so I could beat an escort by 2 more cars than your Z51. I would buy a Z06 so I could beat your Z51 by well over 2 cars.

    - Who buys a M4 to shoot light loads?

    - It isn't more heavy duty as you call it and anything that is beyond need makes it heavier.

    - The resale thing is out the window now that they are readily available.

    - I am a man and my shoulder can handle a 12 gauge can't yours?

I could argue with you all day long but it still comes down to the fact that your a cheap ass with an expensive gun and thats all. Really though who buys a $1500 tactical shotgun and then praises it's ability to shoot skeet/cheap ammo, sorry kiddo but thats what I have a 26" Supernova around for. Whats next are you going to tell me all about the sweet rail that comes standard too?

  16. I would suggest selling it to Cody6.0 when he buys a Benelli M4 because his M2 isn't as good. That way he can just screw it on, it will be OEM, and he won't have the heat the *#!& out of a $1500 shotgun to replace the mag-tube. :p

That would be like trading my Corvette Z51 for a Corvette Z06 just so I can beat Ford Escorts by 26 cars instead of only 24.

Since you seem to find such humor in me prefering the M2 could you at least tell me what the M4 does better.

  17. You seem really high strung for someone confident that they made the best decision in their purchase. If you think the threads are stupid then don't participate in them. The world is full of people who think differently than you... chill out and don't take it so personally.

Sorry but when someone makes it sound like an M2 is a waste of money and will not shoot anything other than buckshot and slugs I will call BS.

  18. Unobtanium,

Ok I have been trying to be nice but please tell me this is a ******* joke, if not it is the stupidist thing I have read on here so far and is the very reason I laugh at M2 vs M4 threads.

Whats even funnier is right out of the box I have been shooting cheap ass Winchester low steel 2 3/4" 8 & 7 1/2 birdshot I had left over from my SN. I also shot a box of Federal high brass and one box of Federal 154 Buckshot. The only FTF I had was when I forgot to chamber a round.

Would you like to make fun of my new Silverado W/T too since it is the cheap model and not the super luxurious LTZ I wanted a truck and thats what I got just like I wasnted a semi-auto and got a M2.

  19. I used to be all OCD about my guns but I finally got it through my head that use will cause wear. I don't mind marks from cases/hulls being ejected just as long as it isn't cheap paint jobs letting it happen.
