  1. The black anodizing will "fade" to a blue, gray, or even a purple color when exposed to the elements, especially bright sunlight. We used to see the exact same thing on the anodized scope tubes on sniper scopes in Vietnam, some of them turned out with Exactly the same color as shown in your picture.

  2. its that simple what would you recomend as a second gun i am a lefty so a lefty gun is preferable but ill look at any thing from any brand.

What is your "first" gun? Then we may be able to make suggestions. What will it be used for?

  3. Where can I obtain a bayonet lug for the M-3 S-90 with the +2 Benelli magazine extension. I saw one for a Remington 870 on TACTICALSHOTGUNNER.COM.

but they don't list one for any other make. Is there one available for Benellis?

  4. As far as I know, every civilian m4 came with the regular pistol grip stock and a 2 round limiter tube from the factory.

If it's marked LE, MAYBE it was a LEO gun that came with a factory 7 round tube, but I highly doubt a LEO gun would have a field stock on it.

I don't see what it would be an issue though either way ... the parts are meant to be easily swapped on and off, why does it matter what it initially came with?

Also, you can tell pretty easily if the tube is a factory 7 round tube or not ... the factory 7 round tubes are pretty rough, you can see and feel the machining "spin marks" on them, and they will not have any US stamp at the base.

If I had to guess, I'd say either the gun was an LEO gun (came with 7 round factory tube, they added the field stock), or it was sold to a civilian in stock form and both the field stock and a 7 round tube of various possible sources was added.

As for the "field stock" on a LEO gun. If it was a "cruiser" gun, mounted in a rack in a car, and not for SWAT use, it would more than likely have had a "field stock". I've been a LEO for just shy of 20 years, and have never seen a "Tactical" or "pistol grip" stock mounted in a cruiser. They're just not "Politically Correct" enough, and they "alarm the public".

  5. The actual bolt rides in a bolt carrier. It looks like a "cover" but it isn't. Your gun should look like the picture posted above. In that picture the bolt is closed completely, and locked. If you look real close at yours, as you ease the bolt assembly forward you will see the head of the bolt rotate and lock into slots in the barrel. The bolt doe's close all the way, but since the "bolt" rides in a "carrier", it only appears to have excess play in it.

  6. 10-4, that's possible. There is about a 1/4 inch gap between the bolt carrier and the end of the ejection port opening. Finally got pic to load. You can see the gap at the front of the bolt carrier, where you can see the bolt head inside the receiver. This is a normal view, with the bolt closed and locked. Hope this helps.

  7. Thank you I will use the 4-1 because I was told not to use wd40. The wool is a good idea...thanks

The reason people tell you not to use WD-40 on guns, is that it is a penetrating oil. If it leaves residue in a magazine, it can penetrate into the cartridges.

  8. I have a SBEII that I put away wet on Tuesday after a glorious day of hunting. unpacked the car a few hours ago and went to clean my gun and my entire gun has surface rust on it. It normally has a spot to two and they just wipe off. This looks like it has been sitting on the bottum of a lake for two years. HELP!!!

I've had good luck with either 3in1 oil, or WD-40, applied liberally, then rubbed down (LIGHTLY) with 4-0 steel wool. Try it on a hidden area first, as I have seen some firearms that had such a thin blue that it would remove the blue. I obtained a Pre-64 Model 94 Winchester that the owner said was "junk" that was covered with surface rust. An hour with oil and 4/0 and it was like new. Hope this helps.

This is the only place I've seen it commercially other than a surplus store called Stroh's in Okarche, Ok. 405-263-4888. I bought several rolls that are much longer than the ones from Duluth Trading and at only .50 per roll. I'll call them tomorrow (12-26) and ask if they will ship to you folks.

That's it, I remember it came in a can of a roll of about 25, or 50' really good stuff. Thanks.

  10. Have you seen the silicone based tapes that are out now? They have no adhesives, are self-bonding only to themselves, withstand 500 degree temps, and stretch 3 times their length. I'm thinking that a wrap of that tape before you put the clamp on may prevent any scratches. I've used this tape and I bet that if the clamp doen't cut through it, it'll prevent those scratches and not affect the hold of the clamp.

That stuff has been around for at least 40 years. We used it in the military. I have never seen it commercially available though. Where can I get some? Thanks.

  11. My son blew up a M1 barrell matte finish, bad ammo casued a stuck wad and he fired again blowing out the barrel about 4 inches from end.

I cut off the blown part and removed the vent rib, it was coming off anyway. Would like to salvage this barrell, but i need to thread the inside of barrell for the choke system. how do i do this?

VERY FIRST THING!!!!!!Contact the ammo manufacturer, with the lot number of the boxes of the ammo you were using. In cases such as this, there may be other complaints besides yours, due to production line problems, such as the shot filling function, failing to fill the cup.

I bought three boxes of .357 mag. ammo, all from the same lot that were not filled with powder when assembled at the factory. Upon contacting the factory, I returned the 3 boxes, received apoligies, and a case of new .357 ammo. In my case, there was no damage, and no one was hurt. They may pay for a new barrel for you, it wouldn't hurt to try, (also check for recalls on that lot number).

  12. I am going out on a limb here...but I think Obama has higher priorities then banning our beloved M3's.

And on that...does anyone know if you can fit any folding stock on a M3, other then finding a busted M3T and moving the stock over?

M-3's are beside the point, HR1022 is a fact, (GOOGLE HR1022) and in place waiting to be passed, and it WILL be with DEM's in power. Read the part on "our beloved rifles" the part on "threaded barrels", not just "threaded muzzles". All of a sudden, our hunting rifles with a barrel that may be "threaded" to accept sights, can be outlawed. SCARY!!!!!!!!

  13. Hello, I have a Benelli M3 I purchased in 1999, S/N M3499XX. Does anyone know the Benelli part number for the correct pistol grip stock. I bought a #60015 off craigslist and was told it would work, but it didn't fit. Thanks.

First thing to try is the washer / spacer in the front hole of the stock, as you are looking at the FRONT hole in the stock. I have noticed that there are two different spacers. Try popping the old one out of your old stock, and fitting it in your new stock first. When I changed stocks on mine, it left a gap, and that is how I had to fix it. Hope this helps.

  14. Share with the group, homeskillet.

Both the factory manual, and the "photocopy" they sent me are basically the same. Both show screw on caps. But, in the end (muzzle end) of the magazine tube, there is a part that is actually part of the "limiter" system, to limit the number of shells in the mag. Carefully depress that part down into the magazine tube, as if removing the "limiter", and turn it to an angle, and see if the spring, and limiter won't slip out. Mine comes out that way, even with out un-screwing anything. CAREFUL, it's under a lot of pressure. The only other idea, would be to unscrew the tube from the receiver. Hopes this helps. GENELEO

    (Sorry, the pic wouldn't copy).

  15. I have a preban M3 super 90 I need to change the magazine spring and I cant figure out how you get to it without tearing something up....please advise

    Wing

Send me your E-Mail address, (I've tried to attach items here before, and couldn't get it to work) and I'll send what pages I can from the manual that Benelli sent me (actually a photocopy, can you believe it?), It comes out basically the same as a Remington 870/1100/1187, even including hitting you right in the eye!! If it has a "limiter" it is a little more complicated.
