  1. you are exactly right. hahah if i can zoom in all the way on the target i should not be an inch off at 50 yards. we will just have to see.

Can't wait for the results. Are you going to be using a gun rest? Wouldn't want any variables affecting your results.

  2. Camo is def the way to go if you are hunting Turkeys, because as they say if they could smell they would be impossible to hunt! IE, They can see and hear extremely well.

I had a similar scenario with my gun and got my SuperNova Max 4 HD for $375, I gave him $360! Guy did not know what he had, poor basstard.

Anyways Congrats on your new gun hope you love it. Send out some pics when you nail those birds!

    Happy Hunting and be Safe!

  3. Porting chokes will pattern almost the same but I have never seen them pattern better than non ported and sometimes worse. The reason why I don't prefer ported is because they cost more for nothing but looks. I used to love ported chokes tell I compared them to normal chokes and the performance was the same and the recoil was the same and the price was better. So in my opinion if a non ported choke kicks just as soft, patterns just as good, and costs less than a ported choke it is better.

Yeah I agree with you, but if you got a ported choke and the season is here, may as well use it this year and get a new one that is not ported if he wishes next year. I found a combo that works with my ported choke so I will continue to use it. Right now all my extra money is going towards my gear so Sitka Gear in Optifade is where my funds have been going lately (Which in my opinion is the best gear in the World..although it can be pretty expensive, but doesn't everything that is worth it cost a little more?). Next year if Carlson's Chokes come out with a new and better turkey choke that is not ported I will probably pick it up so that I can enjoy the FC wad, because I do like their patterns.

    Good points though.

  4. It looks so industrial and futuristic. Where the clean smooth pats feed into lavishly detailed additions creating quite a complex yet simple machine (Gun). Keep up the great work, I look forward to more of your modified guns.

  5. I want that gun! I think a tear just came to my eye, what excellent craftsmanship and detail, the way the grain of the wood spills over the butt of the gun, running downward like a waterfall. You lucky dog.

  6. The best part of this is that he doesn't even have a SBE. I think he bought a Beretta last year. He seems to think that being able to shove a 4th round in the magazine tube makes the SBE better. Haha...and I can't beat the **** out of him because 1) he's family (by marriage), and 2) he got one of his buddies to give me a helluva deal on this SBE II. It's a twisted situation...you would just have to know this guy to understand him. I think I know enough about the two SBE models to put him in his place now...

I think ishootkittens was not saying actually beat the **** out of him but was referring to the contest that I suggested.

And if he does not even own a Benelli than who cares what he thinks. He has no place to say anything but +1 to his friend.

    Have Fun!

  7. will the 6's pattern better than the 4's.. cuz i always use the 4's.. but if the 6's will give me a bigger pattern then ill go for it.. alittle range would be nice too!

Oh is that what you shot that One hen with? the one you sent me pictures of?

Yeah the #6 shot was what I got my Thunder Chicken with this year at 45 yards. I can't say that it will give you a better pattern but you will def throw more lead balls at it. #4 is a great size, but there is ammo out there like the Mag-Shok Heavyweights that claim to pattern #7 as dense as #5 at 40 yards. You will get a less dense pattern but the spread will probably be larger and if you make a poor shot you have a margin of error IMO. All up to you my man, go with your gut...or do what I do and pattern the different sizes to see what patterns best at the range you plan on shooting out of your setup. The only problem with this is that you have little time before your season starts and unless you know for sure where the birds are coming out and where you are sitting you may not have the time or money to throw away for ammo tests. You probably have ammo already so I would stick with the stuff you have and get the job done with what your comfortable with and what you know it does at the different yardages.

    Good Luck!:D

  8. Try those Winchester Supreme High Velocity Turkey 2oz #6 I told you about. 10 per box and each box is around $17.00, I got 2 boxes at Dicks a week ago where it was buy one get one half off, my buddy picked them up for me and wanted a couple shells and said he would give them to me for $25!! So I got 18 rounds for $25 (saved $9), and scored a nice hen at 45 yards! Check em out, pattern test them and let me know what you think!

    Best of Luck!

  9. My goal wasn't to "bash" the original SBE, but just be able to tell him why the SBE II is better. This guy wants to take away from my new SBE II by saying the original SBE is a better gun.

I know what you mean, and it is a biitch slap when you have one of those "friends" who always has to be a one upper. Ask him this: "Name one thing the SBE has that is better than the SBE II?"

I hate those types of people but we all have friends like that. Like the others commented, he is super jealous that you have the SBE II and he has the SBE. The worst part about the whole thing is that just to one up you he is going to get an one too...and his will be better because he got it for less or such and such came with it.

Give him crap if you want, but that is doing exactly what he wants you to do, and that is to stoop to his level. Have a contest like I said and see who performs better. No one can question results, especially when it comes to clays.

Have fun out there, enjoy your new gun and have a Blast! :D

Great choice by the way with the SBE II.

I happen to love them both.:)

  10. well i would love to reach out and touch something at 100 yards! if it stays in a 3 inch group at 80 yards, ill be fine and set in concrete the slugs ill be using come oct. 31! (deer season) ill be gettin em sometime next week.

Nice, If your gun patterns anything like mine than you should get 1/2" groups out to 50 yards and beyond! When I tried the 2-3/4" Black Magics I got 1" groups but with a little tinkering I am sure I could get them closer. Best of Luck with the GREAT White Tailed Deer! You should have a bunch down there considering your in the south and all. Can't wait to see your harvests this year!

    Have fun and be Safe!:D

  11. well people have told me that carlsons and primos make some good chokes and they are all i will buy. i have a primos jelly head and i like it prety well. I only shoot winchester black boxes. 4 shot! i havent tried anything else though, thats why i posted the thread. just wondering what worked for you guys.

Well I hope that you have found some more ammo options through the posted pattern tests and have found an ammo that patterns well through your jelly head on your SuperNova!

Good Luck out there with those Thunder Chickens!:D

  12. I own both the SBE and the SBE ll. I would bash neither of them. Both perform flawlessly.. Having either one in your collection is a good thing! Neither will let you down...

That is the best thing I have heard on this thread yet. Good Job hognutz!:D

You can't bash the SBE just because your getting the SBE II...Why would you want to bash the gun that set the bar so high and made Benelli king......?

Just invite him to a friendly gentlemen's bet where you see who gets the most birds ducks or **** do a target contest. Than your focus is on the user and not those great guns, because hognutz is right, they are both going to perform flawlessly. But will you?:)

  13. haha yeah.. those accutips tumbled hard at about 50 yards out of my smoothbore, those damn buckhammers left holes the size of a half dollar, but without rifling they were just a hunk of lead floating in the air. i wouldnt trust them when mentioning distance. I hope the BM and the federal truballs pattern better! freakin waste of money was exactly what those accutips were!

Those Black Magics are great for 100 yards and under. Your going to have fun with them. When do you get them again?

  14. Ishootkittens when are you going to post some pattern tests..hehe j/k Get your camera right and post that junk. I sure am glad that I didn't get the accutips for any of my tests after hearing about your tests even though they look pretty cool (even though we all know that doesn't make a difference) but it is still cool when you whip out a florescent green tipped slug! Keep us posted man! :D

  15. this ported and non ported **** is confusing me, are non ported chokes better if you wanna hold tight patterns or are ported chokes better if you wanna reduce recoil.. im so confused. someone please explain.

On a shotgun choke that is ported it will not reduce muzzle jump because the holes are evenly spaced around the entire choke. If they were all on the top you may get a reduced muzzle jump. You may get reduced muzzle flash, but unless your trying not to be seen by enemy snipers you shouldn't have to worry about that. I find that ported chokes look cooler but don't perform as well for all ammo, especially any of the Federal Ammo that utilizes the FC Wad. Ported chokes can reduce felt recoil and in theory they "help slow the wad which won't interfere as much with the shot column and can result in better patterns." This last part was taken from

    http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BQY/is_3_48/ai_82551645/

I did slight word changing but have to reference them so I don't get a call for plagiarism.

I am sure there are more pros and cons for using ported chokes but I hope this helps. In the end the choice is the buyer's preference.

    Good Luck!

  16. Good job I don't really care if you use a ported choke or not they don't pattern noticeably worse with most loads but I often speak my mind about what I think when people ask about them. I doubt I can make time to get to Missouri so no turkeys this fall. Hopefully there will be plenty of other animals though.

Thanks man, I know I was just giving you crap. Too bad that you won't make it out to Missouri but Spring is the best for Turkeys anyways. Have fun this fall bro. What do you have your sights on now? For me I am going to catch up on upland/migratory bird and the Saturday after next is opening season for White Tailed Deer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

  17. Make sure, if he lets you fire it that you load it up fully and fire off all the rounds to make sure there are no cycling issues as well. For that cheap, he either doesn't know what he has, or more likely it is broken.

Good Luck- Heck you just might make out Great!:D
