  1. Hi Stranger: To date I have only fired the set up with 2 3/4 Slugs. About 200 rounds. No problems so far. As far as tightening: I tried a few different angles and degrees. They Recommend a 45 Degree angle, which is how I did it. I found that the clamp starts to naturally bite with the bottom of the rail around that degree anyway. Once you cinch it down and lock it in, its not going anywhere. Here are some different angle pix of the set up. The ones where the lever is not locked in is where it starts to bite and take hold. Let me know what you think.
  2. Hey whats up Hookster!! You should post some pix of what you have done to that sucker. Its been awhile. Smith Enterprise just called and they are sending back my Trigger housing today. I sent it in for the "Crazy Horse" Sniper upgrade I am a fan so far of the t1/Larue set up. The cheek riser rounds out it nicely too. I plan on eventually getting a titanuim sadlak scope mount and topping it with a Leupold MK 4, but am enjoying the iron sights/red dot at the moment. I will post some pix of the Larue set up in a min. stand by.
  3. I was waiting for Kip's Titanium Handle too, but got too impatient. I mainly was looking for something that was non corrosive and tough. GG&G's is also a great handle, I got it for the same reasons Gunner did. Shot with freedom fighters Handle and it works great. Does not spin. I got the "finished" version and it looks more grey than matte black, but I dont really care. If Kip's is coming out next month, no reason not to wait. If he sells out or pushes it back, freedom fighter was solid. Sent some free schwagg and I had it in a couple days from coast to coast. later.
  4. I have an Aimpoint Micro T1 Mounted on a Larue QD (low) Mount that attaches fine to my stock rail. If you are still looking for photos of proof, let me know and I will take some shots for you tonight and get them up here. I pull the Aimpoint off the Benelli and my M1A and swap them out in seconds without any probs. Not sure if that was your concern.
  5. if you havent done so already, hit up gunbroker.com I am sure you can get rid of that sucker pretty fast.
  6. awesome I just ordered it. I have a GG&G available now too if anyone wants it : ) J/K Thanks Gunner, been looking for one of these forever.
  7. Where did you get the Titanium one??? Been trying to get my hands on one since Brownelles stopped selling them last Spring. Any advice?
  8. I am using a "Urban Sentry" Hybrid Sling. Damn good Material that you can set upon a 1 or 2 point set up. I dont like having a sling strapped directly into the butt stock side. The rear point set up straps around the neck of the stock so you have the room to maneuver. Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvCkFnfUCqI
  9. Back to the original post (Unless I missed something) Let us know what happens. Maybe you didnt get ordered an M4? Maybe they screwed up and ordered another Benelli? Check the Nomenclature on your receipt? Was the $800 a downpayment? Maybe its used? Just curious because if they are selling ANYWHERE for $800.......I will go buy as many as legally possible and start selling them on gunbroker. Wow.
  10. Oh no........they absolutely go ABOVE the chamber. Otherwise,I wouldnt do that to my rifle. Servicability is paramount to me. One thing I did just to be sure was marked the top chamber height on the outside of the buttstock...then used a square and some chalk on both sides so I knew how much room I had above it. You actually have plenty. The Screws are mounted at the very top of the slots on the cheek riser, so you should be perfectly fine. I would never destroy a perfectly good stock like that However, I had my work cut out for me with the Fulton Armory Front Swivel Rail. I had to drill out the heads on the rivets to get the old sling swivel off. Then I had to grind down the stock behind it so I could fit the rail on there and sand it down. I wasnt prepared to go that far but had too. Then I put a couple fresh coats of sealant and stain over the sanded area, then bolted that sucker down and it aint going nowhere. One thing I would suggest is looking at Karstans versions. Apparently DWP ripped off his design anyways. He has some with "Lighter" knobs. The DWP are heavy as crap and I am eventually going to have to swap them out with something lighter. My weapon with an empty mag inserted is a little over 12lbs right now so I want to ligthen it up anyway i can. Get yourself a cheek riser bro!!!
  11. My biggest fear was obviously drilling directly into the Cleaning Kit Chamber, but it was alright. The directions are okay and I didnt have any probs. You measure 3/4 inch from the buttstock towards the receiver and then set the pad onto the stock to your personal cheek weld. Then you mark all 4 slots at the very top, then pull the Riser off and go in with a 1/8 drill bit halfway on both sides, just to make sure you are in line. Once you see the wood dust coming out the other side, you just go in with your 1/4 inch bit and finish it up. I didnt have any problems, and was relieved it was so simple. You have a Fiberglass stock though dont you? I still think you would be alright......I like it better than the padded ones. It's just a personal preferance though
  12. These are the Mods so far on the Scout: Smith Enterprise Folding Sled B**** System W/ Fulton Armory Bottom Rail Mount (Drilled into Stock) Tech Sights AR Style Adjustable Front Sight Mount W/ DPMS Front Sight Post (.034) Sadlak Extended Magazine Release Smith Enterprise Extended Bolt Stop/Release DWP Adjustable Cheek Riser Sadlak TiN Coated Gas Piston Sadlak NM Operating Rod Smith E. Non Corrosive Gas Plug Shimmed Gas System Dave Tubb's High Performance Operating Rod & Hammer Springs Gonna put a Sadlak titanium scope mount on the receiver at some point and a Mark 4 Scope when I am bored with the Irons. I also intend to get the trigger group "tweeked"
  13. ha. I get a lot of guff from my friends about my rifle and living in a high rise. However, none of them own, or have ever excercised their constitutional rights. I am pretty proud of my Scout Squad. I have been building this up for a few months (Wrong forum I know) But Hookster Will love it!
  14. Dont laugh too hard since this was my first "photo shoot" but I wanted to post something up. Have a good day Gents.
  15. I would highly reccomend the Bolt Release from GG&G. It really does make a huge difference and you will never look back. Havent seen anyone on here that would disagree. My aimpoint T-1 arrives today, I will post any complaints I have if there are any. The other guys would probably have better Guidance with Slings. I just dont like strapping them into the buttstock, which is why I went with the Urban Sentry.
  16. I followed Duggans advice to the T when I first got mine, and am glad that I did. A couple small mod's you can do yourself are: Larger Charging Handle (I got GG&G Because the Titanium ones from Brownelles were out of business) Enlarged Bolt Release Pad GG&G: (this is great) Kips Titanium Magazine Tube : This also comes with a better spring. I also put the Surefire M80 Quad Rail grip on, and a Brownelles Mag Follower. Regarding Slings, I like the Urban Sentry 2 point sling, but thats my personal preference. You can watch this video on youtube to see the different configs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvCkFnfUCqI enjoy your weapon!
  17. I have an Aimpoint Micro T-1 arriving on Wed that I got specifically for the M4. I will take it out, Calibrate and give some feedback on my experience with it if anyone is interested. This will be my first Red Dot.
  18. Nice work Panabox, that is the cooleset Mod I have seen on here. Good to know there is not any heat issues. Seriously, Kudo's to you man.
  19. Now that is a seriously nice Rifle. Let me know if you pick it up. I had a problem with my Scout and had to send it back to SA last month. They replaced the Barrel, Extractor and fixed the head spacing. Long story but I should have it back in a couple days. I just picked up a Smith Enterprise B**** System, and am on a new quest for a hooded front sight with a thin FSP. Let me know if you have any suggestions, because this is proving to be a challenge. My M4 is also almost complete. I just ordered the New Follower, a Folding front pistol grip (only for use out of cali of course, heh) and an aimpoint Micro T-1 for it. When I slap everything on and take her out, I will post some pics. I cant wait to put some rounds thru her when it all gets here!! Later!
  20. Whats up Hookster? Hows that Socom Treating you? Funny you just posted that Link, I was in the process of ordering the exact one!! Thanks Man. Happy New Year!
  21. Hi Gents, I was just wondering if anyone had any aftermarket suggestions for a new Magazine Follower? I remember seeing one online last month that was not the factory plastic version that was pretty inexpensive, but cannot remember where. I thought it was Daves Metal Works but I cant find it on his site. Thanks as always
  22. Regarding Slings: I am a fan of the Urban Sentry. You can fix it a few different ways. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvCkFnfUCqI
  23. Yeah, Design Concepts went out of business or "Discontinued" the Titanium Charging Handle the very week I ordered mine, so I had to go with the GG&G until Kip makes his Titanium ones.
  24. ha ha thats awesome. I bet that puppy can really make your shoulder sore!
