  1. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone can help me out....undecided as to which length to get....I was told 26" is good for birds but 28" might be better for target shooting........any thoughts/info. would be appreciated Thx
  2. So bare with me as i've been hunting only 2 years now. Is the amount of pellets the same in a 3" if using it for 12gau &/or 20 gau. cause this is point exactly as I don't want to be under gunned for geese this fall...
  3. Hi guys, need some opinions on the matter. I'm looking at possibly trading in my SBEII 12gau over to a 20gau. M2, and I'd be using it for turkey, small game and some water fowl, the reason for this I find i'm able to shoulder the smaller 20 alot easier over the 12. I'm 5'7 160lbs...from what i've read it seems some of the die-hard waterfowlers sware by 3 1/2" loads especially for geese of which i'd love to try this fall...any opinions would be appreciated
  4. Although I own the SBEII 12ga. MAX4 (smooth), I had a hard time justifying spending an extra $600-700 for a slug barrel up here in Canada for just 1 week of use...luckily I managed to find a M2 20gau on sale w/rifled barrel so I have my designated set up for deer season from now on. If you got the funds, buy the slug barrel for the SBE, however if I was in your shoes I'd try to buy a designated slug gun....**** if I knew now what I did 3 years ago I would have skipped on SBE and bought the M2 and saved, very few scenario's will require you to use 3 1/2" ammo
  5. lol....already posted Sgt (Feb 1)...with no replies either Guess we might have to expand the search to all Benelli semi-auto in 20 gau. rifled barrel for more help
  6. Hey guys, I'm contemplating buying the above for deer season. Has anyone ever tried using this successfully, open sights or scope, and what ammo were you using? Any info. will be appreciated Thanks
  7. Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone has had any good/bad experience with the above ammo. I was thinking of using this for my SBEII for this season....thoughts? and if so, which particular line etc and size Thanks
  8. Hey guys, just ramping up for turkey opener up in Ontario...was thinking of buying a box call, are there any out there that are better then others...was leaning towards Primos Wet Box $24.99, is it any good? any others out there better??? thoughts
  9. And from your experience, what the best combo/ammo to use with the Jellyhead on an SBEII open sight...hopefully I can get her patterned in before 'opener' I wanted to ask a few other questions via 'pm' but i'm not over my 15 posts yet lol re: SBEII and firing slugs out of her Thanks for all your help so far
  10. k.....thanks Mudhen Is it worth spending the $40-50 on an after market choke (ie. Primos jellyhead)
  11. So what the best choke & ammo to use on a SBEII using open sights for turkey? Thoughts....
  12. Any thoughts to the Federal Flight Control Wad?
  13. Hi there, first year turkey hunting and was wondering if some of the experienced guys can point me in the right direction for which preferred ammo they like to use. I'll be using a standard full choke, the shot we can use up here in Canada is either 4,5 or 6 size and i'll probably use 2 3/4", from what i've read it seems Federal is the frontrunner...thoughts? Any info. will be appreciated...
  14. Hey guys, I was wondering if you can help me out. I finally was able to verify that my shotgun (Benelli SBEII-Max-4) is firing high 14"-16" dead center @ 50 yards which was verified @ a shooting range with different ammo (2 3/4" slug) from a still/sit position with various shooters. When I spoke to Benelli the CSR explained cause its a European gun that it does fire slightly higher and suggested trying to add/remove the shims to help compensate. I asked some other veteran hunters and told me that changing the shims will have nothing to do with the gun firing high, 1 suggestion was to buy a higher (elevation) front bead/sight so as to overcompensate my target...any thoughts/suggestions Now call me nieve/ignorant but were your spending that kind of $ on a shotgun should it not fire as to were you point your target, as well is there any possibility the gun is defective?
  15. Would you happen to know the thickness of 10401, I believe its 1" thick....i'm looking for a 1/2" thickness recoil pad Thanks for your help
  16. I'm not sure about it being an 'upgrade', I just require a skinner (1/2") recoil pad, as I found I had some difficulty shouldering the shotgun with all my layers of winter clothing on for deer but didn't have much luck on the net for an aftermarket at a resonable price
  17. I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out. The standard recoil pad on my SBEII is 1 3/8" thick and was hoping to replace it with a 1/2" thick to make it easier to shoulder with my gear during deer season, the only places I managed to find were gonna charge $100+ (part# 81046)...can anyone provide a part #/manufacturer or link to the webpage for an aftermarket, the skinnest limbsaver seems to have is 1" for my SBEII.....any info. will be appreciated Thx
  18. Hey Dutch, I had the problem occur as well on me this year during deer opener, on 2 seperate occasions the shotgun slug would get caught in the bottom on the metal rim portion then you had to use quite abit of force (to the point I was worried about losing a finger/fingernail) to shove the shell all the way in, it seemed to do it only when inserting the ammo (Winchester Supreme 2 3/4 1oz) slowly though I noticed...could this be a manufacturing issue/recall? Any others out there?
  19. I noticed on the SBEII that it has the holes pre-tapped up top for a scope....my question would be how difficult is it to mount a scope on the gun for deer season only and then remove it for small game and vice-versa....any possible problems? what is an accurate estimate on range with a scope, 100yds? no wind consistenetly shooting 2" dia approx? Would it come in handy for turkey having the scope on? Sorry about the questions....new to hunting Been an avid angler most of my life and decided to take up another hobby Thx
  20. Hey guys, need your help/advice. I have the above 12gau shotgun and went for deer this week for the first time. Now last month I went up north for some grouse to break her in and fired a box of target load threw her. Had no problem hitting a few birds during that weekend (using Federal ammo). However my buddy who is fully licensed purchased the ammo (as my Firearms license is still in the process) and purchased Winchester slugs 2 3/4 1oz, Supreme I believe, the problem is the ammo I was using costed me my first 2 does (40yd shoots) sitting position as I found out later it shoots 2ft high and to the left at 50 yards using a make shift bullseye out of cardboard and this was validated by 2 different hunters I was up there with and they were shooting from the kneeling position. I was using improved mod. choke, is this possibly certain ammos react differently. I was told Rottweil is the ammo I should be using for this shotgun, could it be anything else???....any info./advice will be appreciated As well the only place in Toronto that carries the rifled/slug barrel for the above wants $700+, does anyone know of any other places cheaper (ie. Amazon, ebay etc) and if you have a part# that would be great as well Thx
